Is it just me, or does the "Lancer" fire like a chargeable Vanu default? Was hoping for something more Saron-like.

Wasn't this the stuff that was supposed to show up in a patch last week?

Also, the new rocket launchers are a bit underwhelming, at least compared to what I was expecting. The VS fire animation looks the same as the old ones. The TR one is cool, but I thought all the rockets would fire at once and "swarm" to the target. The NC one looks cool, but why is it firing a ball of "plasma" or whatever that is? Balls of plasma are for the VS. Shouldn't the NC one fire a big self-propelled missile or something?

I already get insta killed by rockets if I get hit directly even with lvl 4 flak Armor.

Im hoping the NC Phoenix isn't insta kill....Is seriously going to ruin the game even more, I can just imagine people hiding guiding the rockets like in Planetside 1 hitting infantry.

But in Planetside 1, their wasn't insta kill like in Planetside 2.

Only thing im a lil disappointed in is that the wraith has a short cloak on it. Doesnt seem that useful if you can only use it part of the time. I know Lurperza said something about the Lancer having a lazer effect so maybe they just didnt get it in in time for the video.

right now though, we dont know how tight the turning and control the player will have on the rocket.

well i hope they keep the requirement to keep a lock for the striker looking at its fire rate anything less will make entire areas a no go for vehicles and air. Allow dumb fire too but reduce the fire rate for dumb fire.

The speed of the pheonix projectile and what seemed slow turn rate should keep it pretty much balanced. After all you have to take first target time, flight time and reload time into account makeing the dps pretty low. Essentially this is a less accurate lockon (but you steer it) with the advantage of cover. People moan that it will instagib infantry... so will the other, the vs get a sniper and the tr get a spammer.

Lancer, i'm not sure on this depends on the charge up time and level of damage the top tier gives else once again vehicle and aircraft wont be able to approach any VS base. Essentially this is a sniper AV weapon much like the original was with little or no flight time for the hit.

Oh boy, those launchers look quite powerful!

Better make MBTs multi-crew now and buff their armour to avoid the future buff/nerf pendulum swing!

Eh? Eh?

Oh who am I kidding...

Before everyone goes haywire over the NC getting what will probably 1-shot infantry but she said it's a single shot weapon. TR and VS will probably not require their entire ammo supply to kill a single target. It's incredibly useful for defending bases, it will be used best in groups that can resupply quickly but you wouldn't want to waste a rocket on some infantry when you can score a vehicle or MAX kill. Also it doesn't look very fast, especially compared to what the TR get. Lancer looks like it packs a mean punch if you can be far enough away to not be spotted during the charge. I'm not looking forward to hitting a swarm of any of them.

Give me my Phoenix! :D

What made me wonder was the whole "We're playing with the idea about players requiring constant lock on while the rockets travel to the target". Paraphrasing here. But do not even consider releasing that thing as a fire-and-forget weapon.

The amount of rage the phoenix will cause is going to be huge lol, assuming it will one hit infantry.

The video claims that it's a "One shot heavy payload weapon". I don't think it's going to have an ammo count much like a real world Javelin. One time use unless you have a teammates dropping ammo.

If it is a one shot deal then it, in theory, might be the worst in DPS if the rocket isn't more powerful than anything else. Only time will tell, and we're still waiting on GU4. Who knows how long till we get hands on these things.

(after re-watching video)
The damn thing shows 75 rockets then 98! If that isn't a dev build giving unlimited ammo then I call bullshit. Even if Im NC, I will never agree to that ammo count being fair.

Yea I'd agree the Strike shouldn't be fire and forget and I'm also disappointed that the wraith doesn't cloak for longer.

I think the Phoenix is suppose to have more limited maneuverability compared to the very agile rockets in PS1.

Dont forget that the lancer may be able to snipe infantry when fully charged. I think the damage for all would be less then dumb fire rockets or you could never rationalize them as side grades.

So as per Higbys explanation on Game Updates, Patches and Hotfixes, (http://wiki.planetside-universe.com/ps/Patches) and the fact we have not seen February's Roadmap yet and we are in for a massive amount of updates in the next two weeks spanning 14th March to 28th March.

