View Full Version : Do want: NS Commissioner

Played around with it on the test server, do want.
It's rocking out at 450 dmg at 8m right now. It's a skill cannon, not the best from the hip and totally unforgiving if you miss. But if you can handle it...
No gun is ever worth 7USD$.
But feeling like a champ might be...

Commissioner is great, I absolutely love it!
However, if you are looking for a more conventional all-round pistol (essentially a Magshot equivalent in terms of damage/refire time) for the TR like me, then you are better off with the Underboss.

after testing both, i personally like the feel of the underboss more then the commissioner...that said i would probably only use it on my LA, HA, or my engy.

Gonna stick with my repeater. Barely draw my pistol anyway.

Definitely going to give this thing a try on my infiltrator.

You are missing out. Half the TR I kill would probably have lived if they had used the Repeater instead of their spam cannons.

I do occasionally draw it when my clip runs out and I know dang well I will die if I try to reload.

I found the underboss better. Both are 3 shot kill at 30meters. Has better lower recoil, faster fire rate, quicker reload and both revolvers have same accuracy. Underboss is the 'top boss' of the 6 shooters.
But as calypso said, I might be sticking with my tx1. A pistol with 845 rof and a 21rd mag, its like I have the armistice smg as a back up all the time.

I love them both.
I think they will receive some tweaks before they are released though the underboss is the more attractive option as it stands, but hot damn the commisionar is almost as big as a carbine that itself makes me more excited then it should.:love::love::love::love::love::love:

The reason I'm leaning on the Commissioner over the Underboss is that I don't see them as being that different of a gun. I main TR and so if I'm in a SNAFU, I want that Repeater. The Repeater is a superb side arm but it's awful at a range.
The Commissioner fills the niche of a ranged side arm much better. The recoil of the Underboss and Comissioner is such that the higher RoF of the Underboss is undermined by how uncontrollable it is when you spam fire. They are trying to emulate the Rex and .44 Magnum from BF3.
Both are great guns and the Rex is a little better for CQC. But for what I want, I want a magnum, which is the niche that the Commissioner fills a little better than the Underboss.
If the Repeater wasn't as good as it is, I would probably take the Underboss as my CQC weapon. But at the end of the day, the repeater is brilliant at what it's designed to do. In that case, I'm going to take the Commissioner for the niche role of ranged hand cannon. It's a great complement to classes with CQC weapons.

I just hope they can't be silenced, never truly understood how it is possible to silence some revolvers, maybe they were design for that since the conception.

they cant, at least on the test server, the only attachment you can get is a flashlight or laser sight

These guns should be interesting for the infiltrator class. I prefer the controllability of the Underboss actually.
For the other classes I'm not so sure. Maybe LA can put them to good use.

If they can't be silenced, which would make sense since they are revolvers, then I'm not going to be overly worried about picking them up day 1. Still on my VS having a powerful side arm instead of the manticore for any non-sneaky build would be nice and I can't get over the fact of how awesome the commissioner looks. It's like a Dirty Harry .44 magnum, but all Scifi tricked out.... gotta have it. Probably going to buy it just for looks if nothing else. At least it can be used on all factions.

SUPPRESSOR
You cant 'silence' a firearm, only suppress the noise. "The sound of a projectile, especially one moving faster than the speed of sound, through the air cannot be eliminated." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor
There was a compensator on test for a while but it got removed.

Also from Wiki...
While suppressors are also referred to as "silencers", the latter is misleading because no firearm can be made completely silent, as the term "silencer" implies.[2] Functionally, a suppressor is meant to diminish the report of a discharged round, or make its sound unrecognizable. Other sounds emanating from the weapon remain unchanged. Even subsonic bullets make distinct sounds by their passage through the air and striking targets, and supersonic bullets produce a small sonic boom, resulting in a "ballistic crack". Semi- and fully automatic firearms also make distinct noises as their actions cycle, ejecting the fired cartridge case and loading a new round. Despite being misleading, the term "silencer" is still widespread.
Both the United States Department of Justice and the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive) refer to these devices as "silencers". Additionally, Hiram Percy Maxim (the original inventor of the device) marketed them as "Maxim Silencers."[29]
You obviously knew what we meant. Blame manufacturors and media for the terminology errors.

stuff...
My fav loadout in BF3 for completion was M16 + 44 mag. It was so good to swap to if your primary ran out of ammo, and could hit at a good range!
I have yet to try it out but I will prob rock it with the NS11 set of weapons.

