View Full Version : Anyone know how to stream music using in-game voice chat?

I hope this isn't something wrong or what not, but I'd just love to play something like Shoot to thrill - AC/DC (Lyrics) - YouTube when next I'm at the head of a small fleet of aircraft ready to swoop down on the enemy, for all to hear :)

Anyone have any idea how to do this though? I tried setting my sound card to default playback in Sound, but that doesn't seem to have done the trick, as the test shows that nothing was heard. Also when I play it through my mic I hear it sounds like a 'broken speaker', so I am striving to be able to do better :|

I've heard people do this sort of thing before - do you guys have any idea how to do it?

I will gouge your fucking digital eyes out with a spoon if you even attempt to do this.
I will ram you as hard as I can with a galaxy and light your corpse on fire while singing Kumbaya and roasting god damn marshmellows.

YOU. DO. NOT. DO. THIS.

SOE really needs a mic spammer ban policy. This pisses so many people off. Just No. Don't do it.

Edit: Toned the rant down a bit.

We dont wanna hear your sound spamm. Use the proximity voice chat for important messages and not for this kind of shit.

Unfortunately, it's a very clumsy process to mute individual people that spam the "proximity chat" channel with their favourite music or other irritating noises.

So it generates a disproportionate amount of rage in other players.

Stream to your squad or outfit on the appropriate channel. If you're not instantly kicked from the group, then you've found your home in PS2 !

But spam proximity, and you're most likely going to be TK'ed...

Really? Press ALT and click speaker? Jesus no wonder games are getting dumbed down!

It may be cool/funny for about 5 seconds, but then you're just annoying everyone.

Thankfully they have made muting people super easy. I just wish they stayed muted perminantly. I have noticed the same mic spammers pop up more than once.

Yeah, it's not that hard to do. If somebody plays music you dont like, just mute him, where is the problem? I find it cool sometimes, if you dont wanna hear it you can turn him off - why the rage everybody?

I actually want to know if it's possible to morph your voice using an external program and through in-game chat :D

I want to morph my voice into something robotic everytime I'm in a MAX

I have a Firebat soundboard ready for when they bring back the flamethrowers :D

It's not really the done thing in public. Join a like minded outfit and DJ it up with their teamspeak. I really don't want to be spending precious time muting dozens of people's music choices.
P.S. AC/DC I can't fault but you know some c**t will blast Dubsteps out and I will have to attach C4 to him.

Don't know... I've tried it with my headset but I can't remembered if it worked in game or not...

...Kind of pointless though, because my preferred "Robot" voice is pitch too high to be intelligible half the time...

I was a passenger in a Sunderer and we were crossing the desert in the north of Indar.

As the trip was still going to take a few minutes, i wondered how cool it would be, if there was a radio in those sunderers, to entertain the passengers during long trips.

FIVE SECONDS LATER, another Sunderer passed us by, with Vengaboys - We Like to Party/The Vengabus is coming blaring out of his proximity voice chat/speakers/radio.

Best ... Timing ... EVER!

I've always had this secret desire to play 'Klendathu Drop' in the TR WG when we were massing for a big sally..... It's our national anthem after all. We voted on it back in 2003. Remember?

I've always wanted to be able to play back a "Ready to Roll Out!" when leaving a base with a tank column, and a "I'm about to drop the hammer, and dispense some indiscriminate justice!" when we arrive at the enemy base.

Other than that, playing music over prox chat is usually just really annoying.

I'm not going to tell you how to do it, but SOE did make it so the easiest way to do it wont work anymore because it will pick up your mic as not a mic and wont transmit.

I wasn't really intending to do it for our faction though really - mostly so that the enemies could hear us as we come in, hahah. Too bad it doesn't show a symbol for faction in proximity chat, given that you can prox chat to enemies...

Ahh I think I might know what you mean...I actually never used that method though.

...but then how did it sound when that Sunderer drove by with that song, Shenyen? Like a broken speaker, or actually decently clear?

It still works, had a sundie bus playing music from an ice cream truck, everyone was laughing at that one.

On a side note, if we ever figure it out, we could use it to make a pseudo horn for all vehicles.

The sound quality was okay - it was the first time i ever heard someone use prox-voice to play music, so i was busy ROFL'ing and that player was doing it for THE LULZ and not to awe us with fantastic sound quality - but it did its job^^

And yeah I am almost positive you can prox chat to enemies. ...then again I guess I'm only certain you can /tell them, /say, and /yell with them...hmm.

At least its a lot easier to mute them now.

This feature was built into the original APB. You could upload all your 'legally' downloaded music and blare it out the windows of your car as you road around town fighting crime.

It was actually quite cool... if not entirely in agreement with copyright laws :D

I wouldn't flip your lid over someone playing something on proximity chat... it takes about 1 second to adjust the slider to the left to mute them.

Oh God.

I was just now in a late-night battle on Connery, fighting the NC on Esamir... working up to the shielded gate of an amp station, both sides fairly evenly matched, ducking in and out of the shield... and all of a fucking sudden I hear:

*MACHO MACHO MAAAAN*
*I'VE GOT TO BE A MACHO MAAAAN*

-- and an NC Sundie comes barging out of the gate and crashes into an already on-fire TR Lightning and blows it to bits before getting torn apart by everything else. Oh Jesus holy shit. I just sat there and LOLed and fought ineffectually because of the LOLing for the next five minutes and then had to log and come tell you all about it.

No one will ever convince me, no matter how it may be misused, how broadcasting music through prox chat is anything but a great unalloyed good. I still don't even know who on what side had that goddam song on or what direction I heard it from, but the timing was perfect.

Despite all my recent prophet-of-doom crap, I can now say that PS2 has created a memory that stacks up alongside the old ones.

I'm still laughing. Oh holy fuckballs it was wonderful.

To be quite frank, everyone in here seems to be quite mad. If you did it around me in an appropriate moment I'd enjoy it and get a laugh, if you did it in spawn, I'd just mute you. Because I'm not a fucking cry baby.

There are a few sound plugins that can do it for you, it's just a case of finding one that's good, I suggest googling.

Yeah, this is one of those things that requires taste and timing to do good.

Use it well, and everyone (well, most at least) will like it.
Use it badly, and everyone (YES, EVERYONE!) will hate you and teamkill you, you spammer devil you.

Also, what moosepoop said. (awesome nick btw) ;)

I'm guessing it's the Stereo Mix that doesn't work anymore then?
I tried it earlier with my Outfit and it cut me out, which sucks, because they wouldn't have minded. Maybe I'll just use it in our TS then. :/

You just caused me to bust out laughing in the middle of class, fall on the floor out of my chair, and everybody to stop, and look at me with a pissed off look and saying "what the fuck is wrong with you?!?" I just simplyresponded, "I blame the governement." Which in turn, caused laughter. (I'm in a government philosophy class).
