I already spent like 100+ euros on weapons and implants in 3 months for PS2. It is fine because in exchange I stopped buying other games because PS2 takes all my time dedicated for gaming that is about 10 hours a week.

I enjoy the game but cannot stop thinking that I need to spend even more for SMG and upcoming faction specific launchers, new vehicle weapons etc. That makes me a bit sad but there are no other games that can replace PS2 for me.

Share your experience :)

PS: That is the first game where I spent more then 100 Euros. Especially when it called free to play game :)

I've spend around 100 euros. The last thing I bought was membership. One day before gu4. Now I have played like 2-3 hours after that, since there were the fps problems and lag problems and I still have problems, so I can't play the game. It would've been money spend well otherwise though.

Meh, I'm all in. But then I'm recently single... have disposable income and time to devote to the game. Been playing PS2 since Tech test, exclusively (no other computer game to compete for time or money)

Alpha squad
6th month sub
5 Walmart cards (2000 SC, redeemed on 3xSC days)

Not counting the upgrades done to my gaming rig in order to get the performance I want (not need, --> want). Other than the recent 2XP weekend's lag and fps hit, I've had a pretty good experience as far as performance goes (definitely playable at all times)

However, If I added it all up, it would probably surprise me how much I've actually spent on this one game.

My best friend bought me $100 worth of SC for Christmas during the triple SC holiday back in December (Meaning I had $300 on top of the $40 that I had already put down and sub). Since there's not a whole lot that I want from the store (waiting for the sci fi helmet and Lancer), I'm just now breaking my first $100 lol.

I'm in the same boat as you, between this and League Of Legends, there's no other games that I want to buy since I've been having so much fun. I'm actually saving up for a 600 series Nvidia card! :groovy:

I bought 60 in 10 dollar SOE cards that gave 1200 sc. Redeemed on the 3x sc day in dec. I also have the 3 month premium rate which is a little under 15 a month. I am almost out of sc but I have 5000 sc from my Gtx 670 purchase (which was strongly influenced by ps2) and I am hoping for another sc multiplier day.

I too love the game and don't mind spending on it. Hasn't been many games that have held my interest lately. So happy to pay for the one that does.

I bought the $40 Alpha Squad bundle, put about 40$ in during Double Station Cash, another $20 normally. When Triple SC day rolled around i threw $100 at Planetside, plus a 6 month membership for 70$. TAKE MY MONEY SOE.

True, you could grind for weeks and weeks instead, doing unfun things b/c they're the only tasks that give enough XP to eventually cover the full Cert price PLUS the upgrades needed for the items you already unlocked directly with cash.... or you could play WITH the weapons you really wanted to use all along, instantly....

...almost like all Offline and Buy-to-Play games used to let us do back in that magical age when you got what you payed for the first time and didn't have to keep risking your CC security everytime a new piece of "D/L content" came down the piecemeal pipe

See, what I'm saying is you're looking at this from the wrong angle.... you're approaching it from the traditional "Have Not" mentality which I myself am also of where we're used to getting whatever we want for Free with the common downside of it sometimes taking us longer to procure that thing than it would for some Upper middle class yuppie to spend at his laaadeedaww 60k a year job. Instead you gotta look at it from the traditional impulsive consumer's end instead. Marketing has convinced them through brilliant campaign of subterfuge that they're now getting unprecedented "convenience" through this new payment model even though all their buying impulses are really just driven by subconscious actualization of completionist motivation. ...to own all those pieces of content that used to come standard.

Imagine how much more money the Auto industry would be making if they could do this?? ...I think the only thing stopping them is a bunch of stupid Washington Red Tape though.... *rolls eyes* Unfortunately they're not allowed to sell a car that you have to unlock RearView mirors, antilock brakes, and Seatbelts for later on... Pfft. Pussies.

I reckon I've spent about 120 quid.

Has it been worth it? Probably. I won't spend any more though.

I reckon I spent about 800-850 on PS1, was it worth it excluding many rigs over the years that I justified to myself because of ps1? Absolutely.

I've spent a grand total of £20 so far, and I still have over 2000 SC left.

