My outfit has a huge percentage of active duty military and prior-service veterans. We are all over this and stand ready to support this event in whatever way possible.

Sorry, I don't support war :/
.sent via phone.
I do not support war either, but this is to support those that have been severely injured during a war.
There are a lot of individuals who join the military for the GI bill at a young age. They join for four years, then leave the military to better themselves through school since they could not pay for it after high school.
Unfortunately a lot of those individuals end up going to war and get so injured that their life is turned around at the age of what.... 19...20?
I would research the wounded warrior project and find out what it is about first.
Of course school is not the only reason, it is one thing I think of all the time.

This is an excellent cause to support those who gave much for their country and often times the world. I've moved this to PlanetSide 2 Discussion to get greater visibility.
If you are thinking about posting your lame political message in this thread think twice - it will not be tolerated. Infractions will be handed out and posts deleted. This thread is about raising money for wounded veterans - not commenting on world and US policy.
We have a forum for that. (http://www.planetside-universe.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31)

Although this doesn't concern my military, I can always appreciate charity events.
Too bad I already have my 3 characters developed on my SOE account. But who knows, I might consider making an additional SOE account for this.

Oh I know it is, I wouldn't be deleting a character with SC unlocks to roll for this if it wasn't :p
All 3 of my chars are on Waterson, but neither my TR nor VS see much action.

i think it´s a good thing to do charity events in ps2!
hope, i´m not risking an infriction when i suggest to support some other charity next time, that wouldn´t spawn political discussions like this.
the politicians try to demonize egoshooters where they can, and making a connection to real war - even in a charity way - may be fueling the fire.
but nobody would argue against charity events for natural desaster fonds as an example.
none the less, using ps2 for charity is a good decision! great idea!

This is my final warning. Temporary bans will be issued from here on out to people whom would rather debate the charity than just move on.
If you don't like the charity don't participate there are plenty of other threads to read.
There is an option if you really want to debate it, and it's in this location (http://www.planetside-universe.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31).
Call it "Censorship" if you want to. Your right to free speech is not guaranteed on a private internet forum.

I served in military, but myself never participated in any actual combat. However my family has at least one serviceman in each generation and my grand grandfather, along with my father did see some nasty things during their life, like WWII and Russian AFG and 2nd Chechen campaigns so, my respects to the peeps.
Though I doubt my timezone will allow me to participate.

I have so many family members in the military. The Air Force has been a part of me since well before even my father was born. The Wounded Warrior project is such an amazing cause. Supporting it by playing our favorite online games is such a kool idea. You can totally count me in. And you can bet I will be practically forcing my friends to take part in the fun too!

Hey guys! I'm European, but I'll support this definitely - because I know how traumatic (physically and psychically) this can be. I was sent with the 3rd contingent of the Bundeswehr to Afghanistan and got a graze shot, while my comrades got severaly injured. I still have a suddenly appearing panic problem and a post-traumatic stress syndrome with bad dreams and so called flashbacks.
And I know the hard it is for american soldiers to get support, after having offered their life for their country.
I mean, yes. War isn't anything someone can say it's good. But it is there. And sometimes, people decide to serve under the banner of their country, others do take bad decisions and others simply are obligated.
If you want to blame someone, blame your politicians. Blame the citizen for supporting it. But don't blame those, who were at war and camed back.
Seriously.

Well said! And agreed - this is the point I'm trying to get across. ;)

Why not? Did the soldier not willingly choose to become a soldier?

It's always so simple from the other side... "You're hurt, because you chose to be a soldier" is just equal to saying, "You died on 9/11, because you were working in one of the towers, your fault".

Not at all. The purpose of a soldier is to go to war, and it's not exactly a secret that war is dangerous. If you don't want to get into a firefight on foreign soil you should not join the army, it's not that hard. The victims of 9/11 did not choose anything like that.

And the purpose of this thread is for people to support a cause if they choose to, not debate why or why not someone is a solider and whether or not they chose to be hurt.
Topic, stay on it.

I expected such response. Soldiers do not go to war to get shot, nor to shoot anybody (despite the common misconception). That's the job of stuntmen and human guinea pigs. Soldiers go to war to protect their country or to protect the innocent.
War is a last resort measure when words are not enough, and people that realise that there's much more shades of grey, than everyone thinks, agree that sometimes to do good, you have to do evil. And since there're always people, that tend to do uneducated shoutouts (my hint at what I think about your first post on this page), trolls and people that only think profit (and power, which is also profit), causing war, there will always be war. Constant conflict is in human nature, and you will be surprised to learn that actual military men tend to be way more pacifistic and objective, than those who haven't seen war.
As my final point, there're two realtively unrelated things, I'd like to point out:
1. Why hippies are really despised by (educated) people, is because they wage war on war... See the controversy?
2. I beg to differ. There's an acquaintance of mine, who lost his hand (hand, not arm), during the 2nd Chechen campaign, but he managed to get over it, pull his act together and to find work. He now lives rather happily with his wife and a kid, despite his what one would call "disability". And then, there're dozens of broken men, dressed in camo, wondering around our metro and asking for handouts. I, myself, differ and I do not appreciate treating the latter and the former alike, but this doesn't mean you should not pay your respects to the soldiers, that have to spill their blood for the better world.

Amazing opportunity to help those who's sacrificed so much for people they will never meet. In many cases, that is us, folks. It's awesome to find ways to give something back! As a combat veteran, I thank everyone involved from the bottom of my heart.
Unfortunately, I will be on duty through most of that time and unable to participate.
