Jennyboo and I will be headed to LA for the Ultimate Empire Showdown on Friday. We will likely have several interviews while we are out there to publish on our YouTube channel when we return.
I will be asking questions based off the 6 month plan we hear that day but I also wanted to solicit some community questions. Let's keep them juicy and based off things we haven't heard before - I won't have tons of time.

Are you working on implementing lattice or some sort of restructured hex system akin to the "neutral territory idea"(by Azure Twilight) ?
I know they've shot down lattice a bunch of times so not sure if you want to ask them.
Also, have you made any progress on infantry culling? It is a big immersion killer for a lot of people, not to mention a huge game-play flaw for a game that promises massive battles.

I think most of the stuff i can think off will be covered by their 6 month plan and info, but in general i want to know these:
- Buggys: When do they come, can be pulled at what terminals, what weapon options, what battlefield role, models for all 3 factions look how?
- New continents: When, all 3 at once or step by step? Which one first if step by step? Expected playstyles / signature attributes of each cont, other than "this is a swamp"?
- Warpgate network: Taking vehicles through warpgates? Removal of permanent footholds? Continent locks? Static or dynamic warpgate network? Broadcast warpgates? Bug them about as many details as you can, even though i expect they will not even have made a decision on that stuff.
- Empire specific AV: When, what, how?
- Population management / server merges / server transfers: Find out as many details as possible, and how they want to make sure we do not end up with even worse pop imballances.
- Everything about the XP reworking.
- Orbital strikes: I think that is a horrible, horrible idea by its very nature. Ask them how they intend to stop this from being a zero skill, high power, high victim frustration, low user risk ability.
- Two ( 3 ) man tank option: Any progress on that?
- Any plans for a fast, unarmed ~6 man transport plane to fill the gap between Gals and Mossies?
- How do they think Esports can fit into a game where there are 1001 factors outside of the control of any competitive player?
- Account wide unlocks, when?
- Player created content, when? Differences US / EU / Rest of the world?
- Outfit specializations / leveling / customization / ingame recruiting tools: What and when?
- Ask about false / reversed bans of players with high kill streaks / excessive killfarming. Should we be afraid if we do not film all our excessive kill farms?
- Max abilities: What and when? Will Maxes see more AV / AA options?
- Infiltrators: Recon tools? Sabotage tools? Shortrange options other than SMG? Melee options?
- Facility and continent benefits, will they change, if so, how?
- Resources and the value thereoff, what will change?
- Is it possible we will ever see turret stabilization on the Vanguard and Prowler, so they can fire on the move, and the turretless design of the Magrider becomes a real disadvantage and not just one that exists on paper?
- A2A missiles: Are there plans to make them more player skill based?
- Improved preview function that lets you combine camos, visuals and different weapons, and see how they look on your vehicle/character: When will we get such a thing?
- What is that ominous Bastion Carrier about?
- Lodestar or equivalent?
- Can we get an UI option to have the continent hex map on screen at all times?
- Can we get an /ignore playername command that allows us to stop recieving text chat messages from certain players?
- Any news on squad spawning on Galaxies?
- Assault Rifles for the HA: Did that idea get scrapped, or is it possible we will see it one day?
- Engineer deployables, what and when? Shields? Turrets? Telepads? ... ???
Generally, bug them for details on everthing they announce.

I second the server merge questions. Ask them if they are aware of the low-medium populations across most servers, even during prime time.

I'd like to know their thoughts (and plans) on:
- RTS/Sandbox elements/"meta game" (base fortifying, base building?)
- Concerning mapping: Doors? Water? Windows? Intentional lack of these or limitation of the engine? If intentional, why?
- Immersion, "MMO" Feel: All from holstering weapons over sanctuaries up to square continents with "out of bounds areas" goes into this category; Basically i'd like to know what they have in mind to make PS2 feel more like a true, persistant world and less like a generic lobby shooter

any chance we'll see more tactical objectives for smaller squads at some point within my natural life time? if so, how far back on their backlog is it?
ie, rooms with generators we can do old style genholds in. maybe a way to force bases to go neutral would be nice, defensible bases, a return to capture the flag (llu) are just a few ideas.