The items below are expected to be released in a few days, after already being delayed by 2 weeks, on about the 14th March via GU04 and a Patch a week later about the 21st March:

Flash update
Account level unlocks
VR Training
New respawn & map screen
Membership enhancements
Empire specific Rocket Launchers
Various balance changes.

You can probably work out what will come in each after reading Higbys explanation.

Then we can expect some of these items from the March Roadmap at the end of the month GU05 due around the 28th March (2 week cadence as explained) as well.

Continent Locking
Convenience Items
Improved Map and Respawn
Player Generated Missions
Implants
Class Revamp: MAX
Color Blind Support
Ragdoll Physics
MAX Flamethrowers
Cert Screen Revamp
Tutorial

I'm looking forward to it after the two week delay we've waited through!
There are some fantastic changes coming in the next fortnight and I'm looking forward to the VR and Tutorial to help boost the population.

Kind of disappointed with the Lancer... model/projectile are barely different at all, was hoping for my laser sniper from PS1. It looks like a fairly slow shot. The Striker and Phoenix look great.

Edit: I might have misspoke about the projectile, I wasn't sure whether or not she meant the projectile we saw in the video was the 'laser' projectile. Other than that, I do wish it had more than one shot and it had a unique model.

I am mostly disaponted in the wraith that has a cloak simular to current suit cloak, so they gave it just as usless as cloak.

Like come on a ATV that can charge on the fly can keep this going on far in the future?
I could see them maybe doing this while Ide and not moving, but still..... ?

How much they hate cloakers though, can see this draining your suit cloak as well lol.

The short timer on the Wraith cloak is extremely disappointing.

lol awesome, but i would have liked a look into the VR training, by far the biggest of them all :D

and i can't believe that the cloak for the flash comes STANDARD FOR INFILTRATORS :O

Horribly disappointed by the lancers projectile. Couldn't agree more it looks EXACTLY the same as the other weapons.

I don't care how unique the weapon itself looks if the projectile looks the same it loses all its personality. Not to mention its unfair to the NC and TR that they could not distinguish Lancer fire from other launchers. It needs to be more of a beam like in PS1 or like the Saron as others have mentioned.

The striker looks dumb I hoped it would fire all the rockets at one time in a swarm.

NC weapon looks good though, but if it one shots infantry then wow.

I do think they did a great job on making them look different and unique. The NC got the shaft though the Phoenix looks very similar to their other launchers.

On a different note. The rumble seat on the flash looks like the coolest thing they have put in the game yet!
Next lets get a true battle Sunderer that can forego AMS or gate diffuser for a cert that adds windows for players inside to shoot out from!!

Well, I haven't played PS1, so the Striker design came as a surprise to me (magazine fed? Waaht?) I literally expected it to be a swarm of rockets all fired at once. However, this doesn't make Striker bad - it looks fresh compared to the pretty standard launchers we have in the game now and I'm sure PS1 veterans will love it.

Also kinda disappointed with the lancer. The projectile looks like all Vanu AV/AA weapons and also I don't know if it will be that usefull as the projectile seems to be rather slow.
Still, we have to see how it pays out but currently it doesn't look like it warrants a day1 purchase (if you already have other AV/AA options)

The other empire specific launchers look good though. Also I would not say that PS2 needed more lock on launchers.

The wraith cloak, well, I doubt it will be that usefull. The current inf cloak already isn't all that usefull for infiltration. Wraith does not seem to "buff" that. More like it will allow snipers more easily to get into sniping positions.

But again, it's hard to judge from the video alone. You cannot get a really good impression from the videos as the cuts dont alow to judge rocket launcher projectile speed and the wraith part does not show the hud.

I'm also disappointed that the wraith doesn't cloak for longer.

I'm not, the Jihadi use of c4 on Flashes would get out of control if you could safely just run around in a wraith with a long cloak time, I'm sure they'll have enough cloak time to get you into spots without being seen, also they will most likely have certs to extend it's use.

I'm also still a tad trepidatious over the return of the ESAV, the PS1 vet in me is cheering, the rational maturer FPS gamer can see it's flaws but hopes for the best.

so did no one listen to her when she said it would shoot lasers?

lol jesus guys

"Just a reminder you can now fire while cloaked".

