I like heavy with C4 better, that way I don't have to switch to a nearly useless class just to use it.

I like Light Assaults, it reminds me of skeet shooting...

Not really seeing this as an issue when there is so much else going on. Also rock, paper, scissors,.......there is always an anwser if you are willing to change your behaviors to overcome the challenge.

Look up into the sky and shoot the LA, it's simple as that. I almost never get killed by C4.

LA, shotgun, C4 is by far the deadliest most efficient class in the game. I feel sorry for the guys on Waterson that I kill, because it's not nearly as simple as 'look up'. Once the shotgun is nerfed and the Carbines have a purpose again I think the LA's will end up sitting back more, making C4 slightly less used. The shotgun nerf hopefully fixes some of it, if not the LA will need a nerf when they do the balance pass of the LA.

I have the auraxium medal with my c4, pump shotty, and auto shotty. And my one SMG, soon to be second SMG if they do nerf the shotguns enough.

Close Range Light Assault is really powerful.

Yea, light assault are probably the most irritating class for me to go against. In CQC they fly up and around thing with their shotgun trained on you the entire time. If I manage to kill the LA it does give me a satisfying feeling.

I was killed once by C4 Jeeehad Jeeep. That was pretty fun because I saw it approaching to my Vanguagrd and even managed to lend the direct hit on him though didn't kill him but he killed me instead.

I will admit LA is alot of fun, I dropped C4 next to a sundy the other day and got like 17 kills. Two blocks of C4 wont take down a sundy but will get it smoking, and C4 only works on the back of tanks, if you put it on the front or sides it wont take it out. I think C4 is ok, not to op, but I cant see why they should nerf it or anything. But Ill have to disagree with you on this one.

Light assault just flies too slow to be an issue. Especially given the cumbersome deployment mechanic that gets you killed before you detonate.

There is one thing that's wrong tho and that is the ability to fly a single EsF into a major aa covered area, hit a tank with a bunch of rockets and if you are about to die to aa, bail and drop c4 to finish the kill, we need pilot kits to stop that.

No pilot class, just a revamp of the resource system to make vehicles valueable assets again.

For completely separate reasons you're right, but resource changes won't stop LA from bailing with c4 to finish kills they couldn't get with the EsF due to aa.

I usually refer to enemy light assaults as "Pigeons" because they are always hanging around on ledges and roof tops...can't say I like their "droppings" though, it tends to go boom...Can we get SOE to put "Alka Seltzer" slugs in the inventory?

I only get to use my C4 as booby traps when back-capping. Can Infs get C4? That sounds useful to me.

I use a lot of C$ and almost always am playing LA(occasionally inf) but i get more kills with my gun.

I don't think LAs with C4 is a problem. It's a creative and effective use of the class. Wouldn't want to completely neuter its anti-vehicle capabilities, now would we?

All effectiveness should be lowered against a tank. They shouldn't be able to be killed by one person. Every MMO out there now uses the metaphor of a tank for the meat shield in the group because tank's are supposed to soak up damage and shrug it off. For whatever reason the dev's have decides tanks need to be 1-shot kill machines with paper thin armor. They've managed to turn the actual tank in the game into the glass cannon.

As with most balance issues, it all goes back to the TTK and how little thought was put into it for this game.

What many people dont appropriate is how many LA deaths occur while attempting cool C4 exploits but failing.

Taking out a damaged Lib or Gal is awesome fun - so fun that Ill usually attempt it any time its at all possible - that means I frequently rush to my death like an idiot.

Historically tanks that are dumb enough to let enemy infantry touch them die quickly in flames.

The number one rule of real tank maneuvers is never let enemy infantry reach you.
This is why real tanks always work as squads or have close infantry support for the tank and they never drive close to buildings that arent secure..
Many(almost all?) tank drivers in PS2 do not do this.

The infantry vs infantry TTK is pretty low, too low. BF3 low almost.

The reality is that tanks need to be pretty deadly AND armored. That doesn't mean that 2 C4 shouldn't kill one though. Vehicles need to be re-envisioned though, for starters the speed and handling certs should be removed and all vehicles should have their maximum speed and handling turned on at all times- tanks especially should be more stabilized for firing on the move. Infantry in exchange should receive BF2 style wire guided AV rockets that can be used to hit those moving tanks. In this way it would be more fun for both sides, vehicles are more nimble yet HA is accordingly more accurate.

I'm not sure MMORPGs should be compared to a shooter though, unless we want to have hit point buff spells and the like.

Light Assault is already very powerful with the 'flight' ability. C4, in my opinion, is extremely powerful. You just have to get close. In the current maps. It's really easy to sneak up and get close to a vehicle. It's almost like one free kill.

As a keen AV MAX fan, LA + C4 is one class that I am very wary about; time to use "Charge" to get away if one gets too close (very effective).

But I've no complaints about LA/C4 whatsoever; MAXes should be vulnerable to this kind of attack. I use LA/C4 myself from time to time, but I save it for ninjaing Sunderers as the need arises.

Im going to try out radar on my mbt. Most of my armor deaths seem to come from infantry these days.

I think the real problem here is how C4 LA can take out maxes so easily.

Props to the LA crowd, I hate you and despise your tactics but I respect its effective use lol =P.

I often shoot em down before they get the drop on us. You can't get to bent at them, they are really squishy you just have to keep an eye out for them.

In answer to the OP, no. I don't see a trend at all. I do see a heck of a lot more engineers and heavy assaults, than light assaults.
