General
Players may note the following changes:

A number of Server and Client stability optimizations have been made.
The Heavy Assault Shield should no longer fail to work after respawning.
The Deployment screen now features top defensive locations on the continent as respawn points.
Instant Action will now send players to areas with more combat.
New players will now be placed at a spawn point in a battle instead of being drop podded in.

Liberators/Galaxies:

These aircraft are now easier to lock-on to with anti-air missles. By default you can lock on to them 1 second faster. This means it requires 2.5 seconds to lock on to an ESF and 1.5 seconds to lock-on to a Liberator/Galaxy.
Lock on rockets and missiles should now hit more frequently and are harder to dodge.
Lock-on weapons can only be avoided by the following:
Flares
Forcing the missile to hit something else
Outrunning it which requires you to be distant and burn a lot of fuel
A very near miss which should be very challenging

Should be interesting.

But why the Hotfix during East Coast prime time?

As a lib gunner/pilot I saw something like that coming. Good on them for not just nerfing the lib more though.

The rest of it looks really really good, especially the defend points. What defines "Top defensive point" though. Is that some squad leader who clicked his "Call for re-inforcements" button?

I hate drop podding. Last night was the ONLY time I got not one but two kills before I got nuked. Every other time I drop and die.

Oh great, just what Air - to - Air combat needed, increasing the viability of skill - less A2A missiles compared to fighter guns.

Why do they hate my gal? There's so few real gal pilots as it is. Sure hope this is all leading up to a mecha-mode for the galaxy because otherwise gals are turning into a novelty.

They should let people spawn in galaxies while flying. That would be epic.

At least give us a tractor beam so I can abduct people.

Indeed. The other day I decided to make a character on Connery, so I would have something to play during the event, and it dropped me into Zurvan when it was completely controlled by the VS. I managed to hide and sneak out, but as a new player... that would have been completely useless and likely a bit frustrating.

"Don't worry about dying" the guys says. OK, but where do I go and what do I do when I am alive? How do I, "take as much territory" as I can? Poor genuinely new people of the past...

This change is a good one. At least it gives new people the chance to ask someone what's going on before they take an HE round to the face. The other changes are good as well.

It felt like it used to take more ammo than i could hold to kill a lib with lock on A2A's...

Looks like the hot fix broke the turrets, so they don't do damage. Oops!

I second this. I would love to just tractor beam everyone goofing off at the warp gate and ferry their arses over to the battle then menu->locked

Drop them into the fray.

I mentioned this in the official forum, but a lot of us put certs into radar for the extra 1 second of lock-on. Flying around today and the lock-ons are now back to the default which is basically instant. If I had known they would have buffed them I probably would have went with flares to actually block the rockets.

I'm hoping they do something like change the cert to buff an extra 2 seconds against only G2A rockets. Right now the cert feels pointless. It already wasn't that great, but it was something.

The problem is that there are just too many ways to avoid getting hit by lock on shoulder fired missiles.

A fairly good pilot with flares and stealth should rarely ever get hit - and thats not how the game is inteded to be. Immunity(or practical immunity) is bad game design.

I actually suggested lowering lock-on time on here a while ago...oops. I hope this doesn't make it too hard on you pilots lol.

But I'm glad they're giving G2A some love. I used it during when it was mostly a waste of time. When the air is hovering close by you can't wait too long to lock-on before you're blown to bits.

I guess they could make more lock-on time for further targets, and less for closer targets...just if things need to be balanced out.

I'm glad G2A launchers are getting a buff.. not sure why A2A missiles are though.

I still don't get the logic of making G2A really avoidable through dodging etc when you already have the advantage of being able to get away from the relatively stationary target it was fired from, but having A2A missiles be pretty much unavoidable.

Checked out the patch real quick last night before bed...

From what I could tell the new Defensive Spawn options were creating a really good fight. I think this is a great solution to all the "Can't ever find a fight" complaints. There was always a strong flow of defenders now spawning out.

I Like.

Hm, I just instant actioned and to a zone adjacent to a TR zone and I was placed into a heavy battle between the two other empires. :/

An outfit-mate and I found a bug. When engaging in infantry firefights, suddenly my strafing keys felt delayed and muddy, like my soldier had suddenly stepped in a vat of glue. Noticed it in HA and as a MAX.

Anybody else?

I have experienced this before a few times. Dunno what it is. It vanished after opening the menu/map several times. Which surely doesn't help during combat ;)

Did your mouse sensitivity also take a crap during that time? That's happened to me a couple of times (only lasts a few seconds, but it's annoying), and i've seen other people mention it too.

First time I got hit by one I thought I was just lagging too.

Those are the effect of concussion grenade. It has a huge blast radius and can sometimes hit through walls and sometimes you can't see it explode at all.

Drop Pods were always so useless when I played, you'd pod in and it was a giant beacon showing the enemy where you are, always just had a vehicle waiting to kill me. I never felt that the base spawn stuff was very good either, it seems to sporadic like in terms of where you can spawn, never consistent. The Sunds are crap as well, they need to just call it an AMS and give it a cloak...

The biggest problem though with spawning is you can never spawn to defend because if you do you'll just be spawn camped and that isn't fun, so I always just went back to the warp gate and fly over to where we're attacking or change cont to where we have a zerg going.

I have experienced this several times as well, on different servers. I don't know if it has been fixed with the patch, as I haven't played since it was released. Time will tell, I suppose.
