I just stumbled on this:

(In essence, they seem to be thinking about implementing "auto" taunting, or customized killscreens respectively).
What do you people think about that?

Can't say I care for this. I'm pretty annoyed by the fact the game forces you to see the kill screens when you can do something more valuable with those ten seconds.
So far we have empire specific running animations and now kill screen customization with taunting on the list of this plan.
How about an extensive voice macro menu? Like TF2? Or more importantly, the original planetside?

The only taunt I'd ever care to see implemented would be the ability to have your NC character palm its crotch after killing someone.
I'd love to kill someone than Zoidberg away, grabbing my crotch with one hand and making some cheesy one-liner.

lol a custom trash talk taunt in the kill screen would give a little duke nukem humor to the game imo.

I think i would like (or better: tolerate) taunts/animations that work like voice commands in combination with the killcam showing your killer. This is not to give his position away but rather for him to taunt you more "dynamically" instead of some premade crap.
Also there is NOTHING like seeing your killer being shot because he had to goof off for you. It's my favorite part in "Battlefield Heroes", and that never gets old. Ever.
Also it would be a good way to flesh out the whole "voice command/emoticon" area, because currently that part still is a horrible mess (I can't even ask for a gunner...).
Add more "voice commands" ("emoticons" respectively), refine them with additonal animations, or just add some animations for the hell of it (think "/dance" "/salute" etc.).
It all adds up to the game feeling more social and "mmo" - or the other way round the game feels less alive without them.
It's the small things, man.

I would much rather be able to text something useful, like "sniper on top of tower" whilst waiting to respawn.

Ohhh yeah. The inability to type something in the spawn-screen drives me nuts everytime. Especially when you look at Teamspeak and such, there is no reason you should not be able to communicate while being dead.
Sometimes when this or something similar happens i can't help it but wonder if these devs ever made (or even played) a (non-deathmatch) FPS before. :p

You can, it's just hidden in the social tab.
Topic at hand: lol, what a waste of time and a terrible community building system (unless the goal is to make the most toxic community possible). Really starting to think this game needs less Matt Higby (a person who boasts about being a griefer) and more Dave Georgeson (a person who has way more experience and knows what community building gameplay systems are all about). No insults here, just pointing out the different mentality and directions.

Automatic taunts seems fairly juvenile. Kinda surprised they want to put it in. I'm trying to think of a game where taunting has been a positive contribution and am coming up blank. Taunting's pretty much just a thing dumb people and tiny babies do when they play games like Halo or whatever. Why facilitate that?

I like to taunt ppl via /yell its soo effective making enemy concentrate on chat reader then battle, especially when you are outnumbered :D
but heaving generic taunts it will be effective only first week after that nobody will pay attention
i wold rather buy some sort of salute animation or hand pointing
JUST IMAGINE YOUR OUTFIT DOING THIS AWESOMENESS

I thought Blacklight implemented this pretty cleanly. I can understand why people don't like it, but it would be a heck of a revenue driver, and would otherwise have no gameplay effect whatsoever. I'd hope people keep that in mind.

Shocking.
But even if you're on for money you can do better than selling backgrounds and text for your killscreen...
That is why they need to not be lazy and sell animations!! Just think of all the waving, dancing and pelvic thrusting soldiers being run over by galaxies. That, without any sarcasm, is way better. And still juvenile. So basically a win-win situation.

i dont mind it, but proximity chat etc is there for a reason. for example, my platoon was taking over a base, and we used mostly tanks, AMSs and infantry etc, and i drove my prowler over a hill to see a whole bunch of NC tanks rolling towards us trying to flank us. i simply said in platoon chat "A SHIT LOAD OF TANKS ARE COMMING IN FROM THE EAST HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT" problem solved.
although, people without mics should have a voice commo rose like bf2/2142/3's.
and the taunt animations would be baddass XD

Personally I think it's a stupid addition.

I get annoyed with "Your best is my worst" taunt now, these proposed taunts would just make my blood pressure go up more.
I'd love to see a "GG" or "nice shot, ace!" voice macro rather than more insults.

Not sure about taunts, but Insult Swordfighting (http://www.scummbar.com/community/games/swordfighting/) is all the rage in the Caribean. :)
That said, if there's ever one thing to utterly and I mean completely waste dev time on, it'd be this.

Agreed. Plus I don't think it would make our community 'bad' for this. There's always some stupid people who cares so much that they start calling other players' moms as b**ches when someone accidentally kill them with a tank, for example, and there's a lot of guys like this in this game.
There should be a clear screen for when we wanna take screenshots to render our characters, or just an auto-render system with these taunts. Not something everyone would need or ask for, but still I would enjoy it.

Ya. Its pretty dumb. Now, I know I'm about to say a very bad word here so I apologize. The system of personal tags found in Call of Duty (its ok. breathe.) would actually be a great alternative. You could buy name backgrounds and icons, earn some through achievement, have outfit icons, etc. You would only see it at the death screen and not have it pop up annoyingly with every kill. It could be pretty cool and avoid any trash talk.
