Does anyone know the actual numbers behind the low/medium/high descriptors? I.e. how many players does it take to move the server from low to medium, or medium to high?

It wouldn't surprise me if SOE held these numbers closely, but maybe we can make a good estimate? If you are guessing/estimating, please give your reasoning.

Nope - this info is secret and likley won't ever make it into public view. All we can do is guesstimate based off of various services that record what games people are playing.

Yeah... it's really sad that we don't know the actual numbers. They promoted the game with 2000 players per server (which is a continent), but I still don't really believe it ;)

I don't know anything about server population, but the peak of players on Steam is around 12k.

Off topic, I don't see why DOTA 2 has so many players. I've tried it, it's good, but not 200k players daily good...

If I were SOE I would take that info to my grave, because it is something they would never recover from.

Someone should do some calcuations on this, we do know the steam numbers. Doesn't the PSU leaderboard roughly show how many characters there are on each server too? Also 6000 people/server.

I bet we will never know.

You may be able to do some fancy figuring using the leaderboard but that thing only works for me once a week or so.

The only population thing I like to see is I normally hit TAB right as I enter a battle to see what my rank is and how many people (roughly) are in the fight. Can be interesting sometimes.

Once the api opens fully you'll be able to work it out i would think

Just using some basic logic i would guess low 0-1999, medium 2000-3999, high 4000+

The only player numbers we have is steam, which currently ps2 varies from around 9-12k players on at once, so maybe double that number. Game population in 18-25k at a time

Its a valve game, they have a cult following, plus its has the best business model in f2p for the consumer. Plus its fairly easy to get into and be decent at it

Low is probably 0-500. Medium is 501-5000, and high is 5001-6000.

I play 2 factions, both on different servers and one of them has been a ghost town recently and the other one is becoming a snooze fest after 2am, when I most like to play. Can't wait for transfer tokens, since I have a gut feeling a server merger might put too much strain on them at peak times and wont be able to handle everyone without a 5m rendering distance at the Crown.
