View Full Version : In game voice communication rarely ever works

Ever since I bought a mic for this game, there were only two times I managed to get voice comms working. How? I couldn't tell you.
I've tried every "fix" for this bug: relogged, reinstalled, opened all the recommended ports, looked through .ini, enable/disable toggle. Everything.
Apparently this is a common bug, yet no one ever seems to talk about it.
I know for a fact all my hotkeys, voice settings, etc. are all correct and should work, because both times my mic worked ingame it was after hours of play with absolutely no change to any settings. It would work seamlessly for hours only to stop functioning again with no warning.
I have a simple question for all of you. How well does your voice comms in game work, if at all? Can you hear others? Can you transmit sound? I'm not able to do either.
Please reply with a simple yes if your comms always work, I would really like to find out how common this bug is.

Whenever I find myself needing to use in-game voice, it works for me.

I have not had a problem with Vivox in PS2, but it was pretty unreliable in Star Wars Galaxies (requiring reloading the game and some command line thing I van't remember, mainly because I personally didn't use the feature often).

Every time I've used it it's worked. Which is only like twice.
Does the mic work fine in with other programs?

Although it's poor quality it works for me, not that I use it.

Outfit uses it everyday with no problems. Not TS quality by any stretch, but doable.

There used to be a thread about this on the station forums with 100+ replies but I can no longer find it.
Mic works with all other programs, in menu voice test works perfectly. Yet I cannot transmit or hear team mates.
Like I said, all of my settings are set up so it should work. I've had it work perfectly for hours with no changes to any of the settings.

My mic test / record-playback has never worked, but in game voice is fine.

It sounds horrific and hurts my ears. Recently it wasn't working for me. Try turning the volume up.

In-game voice is completely non-functional for me.
I can't hear anyone else, and nobody can hear me.

My Outfit members can usually hear me just fine, but we have had issues with one of them just not being able to get it working from time to time, either in the squad or outfit channels.
Proxy voice seems to be totally random. Most of the time I can't hear anything, the rest it's too quiet or garbled to understand. Except the dude in the tank with the ice cream truck jingle. I can hear that just fine. So I never bother using it even when I think it could be helpful to communicate with the people around me.

I went from a 3.5mm plug mic/headphone setup, which didnt work, to a usb mic/head phone setup... now it works. Go figure.

Turns out it was my router.

I tried playing at a friends house who has a different router and it worked perfectly.

It works when it wants for me, so I turned to TS side.