Any it's kinda hard thinking of something to ask when we don't know what will be answered in their big plan. Although I've been out of the loop for some time now...
Are you [the devs] planning on redesigning the Prowler? (Turret placement, chassis, gun mechanics, mounted secondary weapons.. You get the idea)

(1) Will a strategic level be added to the game within the 6months plan?
(Mini sancs, latices between warpgates etc or similar)
(Separate instanced 3 way maps is NOT strategy.)
(2) Will future maps have more for smaller outfits to do?
(Squad size, aka 12 guys.)
(3) Will future structures be a bit more oriented toward incentivicing Galaxy drops?
(Gen room on roof of bases. Tower stairways ala PS1 where smaller units can drop on the top and fight their way down into the base instead of just always via ground level entrances etc. Current Techlab roof down stream which = suicide )
(4) Is it possible to have a render ONLY air when flying option?
(Hard to fly when you get low and suddenly you go to 1fps in a dog fight...)
(5) Is there any chance you will balance tank warfare to become a bit more ranged and less HE oriented by changing AP weapons?
(As in for example buffing AP vs armor, increasing shell speed and lowering arch to make it a better ranged choice than HE / HEAT vs tanks at the cost of little infantry damage.)

1) will we ever get a ce hud?
we have mines, we have claymores, but we have no way to tell where they are,or if they are still up, and if i should lay more down.... ce hud plays a pretty vital role in combat engineering.
2) jammer/emp nades, will more classes have access to them at some point?
these played a very important roll i ps1 and i think it would help infantry to combat armor in a cgc situations.

AV max was pretty mean in ps1, in ps2 you get loled if you have certed into it.

We will be getting extra questions and Matt has said we'll get an inter-continental meta game when we have enought continents to support it.
How many continents does Matt think it will need?
Are there any thoughts about:
dynamic XP for base capture and resecure?

I would like to know if they are looking at the efficiency of some weapons, especially the slower firing ones. Especially with shotguns the slower firing (but faster reload) ones (Thanatos for VS) are simply not on par with the others. Currently there isn't really a single reasons to take anything else then the Nova. The game (in most to all situations) favors high-rof weapons and the downsides of those guns outweigh their benefits.
Also if they are looking at those weapons which are often deemed to be too versatile like (eg) the Zephyr and HE tanks gun, making hardcounters like AP guns often a less viable choice?
Connected to the question above: refitting for vehicles? So annoying to pull a Skyguard and then being unable to switch your main gun when all air has vanished...
Another question if they are thinking about redoing some of the cert stuff that has been criticized in the past. Like armor/shield certs being universal and not individual unlocks.
Some incoming love for AV Maxes?

The enemy amount indicators for each hex - can we get a clarification on exactly what each description means (eg. enemy platoon, enemy platoons, enemy squads, etc.) - it seems to be lower than what I thought... not a big deal, just curious about the actual numbers.
Also - I'd love to have a friendly amount indicator.

I'd be interested in finding out if they have any plans to add empire-specific upgrade/sidegrade options for NS vehicles (such as the Lightning, especially), or if expanding empire-specificity is going to be limited to entirely new empire specific vehicles.

Also along the lines of customization, will we be seeing any in-depth customization of weapons?
Right now I feel like we're looking at the exact same attachments that battlefield 3 provides us with.
Is SOE planning to add some originality in the whole way that customization is approached?
You know, battlefield = attachments, blacklight you practically build your own gun.
I wouldn't see any harm in going more in the way of blacklight, with more attachment slots than there are currently. i.e. barrels, stocks, magazines.

