For the blocked:
We're pulling the MAX update from GU07 this week. We want to get some more time to test and tune before releasing it. Sorry about that!

Also you should look at the Roadmap. MAX update isnt the only thing that got moved around. Flamethrowers are pushed back too (well they are more or less a part of the MAX update anyways). A small update on the Loadout Screen Revamp. IIRC there is some other stuff that is now "unscheduled" too (like the Light Assault Update).
I guess we will see a post from Higby later on.

The pump shotgun disaster probably has them realizing that you cant just add cool stuff because its fun to use.

I hope so. Like you said, other than the regular bug fixing and the VS damage buffs, I didn't think there was anything else of substance going into this update.

I wouldn't call it a disaster, necessarily. It is however my one and only point of contention on the "Is PS2 P2Win?" issue. As far as I am aware, it is the one and only thing for which there is no comparable counter-measure to for a new player or one who hasn't bought a shotgun, barring NC players who get shotties on our vanilla MAXes.

Yeah thats something I'm asking myself right now. Whats left for GU7? Are the weapon updates that Chez was talking about still in? Like the VS damage fall off thingy? I guess we wont see the MAX AV weapon pass yet (makes no sense to implement that if they pushed the whole MAX update back).
So I guess we will see:
NS Pistol
Battle/Scout Rifles update
VS drop off change
Grenade Update (trajectory)
UI updates (Map, Loadout screen)
Bug fixes
Overall it feels more like a small patch than one of the GUs... :(

Wasn't Camo Preview slated for GU07.

Yep. Thats part of the UI update for the Loadout Screen. On the Test Server you can already test it out. While its pretty neat its not something that makes me go all "Wow thats cool".

Does this mean the TR and VS AI MAX weapons are not getting tweaked yet as well?
If so then I don't have to wait for the update to make a thread I was wanting to comparing the new HMG stats to the newish shotgun stats. I can just use the old videos I made a while back for TR and VS with the ones I just finished editing for the changed Hacksaw and Mattock.

They had to nerf an item severely - that many people bought - quickly after release.
Its was not at all what they wanted to have to do - they dont want people deciding to not buy new gear for fear it will be nerfed.

...but the max (TR in my experience so far) needs moar anti tank stuff/ the stock grenade launcher, the M3 pounder, needs a buff! the weapon isn't very good against ANYTHING, due to the low damage it does to tanks-even lightings- AND due to the low splash damage and high bullet drop, it isn't good at killing infantry either!
or maybe i dont know what i am talking about, but this is from my experience, and testing it out in VR.

First its pulled from march roadmap. Now aprils gu too.FFS. if when its released and say one of the max abilities is op.. then u gotta ask Wtf u were guys doing. I've seen indie devs release content on schedules better.
Also... does the roadmap even apply anymore. Lots of febs and marches items are still waiting to be added. And not even difficult things either... As sundome said.. more of a small patch, which begs the question.. Wtf is SOE doing, constant push backs, piss poor q/c (tell me a update that didn't break something major) it seems like a lazy company.

Maybe do to the fact that people would rather solo and camp the crown instead of squadding up and being creative.. Then complain this game sucks cuz they do the same thing everytime.. finally rage quit the game and announcent it to everyone in hopes more will follow.

Yeah, don't build up PS2 as some sort of cerebral experience, because it isn't.

I'm not. I'm just stating an opinion. I could care less if anyone follows me, but I'm just stating that I'm switching for a bit until newer things that are WORTH getting are added. :3

Probably a good idea to take a break from the game. I took a 4 month long break before returning:D

Lazy? No. Too optimistic when they made the roadmap? Yes.
I get that things can take longer than expected. But I'm really tired of using this excuse for all the major features of the game. The roadmap so far has been a giant failure IMO. I work in manufacturing, which is completely different from the entertainment industry, but when you quote someone on a time frame to get something done and then you don't deliver on or around that time frame, you lose those customers. The same effect is coming out of this roadmap. They had things slated for being worked on in February that are now expected due in May. They went from an expected 1 month development time, to a 3 month development time, and they expect us to just be complacent with it. The roadmap really should of just been an ideas map, putting the time frame on there really got the hopes up of a lot of players only to have them brought back down.
I highly doubt we see 2 continents this year, which is really depressing.

I've never really looked at the roadmap as approximations of dates stuff was coming out. I knew it would get all delayed and changed around. Instead I looked at it as SoE's vision of the future of the game.

i am sure the devs stated, that the roadmap was not intended to deliver release dates, when they put up the roadmap.
it was announced as a tool for us to have some impact on the developement.
it was just a big failure to release the map in the form of a timetable. it should just have been a priority poll to show what they would start working on next, without fixed months that could never be the final releasedates.

Agreed, Shogun.

2013-04-16, 01:47 PM
Yep. What Shogun said. If they had released the Roadmap without "fixed" dates many things wouldnt "feel" as wrong as they feel right now. Its the same with the "Every 2 weeks a GU, small patches inbetween"-thingy... if you look at that now you can see how that can never work for PS2. If they had said "Every Month 1 big GU, small patches if needed/features are ready earlier" nobody would have cried...

and stop calling the devs lazy.
i cannot even imagine what magic the engineers had to practise to make this massive game come true. you have to understand that any small change in a complex software as this game can pull a rat´s tail of problems, bugs and sideeffects. often nobody can foresee what problems will arise and how long it may take to overcome them.
i prefer slower progress over fast untested implementations.
people scream when there is not much in an update, but they scream even more when there is something substantial broken in an update, so what?
go and read the making of ps1... and then check what number of devs we have working on ps2... so at least now we have a big team that can work on a lot of cool stuff. thats something ps1 never really had. most of the things from the roadmap will happen. that´s for sure! it´s just unsure when.
i hope the devs will change the roadmap more to a priority poll, where the playerbase always can check back, what is in the works and what is next on the shedule, and where we can change our priority at any time, so the roadmap would also reflect the actual mood of the playerbase.
for new updates might change our feelings about what is needed most next.
also they should do polls over the launcher! this would give a better representation of the playerbase because it will reach even players who never look at forums or the roadmap

My issue with playing an AI and AV MAX (NC) is that so much of my "combat" time is spent reloading. That is unfun. I would rather Falcons be weaker and be able to shoot more of them, for example. The Burster is fun to use because are shooting a lot more often that you are reloading.
I say that while admitting that I do not have a good solution for fixing the shotgun MAX. Clearly at the current damage, large clips would be a problem. I feel more deadly with a Claw than I do with dual Hacksaws because when my MAX suit is reloading, I am just a sitting duck. With an infantry shotty, I can take cover more easily and thus tend to live longer than while wearing a huge armored robot suit.

Yea it doesn't help they lowered clip size. Have you tried the TR Max? You might enjoy it more.

Its more likely that this change will delay the harasser because they cant use the devs that have to work on the MAX update to work on the harasser ;).
But well... I guess GU8 will be friggin awesome? Harasser, MAX etc etc...

But I am wondering... Any bug from beta has been fixed? Why do I think we have lots of new bugs and none of the old ones got fixed?
