I was lead to this post on the PS2 forums a bit ago and really felt it should be shared. This individual shared some ideas that could be implemented to help catch the unscrupulous low lives that are haxzors.

cross posting for attention elsewhere is lame - either post a topic here or dont

You could at least copy/paste the relevant info you want to share.

Sad truth is that hackers can't be completely removed unless they suddenly have an enlightment and they'll see how boring it is. Don't you think developers would've already found a way to permanently disable hacks? I think only cloud gaming has the greatest possibility to do this, but that won't work on fast paced games because of input lag. Not until someone invents teleport network that has no latency.

Nichivo:
"I figured I would post this here, it's kind of a catch all of things that annoy me. I do occasionally read the forums but tend to not post much. Some background info... I've been a hard core gamer for over 2 decades, I've also worked in the gaming field in the past, not to mention been a play tester and even ran new game demo's at conventions in the past.

Now lets get down to brass tacks!

First this is not a complete list, but one of things I personally find annoying. A complete list would take hours to type up and be the size of a novel.

Spawning without health, even if just a glitch is annoying, or using a medkit and getting no health.

People constantly crying OP nerf it!

Current and future proposed changes to mines and other deployables are silly. The only two things that needed to be done, is allow engineers to disarm them, and fix the TR claymores either give them a low profile AI or at least remove the green laser from being visible by NC and VS.
People have found inventive ways to use deployables that's great it adds spice to the game, even if it was not an intended use. Why would you neuter something that can be so diverse and interesting to use and try and defend against? Because someone feels slighted they were not smart enough to think of it, or defend against it?

NV and Thermal should have the same range of effectiveness, or leave it as is and cloakers should show on thermal. Scope NV should look the same as Vehicle NV. A Thermal scope option would also be nice if the above was fixed first. Speaking of scopes 1x and 2x relfex scopes should be useable on most all guns(including pistols), and for the love of killing make the dot on the TR 2x reflex scope the same size as the 1x as it is now it blocks out the sun it's so big.

Cloakers should render the same regardless of graphics settings! Speaking of graphics settings low flora constantly switching to higher and needing to be reset is annoying.

VS and TR AI maxes need slightly more dmg per round and the cone tightened some, NC AI seems more like what a max should be. The AV options on all maxes is less than adequate.

The empire rocket launchers need some tweaking! Lancers dmg needs an increase, phoenix seems about right, and the striker needs a dumbfire mode.

Vehicles.... A lot of people are constantly crying about vehicles, why I have no clue. The Tanks are made of glass! You lost your Sunderer cause one of the 5-10 people around it let an engineer or light assault blow it up, that's your fail not the fail of OP deployables. Got Bombed by a Lib or Rocket spammed by an esf, you failed to take cover or have any anti air support.

Grief ... Please crank the grief way the hell up, since apparently it doesn't stop team killing or spam. Trying to hack a term to change gear or ammo up, splat so guy can kill term. Go to down a gen splat so someone can down it instead. Go to a spawn so you can look at map or grab coffee splat so some kid can get his jollies. Fall back to repair a vehicle splat friendly rocket from idiot. I hear that you can get weapons lock, but never achieved it, does weapons lock really exist? Or maybe Friendly fire needs to be turned off? It sure isn't stopping spam in any way, so would it really make a difference in it's current state? Take your pick either turn it way up or turn it off.

SOE I love the game but please stop NERFING and watering down the game, to suit the people who think if something kills them it's OP. More times than not it's the fact they were being dumb that got them killed not that what killed them is Overpowered.

I may add more later, but I am really hoping that this will fall on the eyes of someone with decision making power at SOE before the game is watered down more by trying to appease the whiners."

Not his thread over at the official forum, afaik, and you remember the advice given in Bambi?

I don't see what any of that has to do with hackers at all?

How about SOE makes a fucking system that actually works against hackers instead of making excellent players stream to SHOW they don't hack? That's bullshit anti-cheat, and it's happen to my outfit more times than any of you know. LOTS of players in my outfit stream for the SOLE purpose of not getting banned in case the anti-hack wizards see a spike in performance.

Yes, another FC player was falsely banned for hacking - he was BR 96. He's so discouraged by it he uninstalled and quit, doesn't even want to fight it. This shit matters now considering MLG is coming up soon. How the fuck do they expect excellent players to play the game if they have to worry about streaming so as not to get banned?

w/e I'm posting with emotion and most of this community will mouth drool over this post claiming SOE is probably right even though they were wrong about every other one of my outfit members in the past.

I believe what Snafu was referring to is farther down in the thread. This perhaps!

“Also.... HACKERS! I dont get how you can be releasing new weapons and content when the game isnt even being played on a fair basis. Absolutely mind boggling to me. Someone had the suggestion of everytime you launch the game, you have to download a new executable in the launcher that makes it so hackers will AT LEAST have to re-do their hacks everytime they login/daily. Not sure how to do that on a technical level, but that sounds like a good start to address the issue.”

That is a big concern of mine. I have logged over blatant ones. It's the subtle ones that are more annoying and destroy game integrity.

Blatant hacks are easy to spot, subtle hacks can be tricky to spot for even a veteran FPS player. If you remember Unreal Tournament, I was very active in both the organized ladder leagues, and aimbot prevention during the matches, I even moderated the anti cheat forums.

I think PS2 would be very suited to a simple bait snare which would catch even the most subtle hacks. Let me explain!
We know they have observer cams, we know they have mods that have avatars(look like players) What they need is a simple combination that for all intensive purposes is an enemy player. Call it a bait Avatar, it can be targeted and killed like any other enemy but with a few minor changes. What minor changes you may ask? First it's not visible in game to the naked eye, but hacks would still be able to pick it out as a target player. Send it into areas with suspect players and observe who is constantly hitting/killing, or looking for(don't forget to rule out radar vehicles or sensor darts) the invisible enemy bait avatar, you just caught an aimbot or esp user. This would also catch passive trigger bots since mousing over the invisible bait avatar would cause them to fire. Remove those people and you are more than likely removing a lot of the people using other hacks like no clip, speed, warping, etc. Those latter hacks can be caught by observation fairly easily with the exception of minor speed bumbing. That would take a sophisticated Algorithm to weed them out effectively, without accidentally nailing the person falling down a cliff, or being tossed by a vehicle and such, or adrenaline using light assaults.

Anyway more needs to be done that is for sure. Kind of a let down this threads not gotten more response. I guess a lack of catchy title didn't help. Of course it's looking like the fact I don't Twitter means SOE will never notice anything I say here.