Are there any plans for anything similar to ANT runs (possibly base-to-base/outpost or WG to base).
Why was the spawn ability removed from Galaxies and there's been a mention of them returning, is there an rough ETA if any? (Biolab assaults were way more awesome with an AMS gal).
Infiltrator stalker camo, any ETA if any. (Stoked to use it since I recently heard that Infiltrators can use SMGs now)
Physix, when will it be re-enabled?
Are there any plans to add hot drop effects from players dropping out of Galaxies.
Dark nights, why was this changed.

My Big Question: Are they making a more ranger/sniper looking suit for the Infiltrator (that we can buy with Station Cash)? Not all of us are into the skin suit undies.

Will we start seeing new base types (Interlink, Dropship or something new) with new continents?
If so will we we see any of them replace existing bases on the current conts?
Will we ever see a generator that controls base benefits to give more meaning to spec ops crews who want to work behind enemy lines?

What, if any, ideas do they have to enable smaller (squad sized) units/outfits to more actively participate in the game? An example would be such as Gen/tower holds.
General/teaser information about:
Loadstars, Phantasms, Harassers/Deli's, Jammers and Punisher (and other NS weapons.)
Any information pertaining to Cross-Continental warfare (global lattice) to include anything about Sanctuaries (and the eventuality that home continents would potentially need to hold every single faction member in the event of a zero basing.)
Mission system. Anything you can wheedle out of them about this would be fantastic!
Please, for the love of God, ask about the mission system! We need to play with it!

Ask them what they are doing about the rampant hacking problem. For the past 48 hours or so hackers have been spawning in-game assets(turrets), making people float, and warping them to random places on the map. It's getting out of hand and we need a response to know what soe is doing about it. I no longer feel confident in my own abilities because how do I know my stats aren't being affected by a hacker? How do I know one of them isn't adversely affecting my run speed, health, rof, accuracy etc? How do I know my station cash purchases are secure?
Be sure to ask them something about the TTK involving headshots in CQC. ...IE: whether it's working as intended.
This is definitely something they need to be cornered on and answer for since they've obviously been making "Skill Floor" changes to several Vehicle weapons lately (mostly AOE "inner radii" damage numbers) to make the TTK that Infantry are experiencing against those weapons last a bit longer on average. It's especially relevant (if you think about it long enough) to your personal campaign for a meaningful "Meta" via base layout changes and everything else that's planned in the future.

Infantry rendering issue, when can we expect a fix?
This is becoming even more important due to the prevalence of fire and forget weapons, the amount of times I've died to non rendering infantry in my magrider, traveling 10yds forwards makes 40+ enemy to suddenly appear 30yds in front of you all shooting at you.
forget meta game this is a major game breaker at the moment

1, BR and medals showing in uniforms by default coming or not ?
2, 2months gone, what\s been done and what is in the game testing atm. Like metagame etc.
3, Turn over rate of players, aren\t they conserned at all about how many new people join and leave before lvl30.. is metagame the solution for this in their opinion or is their view on this topic something different.
4, How are they going to adress the fact that if you do balance changes to vehicles etc.. the effects are different on low and high pop servers where the for example amount of anti/air or anti vehicle weapons are different because fight size changes drastically especially when you compare low pop server outside prime time and high pop server during prime time. How do you balance that what comes from the fact populations on servers are different making certain changes have different practical effects.
5, Outfit ranking per server.. Like avg xp etc.. Dunno stuff like that.. Or squad xp avg..Tbh more like, when is leaderboards getting fixed... PSU works.. why doesn\t ingame.
Anyways will try to think up few more questions, but it seems there\s already some good ones.. if you get answers, will decide on based that if I continue playing or not. The point is coming where I can consider my work more intresting than this game..is pretty worrying to me, when I get more satisfied in completing my work tasks than this games play session.

