I really like the new map/deployment screen, but one thing still annoys me: FRIGGING TINY LOADOUT SELECTION PULLDOWN MENUS!
I mean C'MON, i was able to switch my loadout with only keys allready back in counterstrike (not to mention the very nice system of planetside 1), wtf is up with this excel spreadsheet shit?
Here is how a visit to any terminal should play out:
"USE"
"Key for Class" (numerical or letter based)
"Key for Loadout" (numerical based)
And not: Fiddle with tiny pulldown menus where you can hardly read the text just to be stabbed in the back. FIX DAT!

Yeah, that'd be nice. 3,1 and I've got my Medic loadout. Simple as pie (or whatever)
You know what else would be nice? a little key combo like 'm' for map and 'g' for galaxy map.

Didn't they mention adding this exact thing in the past? It's been a while since they did say something about it though.

 I still hit "g" all the time on the map screen without even thinking about it expecting the global view to come up.

I support this and I think the devs would too. They've added a shortcut key for 'redeploy'.

i can read it, but yes it needs to be a bloody list/whatever you guys mentioned, not a drop-down list box thingy.
just one click and that's it, not 2+ accidently clicking on the wrong one+ clicking on the right one = 5 clicks.
it isn't that hard to implement at all.

Hotkeys would be really nice. I don't see a downside to them.
You won't be able to hotkey everything, but being able to hotkey your class and pre-set loadout would be very nice.

+1 on the drop down menu stuff... now that i've played with it a bit. It bothered me some right away but is getting more annoying every time I deal with them.
Also with the load out hot keys?
The original Tribes had pull down menus and did end up adding hot keys. Some of the most popular player made mods added the ability to customize tons of loadouts and a variety of hotkeys. Why is it that things like this slowly disappear as each new generation of games comes around when it is something that is both SO useful AND so universally wanted in a game like this?

Yes drop down menus get really old fast. I think if we can have more custom loadouts to save, it would not be as bad.

I was thinking about this too the other day, its way to fiddly at the moment to change between loadouts at the terminal and on the respawn screen.

Agreed. Down with pulldown menus!
The pulldowns on the cont map need to go too. The pre-GU4 cont map was superior, IMO. most of the info available was right there on the screen without having to dig thru pulldown menus and tabs like you do now.

They had shortcut loadouts in PS1.
ANOTHER THING FROM PS1 THAT NEEDS ADDING TO PS2.

I am really disliking the dropdown menu at the top of the map screen. I keep opening up my map expecting the continent icons to be there, then I'm like, "wtf? Whered it go?"