Only things that I have spent SC on so far:

Left arm Burster - essential for AA duty as the need arises.
Left arm Falcon - best thing I have spent SC on so far; MAX with dual Falcons is great fun - my favourite and most used loadout.
LA80 sniper rifle - actually not really necessary as the default Bolt Driver is so good. The one thing that I needn't have spent money on, although I will switch to it once I get my Auraxium medal for the Bolt Driver (very close now).
SMG for infiltrator (can't remember which one) - very useful for "cloak and dagger" work.
AV MANA turret - a "must have" for sniping those pesky Prowlers.

My want list (not really essential):

Gun that can take the underbarrel GL - for light assault to finish off Sunderers after 2xC4.
Gun for Flash - not sure which one yet, and not really necessary; just for a bit of fun with a cloaked Flash.

But that's it. Not interested in cosmetics or every possible variation of gun; the default NC guns are pretty decent. May get some more SC when (if) they run another triple promotion, otherwise I'll sit tight and spend wisely.

Gun for Flash - not sure which one yet, and not really necessary; just for a bit of fun with a cloaked Flash.

I got the automatic gun for flash that works similar to engy turret and I must say I really like it.

1. It is much more accurate then Engy turret. I think I can easily kill people from 100 meters.
2. It is powerful, when there is a choice to kill with a hand gun or with a flush gun I always choose flash gun.

Downsides? While shooting from flash you are easy target for snipers and HA with rocket launchers. This is the way I usually die while on flash:

1. Stop flash
2. Kill 3-4 enemies with flash automatic gun
3. Be killed by Sniper or Rocket
4. Deploy another flash
5. Go to 1

Pure fun

Considering the F2P model I prefer it in many ways because I have the choice to spend what I want when I want without commiting $60 up front to the prospect of a game I might enjoy and living with the short comings because I already put my $ down.

I like choice and tossing $20 at the game here and there as I wish is no big deal, you can piss $20 away so easily now a days trying to entertain yourself, speding it on video games is still the cheapest form of entertainment per hour outside of free.

Movie theater with popcorn and a drink: $14 / 2 hrs = $7 an hour

Getting High: $30 for an 8th of medium grade weed and $10 for munchies: $40 for 4 Hours = $10 / 4 hrs

Clubbing (Pricing for Men and Ugly Chicks): Drinks, Gas, Smokes, Condoms, Taco Bell 2AM: $50 (minimum if your doing it right) $50 / 6 hrs $8.33 an hour

PlanetSide 2 $100 investment for 91 hours played: $1.10 an hour

Calisai

PlanetSide 2 $100 investment for 91 hours played: $1.10 an hour

This is the key for me. To do anything nowadays is expensive. The true cost of PS2 for me is quite low when you think in terms of $/hour. I can easily justify the 6-month premium (~$12 per month) when you consider the amount of hours I put into the game for the month (374 play hours since release, avg of 93.5 hours per month)... that's 12.8 cents per hour.

Alpha squad is equally small of a per hour use since it was extended another 6 months.... same with the heroic boosts.

Even the cost of all my upgrades to my gaming rig comes out pretty cheap when you consider it in the per hour mindset.

The more hours of enjoyment you get out of the game, the less the cost is.

This is a personal experience kind of thing, but I knew that this was going to be the only game I'd be playing... and even with all the shortcomings of the game, i'm still getting enjoyment out of playing it... therefore getting my money's worth.

To the lot of you saying you're holding out for another triple SC day, I wouldn't hold your breath, I'm pretty positive that was a Christmas event type deal, and SOE going crazy to hype up PS2 :P

Clubbing (Pricing for Men and Ugly Chicks): Drinks, Gas, Smokes, Condoms, Taco Bell 2AM: $50 (minimum if your doing it right) $50 / 6 hrs $8.33 an hourr

A bit off topic but you should definitely pregame before entering the club ($5-7 bottle of liquor lasts the entire night, and it's gone (depending on your tolerance) by the time to need to drive home.

Also you're a brave man for having Taco Bell anyone remotely close to drinking within the same few hours. :P

I'm around 100 euro now, all spend on triple SC and 6 month premium which I got after they buffed it.
I still consider this good value considering the amount of time I've put into the game. The euro per hour I'm paying for PS2 is lower than any game I've played so far, excluding the really free ones.
