Just curious - has anyone ever bought a one time use camo? Seems overall pointless to me because I switch camos quite a bit.
So has anyone bought them and if so why?

I've bought a few.
It's okay for me, seeing as I liked the jungle camo for biolabs. However, unlimited is much better, as you can swap
However, once you purchase a certain single use camo, it no longer appears in the store.

I did accidentally a few days after release. I realized it almost right away and was sad.

Perhaps this was the intended way that Camo would be previewed, since there isn't a preview option in-game. (At least, I don't remember there being a preview option.)
Personally, I use this thread from Reddit when I want to preview a camo. Not sure if it's been updated since GU2.

Several reasons
Firstly, I bought them because I had that 170 SC that you get when you sign up for free realms and star wars
Secondly, can't afford anything else, and I'm not buying anymore SC until they put some of that old non-composite armour that they had before in all the previews (http://media-titanium.cursecdn.com/attachments/42/265/ps2_screens_heavyassaults.jpg)
And finally, because the permanent camo is overpriced as fuck
5 bucks? you can't tell me that's reasonable. armor, maybe, but not camo.
I'm not counting 2x, or 3x sales, since we don't even know when those happen, and I'm not exactly keen on waiting for months for them to happen

I did at first, just as a preview before I bought the real thing.

Yes I bought some - just to see what they look like like - then I bought the ones I liked again.
It was more cost efficient than buys eternal camo that I didnt like.
But its a rip rip off really.
There really should be a a way to trial them - maybe in virtual reality we be able to.
SIDE NOTE: Its not terrible expensive though if you only buy credits when they are on sale. Seriously if you are actually spending $5 on camo thats just sad.

I bought them, because I'm a cheapass and I mostly (almost entirely) play one class, so it was cost-effective. I had seen some pictures of a camo type that I knew looked nice, so I didn't need to trial anything. With a double SC day, I ended up paying $1.50 for pretty much all the camo I want. Definitely worth it.

As far as vehicle camo goes it'd be pretty cost-inefficient to buy permanent camo. 7 vehicles total x 50 = 350, less than the 500 you'd spend on permanent camo. If you really can't deal with changing vehicle loadouts on spawn and MUST have preset loadouts I guess you could make a case for it, though. Same with infantry armor camo, actually. If you use a wide selection of weapons, though, permanent will be better for sure. I personally bought TR Digital camo for my dual Mercies. Not sure if it's still the case but I got 2 uses, so I bought it once and was able to coat both arms.

I bought one once for my lightning on Matherson, the first day I played after beta. Still on it I would imagine. "No, no. That's not a tank in the snow. That's a bush with a fallen tree in it".

As a trial item, I consider them a total rip-off. They should be either a free 30 min preview item like weapons or a thing that can be used on one thing only but is permanent/can be swapped.
I can remember buying one (I actually wanted the full camo) and then losing it by accidentally swapping cosmetics.

I've bought around 5 if I remember correctly. One for my Vanguard, one for my Sunderer, one for my infiltrator, one for my sniper, and one for my Galaxy. I bought them because i had some chump change in SC that I felt like spending (I don't like having left over SC or in-game currency, it bugs me. I think it's an OCD thing...). And I also bought them because the only classes I use are mainly LA and Infiltrator. And the only vehicles I use are Vanguards, Sunderers, and Galaxies (and now Reavers, so I need some camo for that one xD).

I bought a one time purchase of Temperate forest for my HA, loadout #3. It's still on there. Luckily for me we've a loadout per cont so far.

They're actually all I buy. I like having different camos for all class and vehicle combinations. Single use is the only way I can get that without spending a ridiculous amount on them.

The only camo's ive bought have been single use. 1 giraffe for my main mag i use, 1 digital for my av mag.
Then a couple for my different scythe loadouts. Though the last one was just for the sake of buying, i had just enough SC for a camo;)

I bought one because I wanted a white mossy, only use one loadout (for the mostpart) and don't have any plans to change the camo again.
How do they work really? do they stay on until you change the camo to something else or are they permanent for one type of class/wehicle?
I thought they stayed on for one life until now, but from this thread it seems different :)

Not big into aesthetics so I use one-time use camos for most of my stuff. Works well.

Yes, to simply have some camo on my main class, and to see if I actually liked them before committing to a perma-one I could switch around as needed.

Since we fight on Indar 24/7, one camo does fine. I've used the same one-time use camo on my eng since release.

I have used them and the main thing was they where cheaper! I guess it would also be good for people that only use 1 main class of troop or vehicle =) It may seem like a waste but what i did when i was able to have the 3 quick setups for my favorite troop class and vehicle was i pick one for jungle, snow, desert.
So it works for me like this: tab1 is my jungle camo set up , and tab2 is my snow camo set up , and tab3 is my desert camo set up.
I still wish they would still lower the price a little more for the 1 use camo's thoe =)

I bought one because I had some spare SC.
The main problem about the unique camo is that it's not possible to make the loadout 2 or 3 as default. Now I have a turtle ninja camo by default on esamir and I need to change it everytime.
Hold on. Its called a "single use" cammo, but you can equip it, save it into a load out, remove it, equip some other cammo and still have access to re-equip it at a later time?
I purchased 3 infinite cammos for my vehicles, one for each cont.
Are you telling me I could have achieved the same effect by purchasing 3 single use cammos?

I thought the exact opposite. You can spend 10$ and buy 2 cammo to switch between or 20 different single use and just deal with color changes on different loadout choices. I wish I had the kind of money to not understand why people would buy individual camo.
This post feels like an ad to get people to watse 5$ on camo they might end up hating

I've bought a couple because they were only 25 SC (sale) vs. 500 SC... in general, I think all of the camo and aesthetic customizations are WAY over-priced and I refuse to participate in that part of the pricing model.
IMHO - for $20, I'd expect something like an expansion pack with a whole host of cool customizations from armors to camo and more...
Also - though I think a few of the vehicle camos are good.... I think the overall quality of the aesthetics offered is very poor.
I do love the game, however.

Only bought single use ones, was overall cheaper for me that way (especially since i got 2 of each for the price of one when i bought mine).
Also i'm not paying five bucks for a skin...

I have never bought a camo yet outside of a bundle deal because I think they are too expensive and they just look crappy on most Vanu-gear. You never get the camo on the helmet, composite armor doesn't work well with it half the time, vanu specific vehicle equipment stays purple even if every other purple part of the vehicle has been painted... I'm just not a fan.

Interesting responses thanks guys. I was just curious on my end as to why folks might buy them. For me having them forever makes more sense so I've never bought one time use camos.

I think it's quite silly that anyone would spend SC on a camo that is deleted upon removal. 50 SC isn't much, but the alternative is the 500 SC camos which IMO are overpriced. I think it would be beneficial to reduce the price by half and get rid of the single use camos which I believe in result will sell more.
Otherwise it's best to hold off for the SC sales and then purchase them. ..but then again this is probably why they're so overpriced in the first place.
Another thing which completely throws me off is the fact that they are taking this long to properly place a preview system for cosmetics while entirely relying on the consumer to base their purchase on a small preview icon (inaccurate at most) or more often the community it self by sacrificing their SC for the rest of the community. I would think that a company that creates a product where it relies cosmetic micro-transactions would tackle these issues faster, or better yet have it shipped with the product on release... I guess not. ( I am aware that it should be in GU3 ).

Seeing how nobody's answered this yet, no. The single use camo is destroyed as soon as you unequip it. This is rather frustrating with weapon camos, because your attachments are not saved when you switch weapons, so if you have a single use camo on your gun and switch it out for a different gun for that loadout, you'll lose the camo.
