Can any of the soldiers get vertical. I was wondering because in the trailer i saw a MAX fly

Probably was just the Vanu MAX which has jump jets as its "special" ability. Like the NC gets the shield and the TR can plant themselves. I didn't see the picture so, if it wasn't then I don't know but that would be my guess.

and also when it says you can have 4 characters per world what does that mean?

you can have 4 different name4 differnet characters just liek it says. So you cna be a sniper on one char a pilot on another one.

worlds is like USWEST//USEAST etc and you can have 4 different chars but all are the same empire.

Jatpacks would be fun. Not like Tribes-style ones, but jetpacks which give you an elevated jump, rather than limited but controlled flight. There'd have to be armor restrictions to it, or make it take a rifle slot or something, but it'd be really neat, and I'm disappointed there's nothing like that.

But, hey, maybe in a patch sometime later.

Ya, jetpacks would be nice....but like you said, limited. It was different in tribes, people would fly 100 meters in a single leap with the proper gear, and people would always be getting missile locks on themselves, and well, I guess some elements just dont go good with each other, which i why there are no jet packs in PS, well, thats what I think.

I think there's an interesting balance in Planetside that way. It goes totally against the grain for me as a Tribes player, but giving one of the heaviest armors the most vertical ability does have an interesting kind of balance to it.

I don't know about jetpacks for all, even of the MAX variety but less powerful. I would sort of like more mobility options of some kind, original movement models, but I guess that you couldn't do that without giving the infantry too many options for increased mobility -- and with too many options, there's not enough need for vehicles, which takes away from that part of the game.

personally i'm glad only the Vanu MAX has anything that resembles jet packs. It would make the game to much like tribes (i'm not saying tribes is a bad game). I don't want to see people flying all over the place shooting down at me, thats what vehicles are for, you basically get rid of flying vehicles if u add jetpacks. Now you're saying i used flying vehicles in tribes. well did you use them for their purpose??? or did you use just like everyone else and just kamikaze into the enemy base to take out turrets or anyone foolish enough to stand at the entrance to the base???
