Well I orderred a smokin new system and should be recieving it next week (athlon 2500+, 9700 pro etc). I did not order a new monitor however; I just planned on using my old 19-inch one which is about 3 years old. It works fine but I was just wonderring whether that monitor is going to hold me back in any ways as far as visual performance goes?

In image quality (unless it's busted-azz), no. However, a higher monitor refresh rate can be very easy on the eyes. If your monitor can do a sustained refresh rate of 75hz at 1024x768 (at 19" it should), then you're fine. Otherwise, get a new one.

Thanks, how do I check what my monitor can handle anyways? I'm a computer n00b. :confused:

Settings->Control panel->Display->settings tab->Advanced button->monitor tab->screen refresh rate.

Actually the type of monitor and the quality of the cable between the monitor and videocard can make quite a noticeable difference on the color clarity
