Hello!

Im new to Ps2 and i try to set up the game right for my Computer. i'm from Germany.

My Hardware is:

Athlon X2 5200+ Dualcore Processor
3GB DDR2 RAM
Seagate Barracuda HD
ATI Radeon HD6770 GDDR5 512MB
260W Fan regulated PSU (Cannot change because of special lownoise PC Case where only 3 Exchange PSU exist and fit)
54mbit wlan setup with a Ping of ~35 on internet speedtest and 16mbit Internet connection

About 180W Power Consumption max. (Can test it with 10€ Powermeter from ebay)

My Problem is although i know that my PSU is a bit to small for the Setup, that I can Change the Graphical Options as i want, from high to very low that when i get into battle with some other Players outside the FPS start to drop down to about 15FPS. Other Games like Bioshock Infinite or Alan Wake for Example work with Full Settings and 8x Anti Aliasing without a Problem, although the PSU starts to Speed up its Fans. Even battlefied 3 runs almost smooth at high settings.

I dont know what the Problem is. Indoor the FPS even at high normalize at around 30FPS, outside even at very low 15FPS with other Players and is nearly unplayable. Not even the Fan starts turning loud before.

Does somebody have a solution for that?

Odds are your CPU is holding you back. A game as large as PS2 makes a lot of calculations beyond graphic rendering, unlike most games, so you need a pretty recent gaming CPU for big battles, otherwise you will get slowdown, regardless of your graphics card

As for solutions, the only ones I can think of are upgrading or over clocking the CPU. Otherwise, turn down the render distance and think about where you deploy, avoiding the biggest battles until you can handle them.

I got my best fps increase when I turned down my monitor resolution in the graphics options page. It might help you.

Your computer is just too old to play this game. Or any other new games at full graphics.

Your best bet to play this game would be to change the case (unless you can fit a quality ~400w psu in there), psu, motherboard, cpu and ram. Yes, that is a lot, but there really isn't any other way. Your gpu is still fine in this game.

Yeah, you cant compare PS2 to Alan Wake, Bioshock Infinite or BF3. Although graphically they look similar.. What your PC (specifically your CPU) is having to deal with to produce the result is a whole lot more taxing. Your best bet is turning the render distance down via the userconfig.ini to about 500-1000 (did they drag this out of the config file yet?) and you might get something playable.

There are a lot of guides around to help people get the best out of their system, would be worth searching for those. To give you an idea of the numbers, i run a i3930k (6 cores) OC'ed at 4.4Ghz with everything maxed + PhysX on and i still drop below 30 FPS every now and then.

You might try out some of the advice in Ailos' guide.