Questions:
- Will dumped down game mechanic stay or be removed ?
- Will the game go more towards organized sandbox or mindless zerg spawns ?
- Will there be encryption added to the client and why not if not added ?
- Will there be server side checks for aiming to remove hacks and if not, why not ?
General question to developers:
The development style is old and not good standard at all. The developers should be more open and involve community a lot more. Really good example of what im talking about is path of exile developers.

are the devs ready to try and put in some more of the PS1 elements that actually worked good? (real infiltrators, useful CE, hacking(not cheating),etc.) basically the things, the veterans were asking for since alpha.
i understand that the devs wanted to test out something new first, but now that we know which ideas work and which don´t work, it´s time to roll back the stuff that doesn´t work and replace it with old stuff that did work for ps1.
Ask Higgles, what's wrong with him. There must be something really wrong to make that many bad design decisions.

(I registered at the forum just to ask for this. It's the only thing about PS2 that I really can't stand and I know I'm not the only one. No feedback from the devs so far, so this might be a good opportunity.)

Sadly, we've been asking this since beta began. A few times they wrote, "it's coming". Maybe they meant to type, "wait for the second coming"? Hopefully this issue (and the colorblind issue that people have asked about for 9 solid months) gets resolved.

besides the usual questions, meta game, bugs, optimization,
Faction hopping on the same server, it shouldn't be in the game but it won't get removed now so some kind of timer to restrict it, tr pop on my server tends to shoot up and vs declines at the same time, clearly people jumping to tr, also sundies getting taken out by low level friendlies, clearly sabotage from faction jumpers, this is beginning to irritate me

forget meta game this is a major game breaker at the moment
they're doing it for reason,
current state of optimization and hardware won't allow this, game would be unplayable in large battles

Thought of another one!
Have the devs considered adding more airpads to the warpgates? It can get a bit messy when there's a lot of aircraft around wanting to rearm and repair.

Causality fallacy.
As for my question... when weather effects are added will they have an effect on gameplay? I am thinking things like wandering around a tall mountain and getting struck by lightning...

1) Why tunnels and not teleporters?
2) Any plans on developing the MAX suit with more options? It feels kind of lack-luster in terms of unique options.
3) Server Merges. We need them.
4) Making certifications actually useful. I know it was intended that the majority of certs be pure side grades, but in the process you've made 90% of them bad or not cost effective to cert into. Good examples being the Ammunition Belt, Munitions Pouch(Which is just bad, and Advanced Shield Capacitor - as opposed to the likes of Flak Armour which is a must-have to survive on the field where pretty much everything bar bullets is Explosive Damage. This would include lowering the costs of certain certs(Example, Mana Turret upgrades are extortionately expensive for a 0.5 sec continuous firing time increase).
5) In the same vein of thought as (4), make more certifications universal. This would include C4 and Armours.
6) And as much as I despise vehicles, right now in extremely dense fighting, high threats to armour often don't render - Mass amounts of HAs firing on vehicles being an example often wont render and leave vehicles defenseless. As much as I enjoy that, PS2 is a game that's meant to have something for everyone in a big fight, and it can be kind of difficult for tankers to handle in those rare occassions where infantry render distance becomes so dire they can't render people shooting at them.

Broken record I know but can you ask the web developers why Briggs data isnt included in the API data atm plz, been a month now.
I know you have asked and they are aware but maybe this time they can give you an answer that can be shared with us.
They are launching player pages which I expect it will use the same data and like at launch I can sense Briggs getting the short end of the stick when its released.

Any update on Custom Outfit Logos?
The picture I use for my avatar was made by me and a good friend/outfit mate of mine, we'd love to be able to use it in game (larger image imbedded in my signature). Even if they have to be verified by SOE (to prevent vulgar images) it would be worth the wait.

Thought of yet another question! We've heard they're likely to be adding cert options for rocket launchers at some point, i'm curious if they're going to extend that to other things in the game that don't currently have cert upgrade options. I'm thinking mainly afterburner tanks on the ESFs here.

Ok back to some level of seriousness. SOE uses nVidia APEX framework as part of the engine for PS2. Google it if you want to learn more but basically it allows for accelerated destructible environments, enhanced clothing effects and advanced particle effects. On the 30th after the next update you'll be able to turn that physx option back on in the setup screen. To my understanding this will basically kick in APEX but more specifically for now the particle effects option. It will make quite a visual difference to the game. I can't help but wonder if they have been waiting for this to even think about enabling weather. We'll see but I think so but what of the people who have no nVidia GPU? Will this force the load on the CPU? Don't know.

