So... what do you think? How viable is this? Should this be patched? I think it adds a lot of fun to the game because of how hard it is to pull off without crashing. I don't think I'll do it too often, only if there is like 4-10 of them lined up on the a watchtower pad or something.

LOL, AWESOME!
And no it doesn't need fixing, this is rather realistic.

I tried doing that on the crown. The AA maxes never rendered. Then I got blown up because they could see me. Happened twice :(
Tried a third time and got a double kill. Personally, this is the easiest way to kill an aa max. you bout to get rammed the fuck over

This shouldn't be a problem, most pilots can't deliberately fly that accurate.

Cool video until you busted out the scrub missiles.

MAXs have the ability to dodge this (via the 'F' rush) so yeah, This is pretty damn cool
hahah aa scrubs get out played

Oh joy, wonderful. More evidence that air can pull off easy kills. :(
Because it won't take much for people to start "roadkilling" if this is the result....

Yup it's a good tactic, something that the hover cert makes a lot easier since you can ascend and descend so fast. Anyone smart enough to stay near the rails are much harder to hit since you landing gears come down when you're near a pad. The only real way to prevent this is for the MAX units to work together in tandem which usually means very good communication and teamwork and that is very rare. Most just spam the air with FLAH when they see an aircraft and rarely concentrate fire.

You act as if ESFs can just ram maxes wherever they feel inclined. Never mind terrain, other enemies, precision, approach angles, a million other variables including enemy competence, and most of all render distance.

So using the afterburner prevents the landing mechanic from sucking you into the ground? This is always the problem I have when flying low. It's nice that noobs can now land their planes without taking damage, but I liked it better in beta when you could skim the ground without having to worry about crashing.

Haha did this exact same thing near Tarwich with a Mossie. There was an NC sunderer parked up on a flat mesa where about 50 guys and a dozen AA MAX units were camped on. Took them by surprise and came up from behind road-killing a few. Took about three or four more passes and ended up getting maybe 20 kills. Probably should have gone for the sundy in the first place, but I was laughing too hard smearing all them smurfs across the rock. Its a viable tactic if you can catch them off guard. Other wise they'll just pick you out of the sky before you can even reach them.
we need to nerf AA more imo

Didn't know people still used MAX Units, they suck in Planetside 2 lol.
Especially with the Deci now, constantly just one shotting MAX units with it, worse than the OP Deci in Planetside.

Pure gold, the music i was hearing just made it more awesome (Space Monkeys vs. Gorillaz - Re-Hash). That is imo one of these moments i am playing online games for.
Also i don't see anything wrong gameplay-wise there, just seems like a skilled pilot to me. I would break my fingers or my kb if i would try to pull that off.

I don't remember if it was used in PS1 but this kind of tactic is used since BF1942. At least it takes some skill, not like spamming rockets.

I can't see that as a problem. Worked for OP only because terrain around Tawrich. Wouldn't work on Esamir and it might work on Amerish (but less effective). Also, skill is a good factor at this.

I'm willing to bet once people figure out this is a viable strategy, they will start doing. Might take a bit more skill than just spamming rocket pods, but I bet it wouldn't take much at all.

I Beta I crushed tons of tanks by landing a Galaxy on them, but now that doesn't seem to be doing any damage to them anymore.

Did this today on the crown with Hover 3, much easier. Took at a burster that never even rendered.

From my experience, they have to render to be able to hit them. I've tried ramming people a bunch of times at the crown and unless I go slow as I approach, it won't hit people because they don't render.