Umm what?! That better only apply to the Flash. Seriously the buffs to Infiltrator need to stop. It's more than effective when used correctly it seems like they are trying to make it a noob easy mode class. Can't play the game well? Then just run around invisible, gunning people down with your SMG. Even if firing decloaks you it's still easy mode with a weapon that can kill near instantly.

As for the new Rocket Launchers. The Striker better be a laser guided weapon. I will be so pissed if TR is the only Empire that is still hard countered by IR smoke while the others get a freaking camera guided missile, and a Sniper rifle rocket. Both of which are going to rape Infantry, and cause a huge **** storm on the forums lol.

"Just a reminder you cannot fire while cloaked."

Fixed that for you.

Oh, and buffs to the Infiltrator? You're gotta be kidding. The only change to the Infiltrator was the SMG which EVERYONE can use. Why is nobody complaining about Medic that can heal himself while using SMG? Or LA that flies around, jumps on people and kill them with SMG? Or HA that activates his shield, giving him double the effective HP, can use rocket launchers and kill you with his SMG? Or Engineer that has practically unlimited ammo for his SMG which he uses to kill you?

Thats only because you currently cannot see them with NV scopes. Which will change (at least as far as I heard) and everything will be back to normal. No place to hide.

i especially like the passenger seat !

finally a seat where you can sit down but still use your own weapons! i asked for such a thing a long time ago ;)

now give us an aircraft with 2 or even 4 max-ports that work the same way!
the maxes sould cling under the wings (much like the headhunters in the riddick movie) and use their own weapons. the downside would be, that the exposed max position would give no protection to the max, so the original max hitbox applies, like with the atv or mana turret.

but i am very disappointed about the temporary cloak. is there any chance that the cloaks (also personal cloak) in the game will be fixed and we get back the sneaking-gameplay we enjoyed so much in ps1? this short-time cloaking is useless and sucks. the ps1 cloakers tactical approach with small arms and hacking or CE laying was perfect! but ps2 only has castrated cloakers and engineers. i hope this will be adressed soon.

I think it will be ok and and people or getting scared too soon + these weapons can be fixed easly by twiking there amout of damage and how fast they fire. That is if they will even need it? I am happy that they brought them back and or trying to make them unique for each faction.
Cloakers being able to cloake some vehicles is nothing new it was like that befor! =) I am NOT worried about it: PS2 stealth is not 100% and my eyes or more trained on movement *Wink* so i will be killing them like always. =)
I am most excited about the 2 seater flash = this has alot of potential seeing that the rider can use most of there own weapons. Something you could never do befor in PS , not even when rideing in a buggy. I hope you can also upgrade your armor with this because most tanks can kill a flash with 1 kill.

I thought they were revamping the loadout screen. I hope it makes it in this patch. Right now the map/loadout is really cumbersome and limiting. Could use a lot of logical upgrades.

March preview.. ok where's my Feb update? I'll take improved item preview over squad drag drop firstly...is this 6 month plan gonna be a 10th month plan. Perhaps you should have called it just the roadmap without individual months. Just a large list of things to work on.

The Lancer looks like shit. Hate to be so blunt, but what a stupid design. May as well have just added "charge up" to the default launcher. There is nothing "Lance" about a ball of energy. I know she said it would "shoot lazors", but then it will just look like a "rocket launcher" shooting lazors. One shot and reload? Regardless of how much you charged? Why even have a charge up mechanic at that point?

And where is my giant box of energy bolts? Same silly ass battery orb? So much for unique.

I hate it when people use terms like "re-imagine", when in actuality they made a complete different product and slapped an old name on it.

In fact, all of the new launchers look too... cartoony? All bulbous and such. Striker looks like a poster tube... Ridiculous

Really disappointed.

From certain angles, I can see where you are coming from with the Striker. But it still does look cool to me at least. The lancer, I love that design and I have faith the Dev team will make the projectile look right. (Im also guessing they did the voice over recently while the footage was put together a while back.) The phoniex looks just like any other NC weapon should look...like they got it out of a trash can  All kidding aside, it does look very NCish so props to the weapons team and art team on this. Im sure they are working extremely hard on these rocket launchers and I cant wait to try one In game.
