What does vote manipulation look like? Lets look at the following paraphrased statements, all of which imply vote manipulation:
- I had this great idea guys. Upvote it so everyone can see it!
- MohawkSealedUnneurotic posted this thread. Downvote that asshole respectable person
- HATE ARC BIO UPVOTE THIS THREAD ON REDDIT
- All these other outfits suck downvote them

And herein lies the problem with Reddit.

It's no different than some of our local "ideasmiths" - post a thread and then link and pimp it in every vaguely related thread on the front page ad nauseum. Reddit just makes the process quantifiable. :)

It's not about who's post it is, it's about if mods detect any manipulation, they will delete the post, no matter how good it is.

Your opinion doesn't matter when it comes to moderation of Reddit.

You're right, of course; it's very easy to be cynical where reddit's concerned, even for no reason.

It's kinda hard to judge here. I mean, you're not trying to push a subjective opinion of yourself or your outfit over someone else's, but trying to call attention to a decent, well-thought-through Idea.
Problem is, according to other posters here, is that other people are also putting up similar Ideas and you MAY be seen as trying to push one Idea above the others, no matter what your association with it.
I agree that resources feel intangible. I agree that vote manipulation for petty, unconstructive reasons is bad. It's just that all creative people here got their own Ideas, and why we need to get them all out there, it's hard to get them all out equally.
If you can, collect them, list them, show list to as many devs as possible. And that'd fix this thread's point as well.

it is deplorable that the world does run on selfishness but it will keep on doing so if people do nothing about it just because they become too cynic . it becomes a vicious circle.
the treads is no longer about resources ; so we can make a discussion about how to make a reliable resource system or close this tread before it becomes a philosophical/political argument

well your last point makes a lot of sense maybe i should start to compile ALL the reddit ideas and send them to the appropriate devs

We might not (or should not) upvote the Reddit post but we CAN discuss it here and/or on Reddit.

We should do this on 4chan next time.

I posted up 4 MDMI entries and din't link them here once, just for the fairness of competition. I posted a double of on of the ideas here as a separate post without any links to reddit, since I wanted some discussion. Linking it with words "please upvote" will only result in votewars, which I perfectly understand the damage of, since reddit is not the only site that uses that system.
But if you want my opinion on it, here's the deal:
I like it. Very complex, yet very intuitive. Especially for anyone that Played "tiberian CnC's"
