I've been playing PS2 for awhile now and I was playing fine on Friday, I was getting the average 60-80 FPS on ultra, but I come back yesterday, on Sunday, and I'm getting ~20 FPS on high. I have no idea what's going on, I even overclocked my GPU higher than before since I got a new waterblock.

Lag an FPS are two different things.. but regardless of that this game is a mystery when it comes to optimization.

I've noticed a lot of server lag recently. Worst was a guy running around a corner so I start shooting at him doing seemingly no damage then I see him run past me and shot with his pumpy. I died. His character model didn't even turn to face me it was like he shot at the wall infront of where he was running.. don't think hacks can even work that effectively.

Same issue.. was playing on low getting 80fps in large battles and 120-130fps in the warpgate. Tonight I slide showed out at a freaking outpost... i was getting below 10fps on the same settings.

Before people scream my PC sucks. Almost rage quit tonight. How can this game be this unstable without a freaking update yet?

Yeah, I've noticed the drop on fps too. There has been threads that shotgun crosshair might be responsible for this. I see no reason to that and I'm quite a skeptic towards that because of all the shotgun hate that exists. I think the patch is coming today (?) so we get at least a server boot and that might help. Although I've noticed the fps dropping over time (which most people say is memory leak), which I started to have after the latest update. Never had that problem before.

Diddo. Run 45-60 on High Settings but last night was the first time I had it drop below 10. Usuallly I have an issue with lag not FPS. PS2 is a strange animal indeed when it comes to optimization.

I used to be able to run it on all high settings at around 30-40 fps steady, now I have to turn my power to high performance, and run everything on low, and I can run medium graphcis, at around MAYBE 30 fps?

Before the merger of servers, I was getting over 100+ FPS in certain areas and now that number has been cut in half for nearly every location I go to.

I can understand the higher number of players being a factor, but not that much of a decrease. I too have also suffered from the 10 FPS issue forcing me to have to restart the game. Some form of code must have been tinkered with. In Beta with all the players that were there in the weeks before release, the experience was quite smooth. The performance seems to have gotten worse from major patch to major patch for some players.

I get half of my normal framerate only when either on Amerish or using a weapon with the circular crosshair (like a shotgun). Number of players does not effect this.

Has anyone else noticed that?

As for lag it's been worse recently with large amounts of players.
