View Full Version : The Lightning is horribly imbalanced, please fix ASAP

Seriously, those things tend to roll when going down anything other than a 10° slope. And not to mention that they have absolutely NO traction. They're somewhat alright on flat ground but it doesn't seem like they were made to be a flanking tank.
Now, I only rolled over in a lightning once, and that was when a Sundy pushed me off the road going down to the crash site, but I don't think that a low, supposedly maneuverable tank should have rolled over because of that. And I see Lightnings rolling over all the time...

Your crying about how easy it is to roll a lighting. Yet you have only rolled it once because a sundy pushed you off a cliff?

You make no sense...

Seems more like you're having an issue with the physics in the game.

It's a low tank that's supposed to be used for flanking, it makes no sense for it to roll while going sideways on a 30° slope like that one (one of the lower tier slopes next to the crash site)...

And people complain about getting farmed as infantry, maybe that's because the only thing a bad lightning player (like myself) can do is rush forward, unload shells and kill them while they're clumped up.

Also, thread title was supposed to make people think that I think they're OP, so they'd actually read the post, not to make it seem like I'm crying =P

People will read the post anyway, no need to actively go out of your way to try and mislead.

I do see quite a few Lightnings upside down with their turrets embedded in the ground these days, so this does seem to be a bit of an issue. Still, don't Sundies explode when you roll them on their side? So it could be worse I guess ;)

As for traction on hills, I'd definitely like to see that improved (though for all tanks really) and I also think there's a problem with Lightnings getting stuck in dips really easily, when their track-guards prevent the tracks actually making contact with the ground at certain angles.

TBH I'd say the Lightning just generally needs some love - especially after the Prowler and the Vanny were both buffed (both of which are also usable as 1-man tanks FFS). Making it more stable and better on rough terrain would be a nice change, and seems an easy win from a balance PoV.

I fail to see how this is an "imbalanced" issue, rather than a general physics and control issue.

He wrote that just to make us read his post:/

Exactly my thoughts. Pointless thread is pointless.

Actually they don't... I fell down a cliff on Amerish one day and got flipped on my side and stuck between the cliff and a building... xD I got a screenshot, but it's not on this computer... :( When I got out, I fell through the map and died

They still do, though less: you have to be upside down now before it explodes. Before they exploded sideways.

This was also back in November-December time frame :P

Sundys do occasionally blow up when upside down, and so do Lightnings. I've seen Lightnings just abandoned and not blow up when they're upside down though.

It'd be nice if there was some way of rescuing vehicles that've got stuck upside down or are jammed into the terrain in a way they can never get out of.

Maybe some kind of limited 'reconstruct/relocate' option in the vehicle option panel that deconstructs the vehicle and recreates it next to where you're standing (now the right way up), so long as you're within a certain distance of its current position?

So long as there's a timer on it, and/or it takes a little time to use I don't think it would be exploitable.

Failing that, a slow (i.e. not usable in combat) option to deconstruct that refunds you (some?) resources and sets your timer to zero would be nice, for those annoying times when your shiny new vehicle gets stuck somewhere.
