The recent introduction of the fantastic sounding NS-11C to the carbine arsenal made me realize how weak and unremarkable the TR carbines sound and feel. That awful high pitched sound even makes an air soft gun feel bad-ass, which is a shame because the TR carbines are not exactly whimps in battle.

Please fix this devs, thank you

IMO sound-design in PS2 is pretty weak generally compared to PS1. I always thought the sound in PS1 was one of the absolute high-points of the game - with every single weapon identifiable by its unique sound - and most of those sounds being pretty damn cool.

I have to agree to this, the gun sounds are lacking in immersion, although the LMGs sound a lot better than they did at the beginning.

I agree that they pitched up the sound of the VX6-7 a tat too high to resemble its high fire rate but in general the VS and NC carbines have more "umph" in them compared to TR.

don't blame me, I asked for this style from day 1, Hamma can confirm ;)

I dunno, I kinda like the sounds of 'em. Especially the LMGs and the AMR-66. And the Cycler (double especially the TRV)

Definitely; a guy in my outfit played certain sounds from PS1 on Teamspeak to see who could recognize them. Jackhammer, MCG, Lasher, Starfire, ScatMAX, Guass Rifle, Cycler, on down the line of recognizability and it isn't until you get to some of the VS weaps that people started screwing up and confusing Pulsar with a Quasar.

The only sound I would consider a recognizable key in PS2 is the clomping NC MAX foot sound; you can hear those things from a mile away.

I agree with this point for sure. Besides the faction differences and the sound of the Lasher the stomp of the Scat MAX is about the only distinct sound. And when you hear that, it's time to drop mines, c4 and run.

Yes a carbine sound buff, to follow the Carv sound buff a few months ago, would be fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think all TR sounds are bad as they did a great job on improving the LMG class sounds and AMR-66. It's the high pitched ones like carbines and to a lesser extend sniper rifles. Adding more low end punch and reverb/delay will probably do a lot for improvement.

Yes I wanted the TR carbine sounds to be revamped from like day 1! Pretty much the only thing why I ever considered not playing TR in beta (ended up playing TR anyway).

Finally, somebody mentions it. It does seem like a silly thing to ask for, but the sound is terrible.

I mean, it's awful. As someone who has logged the majority of his hours as a light assault, the sound really pisses me off. I hear NC and VC shooting their flaming balls of fire and plasma at me and then... I shoot back with spitballs...

I absolutely agree. Never liked the sounds of the starting carbine and AR for the LA and Medic

One of them sounds like a woodpecker. The other is just way too high pitched and doesn't have enough punch.

Really pushed me off of playing TR for a little while. Absolutely weaksauce sounds. (they're getting better though like they did with the TR LMGs)

This is what I expected something with a high ROF as LYNX to sound like Battlefield Bad Company 2: Assault Weapons - F2000 Assault - YouTube

Instead we got an airsoft gun
