Hello folks,
First thing first, I wanna give a shout-out to Hamma and his staff for the great job they've done with PSU and AGN.
I go by the name Siaxis here in the Planetside 2 community and are also known as DeltaHawk5 in the Battlefield community. To give some background information on myself, I am the site administrator of http://www.MordorHQ.com and a platoon leader for WMD [NC] in Mattherson [US EAST]. My experience with shooters dates back as far as SOCOM I, Planetside, Battlefield 1942, Unreal Tournament and Counter Strike.
When Planetside 2 was announced several months ago, I was stocked to finally see a game with a true command structure system be announced during an age of mindless RnG franchises. Once the beta had been given an estimated date, I was dancing around twitter like a mad-man trying to get access keys for my buddies and I. I read every article, watched every video, glanced at every tweet and even had my questions personally answered by Mr. Higby and Mr. Smedley (shout out to these guys, mad respect) more times than I can possibly recall. I was stocked, release day couldn't come soon enough as I grinded through the game's beta.
Fast-forward to today and so far since release, I have put around 30 hours into platoon and multiple-platoon leading (64 hours of gameplay total) w/ over 10 hours during beta to complement. To add to that, I have a strong background with the Battlefield series, which has always been known for its legendary commander mode...one in which I've put slightly over 200 hours into since it was implemented with Battlefield 2/2142.
I've loved every minute of the game. From massive battles, to Organized Ops, Air Ops and Spec Ops, it's been a blast working with people from around globe to dominate the battlefield and lock continents. However, my experience with platoon(s) leading in Planetside 2 so far, has been slightly chaotic.
Once my platoon(s) and I hit the ground, it feels as though there are several tools missing that could not only add complexity, but at the same time ease to the entire Planetside 2 command experience.
Being the considerate fella that I am: Instead of writing a final term-paper for the community, I've actually gone ahead and done a simple, yet-in-depth concept diagram through the use of Photoshop...after all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
The purpose of this diagram is to convey a message that states how I would like to see the concept that platoon leading is, be expanded based on my PERSONAL experiences. So far, this is just a draft I put together in a few hours. However, I want to open it to the community for proper discussion and hopefully, implementation.
Thank you for taking the time to read, and I'll see you all out there. Without further ado:
