This is an idea I've had for a while to make outposts give benefits to the facilities that they are close by to give them more purpose than just cap points with resources.
I have a couple different types of outposts in mind that would give different benefits to the facility that they are close to. They could create a lattice that shows which outposts are linked to what facility and what type of outpost they are.
Outpost Types I've thought of:
Power Station:
Gives power to the base to keep the shields up on walls, turrets, doors to spawns, etc, etc! Maybe they could even have a vehicle like the ANT(Advanced Nanite Transport) that has to go to these power stations to refuel them and absorb the power from a warp gate first then go to them like in ps1.
Resource Mining Facility:
Since it looked like some of these already existed, these could be resource for a base to keep letting people producing vehicles if these were captured by the enemy it cuts off the pool of resource to spawn vehicles so that base would eventually run out of its limit of vehicle spawns.
AI Control Command:
These outposts could give turrets AI operation to the nearby base so they will auto shoot at targets when no one is manning them. Maybe even allow for special command rank benefits that can be done at these places like allowing to place orbital strikes once those are put in game as well.
Nanite Refinement Center:
Lower costs of vehicles/infantry products that are spawned at the base attached to this outpost.
Medical Barracks:
Increase health regen/health benefit at nearby base attached and even have health generators in bases that were like in ps1 bases that will only work if this facility is owned by the faction owning the main base. Health generators were in ps1 bases that you could stand on and would heal troops/maxes.
Radar Outpost:
Gives radar to the main base connected and outposts showing all enemy movement except for troops around the bases/outposts attached to this outpost.
