The problem is colours aren't very prominent so you can fly up to a Sund and there is no name plate or indication above that it is a friendly and this happens with infantry too. So I end up shooting it as I assume it is an enemy and I get a FF warning and the indicator shows up when I get in a bit closer or if I wait awhile longer.

It is very annoying.

This happens to me a lot. Half the time the names show up late; if you’re using night vision you rely on that.

I routinely have to fire "warning shots" into Liberators to see if they're friendly or enemy.

Red X = keep shooting, circle with red slash = whoops.

This. Especially with Sunderers as well. Sometimes I can pick out the faction colours form a distance, sometimes it just doesn't happen.

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to all the players who have been a recipient of my unintended friendly fire......

I like the use the AI Chain gun on the ESF because it instantly kills infantry and so many times have I killed people on the same side because of it.

I think this game suffers from being able to tell things apart, most stuff looks exactly the same faction to faction, the only stuff that stands out is the ESFs and MBTs, even MAX Units are hard to tell from a distance.

Deployed, unmanned sunderers do not have a friendly icon, which is very annoying. One way that might help is that if you look at it and spot it, you will get no reply if it is friendly, but it will say you spotted an enemy sunderer if enemy.

As for libs and gals at distance, it's harder. I've found no way to tell friend from foe at a distance other than shooting some flak rounds at them.

Troublesome for me as well. What I do to is spam spot at unidentified infantry and vehicles, although this only works to a certain distance I think. Another thing to do is to expand the mini-map and see if you can correlate the object you see with an accompanying item on the map.

Also, I'm not sure how it exactly works, but if a vehicle has stealth, you might be screwed no matter what you do, friendly or foe as I believe even friendlies won't show up on the mini-map and I think they have a short(er) spot range, at least it feels that way.

This does indeed suck at times.

Maybe it's rare for you, I have to mash the Q button about 75% of the time I see a sundy simply because it isn't IDed as friendly.

Yep. Happens to me with infantry fairly often. I usually can recognize a friendly VS, but to those of you that wear some funky VS camo that looks nothing like the standard VS, I'm sorry but it's partially your fault if I accidentally TK you.

It doesn't help that Libby's seem to be Q spot resistant to start with