Well, 4 questions if possible
1: Will we be seeing remakes of the PS1 rexo armours at some near future?
2: How far are they going with their "Badassification pass" on older weapons? Are all old weapons will be getting a remake? Will the lasher finally get its own model? What about the MCG? (I guess this is more than 4 now :D)
3: Any possibility of Alpha walls coming back? (Clegg told me that it's the Art department that calls the shots)
4: Darker nights coming?

Fishy's wish list for PS2:
1. Change the number icon for platoon members on the minimap, from a colored circle with a number in the center, to just a number which is overlaid everything else in the minimap. The current circles can obscure each other, and if therer are 4 squad members in the same room, you will see only one on your minimap, since the circles obscure each other. Also these circles add unecessary clutter to the (already dense) minimap.
2. Add the squad member number indication to drivers of vehicles.
3. Have a much clearer and bigger self indicator on the map. (I spend too much time finding myself on the map). Also, make the "center on self" button much bigger, and add a hotkey (ctrl+c) for centering the map on self.
4. There is a 1+ second delay from pressing 'M' until the map opens. For me it is an issue especially when driving vehicles \ flying an aircraft. Would be nice if the map opened in < 0.5 seconds.
5. Opening the map while in cruise control stops the vehicle. Please add a setting so my vehicles\aircraft will continue cruising while I am looking at the map.
6. Add a run-lock to foot soldiers (cruise control for my characters)
7. Add some distinctive sound feedback for accelerating or decelerating in an aircraft. Currently I can't tell by the sound if I am going fast or slow.
8. Disable "E" (exit vehicle) while flying above a certain altitude. Make mid-air-explosion the only way to die in an aircraft. I shouldn't be punished because I accidentally hit 'E" while flying.
9. There is an 8 hour cool-down between trying a weapon, and if it is the same weapon you wanna try twice you have to wait
30 days (!!!!). Would be REALLY nice to reduce the cool-down times, at least for paying members. After all we should have the chance to try out a few things before we buy them. Or, alternatively, give us a shooting range, and let's say, limit 30 minutes a day in the range, and only for paying members.
One last last thing - I know this is not directly related to the devs, but I just wanted to share this with everyone.
A couple of weeks ago I had a chat with a CR regarding an issue with my account. I was asked to verify my account by giving my personal info, security question\answers etc. I then noticed the chat session was not encrypted (not over https) .... with all of the security measures Sony has taken I was surprised. Anyhow, my suggestion would be not to give personal info over the chat support until it changes.

I would like to know what SOE thinks the future of the Lightning tank is?
It just seems to me that the Lightning gets more and more superfluous.
Currently it's a tank you pull because you either cannot afford a MBT (which rarely happens) or it's on cooldown (which happens). But most of the time you pull a Lightning because you have no adjacency to a Tech Plant.
It simply does not have anything for it that would anybody make to choose a Lightning over a MBT in almost any situation. Especially now when we can put bursters on tanks. The Lightning cannot do anything (and especially no better) that a MBT cannot do. It's smaller chasis is countered by the increased health of the MBTs, the MBT can be driven by a single person too and has more punch.
The only thing the Lightning has is its speed, but you are rarely ever able to use it to your advantage.

I cannot login every day but it would be cool if I would still be able to spend my smedbucks on those deals. If I cannot it just takes longer until I have to refill them ;)

Please ask if they are going to make any changes to the resource system. Right now its pretty broken. You cant cut off resources, you always have it. It basically does nothing. They need a way for empires to control resources (like my region idea (http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/resources-making-the-hex-system-better.74988/) :))

No, I do too. But most of the people don't seem to see how awesome the Lightning can or could be. But for it to be truly effective you need more of them (played well) and people simply don't seem to see it as a viable choice.
