View Full Version : Wraith-Like Cert for ESF's

So I was looking at a wraith cert thread up here and suddenly it hit me: Well, why don't they have this for ESF's? I know they have the Stealth cert, but that's only for lock-ons. In mordern days, The F-22 Raptor doesn't show up on radar until it's too late. So what's stopping the people in the future to adding the cloaking to their ESF's? It makes perfect sense, but to prevent it from being too "O.P." in the game, have the secondary weapon removed (such as Breaker Rocket Pods on the Reaver). To me, this makes perfect sense to do. Are they already working on this? Have they thought about this? Tell me your thoughts fellow auraxians! :D

My first thought is... You've never experienced the Phantasm 1.0 with 12mm pilot controlled gun.

And that was a sluggish transport aircraft.

Just for the record, before the gun was stripped from the Phantasm, it became an ultimate predator on infantry, where the four transport seats wern't used, but the pilot would go out and whore unsuspecting infantry in the field who had no chance of doing anything about it.

How the cloaked troop insertion aircraft was used (after the gun had been stripped). >.>

1. Basically as a tool for groups or individuals to gank other individuals (and vehicles like BFRs in particular) from behind.
2. As an insertion aircraft as it was meant (competing with Sunderer, Deliverer variants and Galaxy for transport job)
3. Dropping snipers in good positions.
4. Well, I used it to topple over landed Galaxies and general scouting and clearing some mines before getting into a base without using up any EMPs and bypassing any ground defenses. :p

Now think of how a fighter with stealth capacity and both A2A, bailing and A2G capacity would be used.

In short, "OH, HELL NO!" Secondary weapon removed, or not... Silly OP idea.

Yep would be seriously broken. You get enough complaint about Rocket Pods as it is. Even if the Wraith module for ESF took up the secondary weapon slot it would probably still be too good. But hey if SOE thinks they can sell it for 700 SC wouldn't be surprised if it gets added someday.

This would be a terrible idea.

The only reason it was ok for the old Wraith was that the old Wrath was a horrible weapon itself.

Im expecting a lot of whining about the new Wraith being used as a weapon.

Oh the rage.

Just say no to cloaked ESF's, also please stop referring to modern day real life tech. Just because it sounds cool does not make it fun gameplay remember there are 3 sides to consider not just yourself.

Not true! You could ram people what, 25 times to kill them (if you repaired in between :p) OR you could keep driving into vehicles till they would be launched across the universe!

No thank you. I wouldn't want to be flying my Mossie to suddenly have Klingon ships decloak around me. Wouldn't even have time to yell "Arm photon torpedoes!"

It's worse than that, it's physics Jim.

I would like a wraith function on the galaxy. It wiuld supplant all of the weapons and half the available seats. But you would be able to sneak in a half squad onto a generator or directly behind enemy lines for some hit and run tactics.

Wow so much rage all of a sudden o.o well it's not like you could use your weapons while cloaked or be completely invisible while moving. It'd be just like the infil on low settings when you're moving. you can see it as a white ghost, but easily seen. So really, it would only be good for moving extremely slowly or for nanite repair ease. There's TONS of ways to get to NOT be O.P. and to be playable AND likeable for that matter... Hell, if anything, add special stuff to each ESF. Like for the scythe, the wraith ability at 1.5-2k certs. Mossie, majorly upgraded afterburners that allow for 1-2k km/h travel speed at 1.5-2k certs cost. Reaver, sort-of like a 5 second rocket barrage maybe with unlimited rocket ammo during that barage at a 1.5-2k cert cost? and NOT have these abilities available for SC purchase.

While this would be boss, I don't think we will ever see it. Would be a bit to OP.
