Hey folks, so I took another stab at re-designing the map screen UI since the (welcome) introduction of the new tabular system, and here's what I've come up with.

Basically, I took what was there a step further and tried to make the map more like a widget-rich dashboard, with customisable tabs and so forth.

Few key features:

Multiple tab system
Movable tabs
Better Deployment customisation
Squad/Platoon Management
Waypoint System
Chat Box
Command Toolbar (with UAV/Orbital Strike)
Regional Tooltips
Distinct Squad shapes

To be clear, these designs are less "Hey SOE, it should be done this way" and more "Hey SOE, I'd like to see this functionality in the game". Hopefully some of these ideas will stick! They have before.

The deployment/spawn screen you made is highly superior to the one we have right now, i mean it has numbers that you can click AND NO TINY PULLDOWN MENUS! OH THE MADNESS!!

Make it usable with a keyboard and i'm your fan. Changing equipment should work like this (with keyboard): "use-button", "class button", "loadout button".

Great stuff again, hope the devs give this the eye. I really like the marker idea and how the deploy widget makes everything really visible and easy to select.. The devs could even give configurable hot keys for each class/loadout so you can just hit alt-1 to bring up infiltrator loadout 1, shift-1 to bring up heavy assault loadout 1, shift-3 to bring up medic with rez grandes etc. All mappable.

edit: Or another idea, shift <class first letter> changes to the appropriate class and then shift <number> selects a loadout.

Wow, that's pretty impressive. Looks great. No doubt the devs appreciate it.

And like snipefrag said, please let there be hotkeys for class/loadout. It should only take 0.5 seconds to get what you want from a terminal...at least that's how long it was in the original. I don't really like using my mouse to get the gear I want.
