View Full Version : Fighting the VS

I have to admit, as an NC, fighting the VS on Helios is like some kind of horrible nightmare.
While individually, TR players seem a bit tougher, the VS are all fearless. They don't take cover. They don't try to flank. Some of them don't even bother to shoot. They just swarm towards you like fucking ants, regardless of casualties. Several corpses later, they've whittled you down enough for some guy to get lucky. Even dual hacksaws with extended mags and maxed kenitic armor only delays what's coming.
As a guy who uses cooldowns/resources extensively (Reaver, Vanguard, MAX units), this tactic is damn intimidating. My respect to the VS infantry. It takes guts to fight like that.

I prefer fighting VS... their projectiles are easier to see and their voices more distinct.

NC and VS seem to be the opposite on Mattherson. From my perspective, the VS seem vehicle dependant. Take a Allatum and spawn some maxes, they can't do anything. An NC infantry zerg seems to roll over any other infantry. But once we get close to an enemy warpgate, we get swarmed with vehicles and get pushed back. While retrograding, the NC slowly whittle down the enemy vehicles while losing outposts and then the process starts all over again.

Wait til you fight them at night. Every other faction you see just fine. VS on the other hand are almost perfectly camouflaged at dusk. It's a real problem.

I prefer a Pandora with Slug Ammo.

I think every faction is pretty hard to see at night, but I will say this, its the heavy assault in every faction that gets it real bad at night. When they pop those shields its like a christmas tree in a window. I remember one evening battle on amerish I was firing from some trees at a sundy that was parked. They were firing in my direction and I was getting grazed, so I poped my shields and I think everybody targeted in on my ass even the sundy :( I got hit with everything but the kitchen sink (though I think that hit me to). I guess thats the price to pay just to live a little longer.
There is more of them, they can afford to throw themselves towards most any of the map since they pretty much out pop TR and NC on the server

I don't like the serpent, the fast firerate also make the gun that empty the quickest, so if you miss so and so.. you be changing clip while the others finish you off ^^
But finally as we also spoke about in outfit forum is, there is no real upgrade maingun wise, only side grades and comes down to preference in the end ^^

ASSIMILATION is inevitable, so why don't you all just save everyone a lot of time and convert.....now !!!
On a serious note, we VS are heavily Vehicle dependent. I will happily admit that whenever we take a base, the next thing you see is a sea of Magriders swarming their way to the next target, bashing each other out of the way, flipping each other over (yeah thanks for rank 3 of any frame that makes it 10X easier to get flipped)....
Seriously, one time, was in Peris, and I swear there were so many magriders I could have lined them all up and walked on top of them from Peris to Tarwich without touching the ground.
..... it was beautiful ;)

I kinda of agree, There's not much in it between the VX6-7 and the Serpent apart form the Fire rate, and tbh, with all the ADADADA that goes on, the Serpent is actually at a detriment because you end up reloading whilst the other guy walks up to you and smacks you in the face with his pantaloons.
I use 3 loadouts for Engineer and 3 loadouts for Light Assualt depending on the situation:-
LA
NOVA : Nothing like a shotgun in the face to brighten anyone's morning
VX6-7 : For normal Carbine lovin
Solstice SF : Its the one that can carry an underslung Grenade launcher
Engineer
Pandora : Has less ammo then Nova but as an Engineer if you play right, you can always be dropping ammo packs before engaging a group of enemies, so always get resupplied, and that full auto shot gun is an i-WIN button
VX6-7 : again normal Carbine luvin.
Solstice SF : grenade launcher.

It's the same way for TR on Waterson. The zergs are getting ridiculous too, makes defending Bio Labs very difficult against them. Ymir yesterday was a new low for me on the render distance. I was above the generator at point B?, where the stairs look down towards the outpost teleport room and there was a bunch of VS firing towards the bottom of the stairs. I was on top of the stairs, not seeing anything, so I walked down to see if they were firing through the doorways and like 100 TR MAX's rendered on the bottom floor once I got halfway down the stairs - died instantly. Once I respawned I realized that infantry wasn't rendering halfway between the SCU and spawn room, it was bad.
I have to say though, I had a ton of fun up until that point of the fight. After we got pushed out of Ymir we made our way quickly to Andvari and held up in there long enough for other VS to re-take bases around the continent so we did not lose the lock.

I run LA Pandora as well, recently changed from the Nova, with the ammunition belt upgrades so I have 60 ammo. I also do not use slug ammo, I certed into it but I really don't like it. I use it almost exclusively at Amp Stations for the outside turret towers/walls and in Bio Lab assault/defense situations. Usually I can find ammo from an Engineer by hoping around those walls enough. I don't play engineer a whole lot if I'm not in a vehicle, but I've been using the Eidelon when I do. Usually if I'm playing engineer as infantry I'm repairing a MAX, so the battle rifle helps me stay out of sight a bit while still doing some damage.

I use GD-7F which has the same ROF and DPS. But the sepent has less COF bloom.
