* New in DesertCombat .3

.3 Public New Features

DesertCombat now has 6 new classes to choose from,

Sniper
Assault
Heavy Gunner
Anti Armor
Support
Spec Ops

These new classes have a wide range of new abilities, including the ability to create mortars anywhere on the battlefield for any soldier to use or create sandbag walls to hide behind in the middle of a battle.

.3 Public New Maps

DesertComabt .3 comes with a few new maps, One of which is DCs own DC Battle of 73 Eastings, an intense tank battle map. More maps are coming soon. In the meantime, we have mad over 5 new maps from the exisiting BattleField 1942 maps, These variations are called Day 2 Day 3. Day 2 means = less airpower, Day 3 = land war only. This allows players who want to play without to much airpower in the air.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy DesertCombat .3, see you on the battlefield.

Well, I think it could be much worse than selling out to fileplanet. According to CNN, the team is discussing selling this as an expansion pack:

http://money.cnn.com/2003/03/25/commentary/game_over/column_gaming/index.htm

"Desert Combat" is still a work in progress, but more than 250,000 people have already downloaded it. And traffic to the game's official site has increased by roughly 15,000 page views per day since the beginning of the war.

While it currently focuses exclusively on the 1991 Gulf War, team leader Frank DeLise said the game will eventually include missions from Somalia, Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Players can choose to fight for either the U.S. led coalition or the Iraqi side. (Ironically, players from Germany, which opposes the U.S. action, often tend to play as Iraqi soldiers.)

A new version of "Desert Combat" will be released next week and will include new weapons for both sides (including scud missiles and A-10 attack planes) and a mission to find and destroy (or, if you're the Iraqis, defend) a chemical weapons plant.

"Desert Combat", which was overwhelmingly voted last year's most popular mod, is a free download for now, though that might change with future versions.

"We've been approached by multiple publishers to try and sell it," said DeLise, "so it's probably not going to be a mod for long. It'll be more of an expansion pack."

Yep, I can see EA buying this and selling it as an expansion, maybe it'll actually be good then.

Iraq also has the T72, which seems to own the M1A1s. And they spawn about 5 of them on every map, where as the US receives about 1 M1A1 and 3 M2A3s.

yeah, and the dev team will take down the post, as they entered an exclusivity contract with fileplanet

Civilian

Nah, it will take them forever to take it down. Hell, they didn't even bother to take down the post about the leaked .3 beta until it got to 6+ pages.
