There's shitloads of potential here, if you can't see it then I apologize. We got some really good stuff out of our very first attempt and I think people enjoyed watching it.

It would pretty much have to be a weekend day (Central time US to make it work, since I work during the weekdays. :D

I take it that you need an admin account to have the observer cam. From your video on the ESAVs I noticed you had a crap ton of SC and crerts with that cam and when going to live gameplay those numbers dropped to normal amounts.

Did you get access to that from running PSU and knowing the devs or is there deal with the devil kind of thing? Either way it would nice to see more of these type of videos. It gets hard to see a battle past the fight.

We [H4TZ] tend to find ourselves in the middle of the spit so to speak. Consider us in.

Oh I don't know, I think they will as long as what they see can be explained and I think that's hard but Hamma is in a great position to do it well.

I think you were part of Planetside Day on Gemini when we all fought on Oshur for the last hurrah of PS1.

Even though I was part of it I watched Purrfectstorm's recorded commentary which I thought it was pretty cool.

(Even though she failed to point out that all of AT's gal drops failed and VS failed as a whole because they chose to go for a Dropship instead of a Tech Plant.

And she missed the TR win because of a, ahem, creatively placed router pad.)

Anyway back on topic, I think if described well it can work and I've noticed that some of the specialist casters brought in don't actually know the PS2 names for stuff).

If Hamma can do it all power to him.

Some commentary would be a welcome addition.

So I clarified the original news post just a smidge. What we are looking to do more than anything is covered lage scale events as opposed to specific outfits. Outfits will of course play a role, but we aren't looking to rehash the FNO wheel we are looking to do something new and cover large scale organized operation events as opposed to individual outfit spotlights.

This shit right here, THIS is what I've been looking forward to for a spectator 'sport'.

Likewise!

Some commentary would be a welcome addition.

These live shows will definitely have that. The video is a separate series I will record and pop up a few times a week.

Its save to say Miller would be up for this, but clearly not at that time. Its like 2 Am in the morning for us or something. ;)

Any chance you can make it sooner? otherwise we just chill and wait till after the initial run. :)

I don't like things like this, this is why I never played competetive tribes - because it was a popularity contest amongst clans not a video game.

My guys, we just log on and we play. I got 500 people. I don't think I need to talk to anyone for them to get recognition, they are fighting the enemy every day and whether I come into the TS server or not doesn't change that fact.

I see this too often - tactical squads and clans get the job done and an epeen master takes credit for it in command chat. I'm seeing the same thing here, XXX with clan YYY has just taken Snake Ravine - when in reality it is another clan and another squad but the guy bullshitting on TS is getting the credit.

Anyway what I want to say is that people shouldn't be excluded from GAMING events for not taking part in the POLITICS of a community, which is what I see joining a TS server is all about.

It's not a popularity contest at all, if it was I'd be following one outfit around for 2 hours. In fact if you check out the recording I almost always referred to the sides as their empire names.

People coming on TeamSpeak is not politics... it's people reporting fron the front lines war reporter style.

e-Sport competitions you have an argument.. but not in this case.

My only question is if the observer cam will be limited to only a chosen few or if anyone can be able to use it (after an application to weed out abusers).

The spectator mode is worthless in its current state.

Just look at the pics.

90% of the characters pop up if the camera is 5 m away at max. Therefore most of the time (during aerial shots) we can only imagine how intense the battle is. The current camera guidance is also shit. the camera rumbles like it was packed on a camel. I dont know how the camera is moved but i suspect per mouse and it is not smooth enought that way.

For some cheap youtube clips the specator mode in its current state may be sufficent but for professional esport transmission its just /facepalm

Mox, it isn't always like that consistency varies.

It's a specific thing SOE must grant.

No matter what fun we try to have, somebody always finds a way to make it sound like we're taking something from them. Sweet hybrid alien space baby jebus.

Dont get me wrong. There is no prob with Hama's filming skills and i am sure patricipating in this battle was an intense and funny thing. I dont want to say that more chapters in the battles over auraxis shouldn't be written. But when i watched the clip i see a lot of the epicness of the battle was lost in the recording because of the lousy state of the spectator tool. I hope it get improved.

If you can record some epic battles like the one you had at the bastion like you did last weekend, then I'll be watching :). But I guess that's the tricky thing about Planetside, you have to be at the right place at the right time to find a battle that's truly watchable.

Yea - I agree. Last night I flew around for about 20 minutes and never saw anyone disappear due to rendering issues.. odd.

With observer mode do you have access to any server world wide at any time, with no time(use) restrictions?

Where was this cam this last weekend? Chaos on Miller almost 24 hours a day during double XP and I had to miss most of it due to the Holiday.
It would have been awesome to just park one cam at Scarred Mesa Skydock, another at Rashnu and float a third between the two.
I don't know if it was the 2x XP, the "ghost cap" of Indar (and subsequent triple lock) by the TR or the fact that the NC and VS just don't like us having nice things but DAMN did they seem pissed about something.
We need more factions that just wanna destroy one another because it all amounts to an incredible weekend.
Well played all! :groovy:

+1
This cam would for sure have made awesome footage during the "TR Eastern Indar Cap & Hold Prank Event". 2000 players on a single Spec Ops Training Camp hex, that's not a meat grinder, it was more of a "Mount Shoarma".

Anyway, if you're in short supply of events to shoot or want to just train your observer cam skills, you can always get in contact with one of the TR outfits on Miller. They have regular mass alliance ops, involving 20+ outfits coordinating and I'm sure they will be willing to help you with this.
