Hacking is becoming a serious issue in planetside 2 and it is beginning to kill my fun. I consider myself to be a good player (I was the 2nd place auraxis tournament winner), but that doesn't really mean much anymore when 1 out of 10 players are running this:

I think we need to be more vocal as a community. The hackers are taking over and ruining the game. They are not the obvious kind; they hack just enough to make it unfair, but don't completely break the game.
I thought the days of lame counter-strike hackers were over?

Think this is bad, have you played Day Z?
This is one of the curses of Free to Play. Near infinite tries to make hacks and an almost just as unlimited supply of shitheads to pay for them. I do have to say that SOE is doing a hell of a job at fighting them. My advise is to get pissy and punch something when you get mad at hacks. If it gets to bad for ya then quit for the night or week and work on your gaming backlog.
I got 60+ games in my backlog just this console gen and the crap I got in steam sales. But there are so many things to do and the greatness of a few games keep making that list longer. I get pissed at hacks, but at the same time it's an excuse to freshen up the waters so to speak by dipping into other games.

Well, i don't know about Sardus... but this is the only game i want to play right now. I don't want to play the millions of games on steam that i have bought in past sales and never played.
I saw 2 hackers today playing NC on Briggs. One on TR and one on NC. They were both blatantly hacking. I never hackusate people, so i won't comment on these sneaky hackers or those that i simply find suspicious, however i can definitely say that i saw two blatant hackers over a few hours, both speed-hacking and flying/no-clipping. That to me is far too common.
Of course it could be suggested that for every blatant hacker you see, there are [insert arbitrary, non-researched statistic] more sneaky ESP and Aimbot hackers, who you don't see!

The problem is that the Pro7 EU GMs. And i know this as a fact have no tools to combat hackers.
This is what they must do. Currently.
Player [A] is Reported.
GM looks at this. Looks at PSU stats to see what server they are on.
GM makes a character on that server, And log on.
They have limited commands. Such as Invisibility or follow. Like spectate.
Now this is the shocking Part. GM Has to Record the player and upload it to a private youtube channel! Then that has to be passed over to SOE to ban that account...
This is why it takes ages for bans to take effect.
I am not sure how SOE GMs are set up but i presume its the same measures.
Its a Joke.
All GMs should have accounts specific for GM roles. And with evidence. And the Nod from a senior GM that person should be banned. I know SOE are working on these tools. But they should of had these set up from day 1.
1 GM told me. Its heart breaking following these hackers. And i cant do anything about it!
Also. SOE have some type of stat set up to auto ban people. Hense the mass bans recently and allot of legit players got banned. I heard it was tied to high kill streaks. But that's a rumour i heard.

Yep, this is the only game I've wanted to play since it was announced. FPS or otherwise. Hackers drive me up a fucking wall. We were promised that SOE had tools in place to unfuck this.
The only bright side I see is that I only come across about one blatantly cheating fuck a week or so.

What is the fun in doing that? No skills. I just do not see the point in it in any way, shape or fashion. I fucking hate cheaters!

He never did, he just tweeted some mean things to scare off the gullible ones. As a matter of fact the system right now does not work as intended because cheaters can run around for hours with many hundreds of tickets until they get banned. This has to stop, if somebody gains mass tickets in a short period of time it should not take more than 30 minutes until some GM makes the decision to ban or not to ban someone.
If there is a guy cheating on your server during a whole session of multiple hours despite having hundreds of tickets it's just very annoying and it's SOE's responsibility to prevent stuff like that.

There needs to be something hard-coded into the game to detect aimbots and the like. It simply takes way too long for a GM to find a hacker, and many of them still go unnoticed.
In my opinion this should be priority #1 for SOE. Hacking will kill this game. And its only getting worse, every night.

Here is the real problem.
Users think that there is someway to stop hackers before it happens. This will never be the case. Ever.

Aye, so far the best we can hope for is the devs being able to limit the amount of hackers.

Its all about management.
10 hackers in a population of 2000 is a good ratio. The frequency of those 10 users using hacks does not an epidemic make. Its still just 10.

Especially the ones with the no recoil aimbot. Man I love blowing those people up with claymores, because they are too stupid to win without their hacks. Of course it's only a matter of time before the hackers figure out how to blow those up safely without having to, god forbid, think about it.
It gets pretty tiring to defend a base with claymore alone, because the attackers have perfect aim from across the base and 1/8th of a second TTK, with NC weapons, every encounter... Though it is pretty funny that they're hacks can't compensate for their epic amounts of stupidity and lack of awareness. Lol...

Maybe its because i'm playing at off prime time for the most part but are people really seeing that many hackers? And is it to a game breaking extent?
I have seen a few that I thought were pretty sketchy but I couldn't chalk it up to skill. I still have yet to run into game breaking types like I have in most other games. Especially PS1 had a few hacks that 1 hacker really could shut down the fight for 100's.
All of the /Yell hackusations i've seen in game I trust almost none of them... especially some outfit wide hackusations that from what I an tell is basically a group of good players using *gasp* organization and teamwork that multiplies their effectiveness.
Although there is an outfit i've fought against some that it is hard to not think hacks because they are known to have members who are known to troll games with hacks just for the troll of it.

No, they see one and call it rampant because that one did it to them 5 times. Clearly, there are five of them.

It's especially hard for us players because we have no idea how many people are being banned and for how long. I wish they would publicize it a bit more.

It's also hard when there are so many ignorant people playing the game.
I was referred to in /yell tonight as a "wall hacker" for shooting the Engineer AV turret through the spawn room shield at Snake Ravine at the 40 or so Magriders circling the spawn. Mmmhmm, because shooting out of the spawn room shields isn't possible... *sigh*
This game is full of stupid, rude, annoying, and ignorant people. Yup, it's an online game.

The blatant hackers... the ones who are obvious (wall-hackers, aimbots, etc) are just basically FPS trolls. The equivalent of forum trolls, only out to get attention and ruin other peoples fun. They don't like their life... so they want to make sure everyone else isn't having fun either. They enjoy getting other people upset.
Then there are the actual cheaters, who are more subtle about it. They are using it as a competitive advantage. Sort of like steroid users in baseball. Good players who want to be great, but are lazy or unable to be as good as they want to be. Or want to be seen as being. Can be an ego thing, want to be considered great... when in fact they aren't.
There needs to be something hard-coded into the game to detect aimbots and the like. It simply takes way too long for a GM to find a hacker, and many of them still go unnoticed.
Heh, if it was actually this easy... it would have been done by now. With every programming solution, there is a higher and higher likelihood of false positives. Not to mention that a good portion of the game is running on a machine SOE (or any game producer) doesn't have access to... (your computer).
You also have to consider the number of actual bugs/lag/synchronization issues that cause players to think someone is hacking when they are not. I've sniped a player that was sitting in a road (his legs were ACTUALLY IN the road)... was he actually there? probably not... maybe he was two bases over and just got sniped out of nowhere from his perspective.
Also, the hackers have more man-power than the devs. People willing to put their talent into creating a hack... and possibly selling it.
The best thing they can do is be extremely vigilant on the obvious hackers... and be very vocal while smacking them with the ban-hammer... and try to limit the not-so-obvious ones at the same time.
Maybe its because i'm playing at off prime time for the most part but are people really seeing that many hackers? And is it to a game breaking extent?
Sometimes. Last weekend we had an epic TI alloys fight going on. VS was inside, holding the buildings and cap point, while both NC and TR were trying to break in. We held that fight for about 45 minutes... going back and forth losing and regaining the cap point.
Then an obvious hacker came along. Every VS defender at the cap point died in 3 shots to an invisible player... 6-7 shots to kill me as a max even. Kept wiping all our defenders out single-handedly... suddenly... our cap point was lost and the base was lost shortly thereafter.
It ruined my memories of that day and made me leave feeling angry. Incidents like this are more memorable than the 3-4 hours of non-hacking play before it... therefore... all it took was 10 minutes of an asshole to break up a great infantry fight. You know why I was pissed... I was having a great time, and only had a few hours to play that day... so by effectively ending the fun... I now had to waste my time regrouping and finding a new good fight... by which time I had to leave. That was a day-breaking moment for me. Add those up over weeks, months, and it can become game-breaking.