I'm a fan of the Underboss. It's just got a great name.
Can go 'bossing people around. And there's nothing like shooting people in the face like a boss.
It helps that at med/short ranges the recoil from a center mass shot takes you to a headshot with the follow up. It's a fun gun.

Ok, I see lots of people with the commissioner, but I haven't seen a underboss on the field yet.
Died once to a commissioner, I really think 450 DMG to finish someone you already unloaded your weapon over kill, but it worked on me.
Them I was doing a great kill streak on, omg, I forgot the name of the SE tech plant of Indar, the one closer to the TR warp gate.
That place ofmthemmap everyone knows it is horrible, lots of anti air and anti tank parties on those cliffs, so I decided to kill one engineer that was doing that and just realized I was seeing all the battlefield, had to grab my sr-7 and start sniping.
27 kills later, half most of NC, some from the Vanu, yeah I forgot to mention, the tech plant was under a three way party, the NC captured it from the TR after a long defense, we were trying to get it back but we had half the NC population, and we just stopped the NC Zerg in the stronghold, I love that base so much!
So the tech plant was under nc control, we couldn't break their lines, but the Vanu came from behind and started capturing the base, it was awesome to stop the VS capture at 90% and take it back!
Ok, back to my sniping, another 2 NC snipers came from nowhere and killed the engineer from my outfit that was giving me ammo, I just knew he was killed by one sniper, so I hide and started looking for him, found him, one headshot and I could go back to my sniping, but my buddy told me it was not that name who killed him!
The other one as anxious and running around with the commissioner and cloaking and uncloacking, in panic, no use for my sr-7, so I had to use my tx-1 waited him to get in a corner so he couldn't not dodge my shots, uncloacked and started shooting at him staffing so he couldn't kill me.
Unleashed the 21 shots he's was alive, so was I, reloaded first and killed him, just checked my health bar, almost empty!
Did the math, why am I alive?
450 each shot, infiltrators got 400 shield plus 500 health... Omg, I am using nano weaver 1 so I am with 50 points of health! I never use nano weaver on infiltrator, only with smg! And not all the times!
Now I realize that if Nanoweaver can make a weapon that kills in 2 shots, need to hit 3 and only got 6, it is the best counter to it!
Sorry for all those deviations just to say that Nanoweaver is great in that situation.

Bought the 20 dollar version of the commisionar.
Absolutely fantastic sidearm.
However, the underboss seems to be loved by infiltrators on briggs.
They uncloak right behind you and unload 3 shots into you before you can spin around and kill them.
My nerf bat senses are going ballistic.

The comissioner with its tremendous muzzle velocity, yeah I see no way that youre going to ever get that bad boy silenced. Plus its a freaking cannon. These new pistols are amazing.

Right, because an infil that sneaks up behind you can't already kill you in a number of ways before you react. :groovy:
The idea that should have some kind of right to spin around and kill someone that snuck up behind you and it now shooting you in the back of the head is ridiculous.

Yeah I can see the Revolvers getting taken away from infils aswell.. Decloak behind you bang bang bang dead. Glad I havent bought one yet, Ill wait til the nerf hammer comes down to see if they are still useable.
Found a great way to render them useless though... Bunny hop like CRAZY :bouncy:, dance around them like a Indian doing a war dance.. Those 6 shots get expended fast then its a easy TX1 845 ROF 21magazine to the face! People seem to have a hard time getting a bet on someone jumping like a mad man. I spose thats the counter to revolvers lol

well, you can already take 2-3 loads off with a pistol and then knife. I guess the only advantage of a pistol is it has some range to it.

Or point blank sniper headshot, or a couple scout rifle shots or drop a proxy or a well aimed SMG or even drop a grenade at their feet.
The point is: If you get snuck up on they don't need the revolver to deal with you almost instantly - Some other options are even faster.

I confess, I went ahead and got this for the lulz.
It is an okay pistol... feels like it was designed to be one of those zombie-shooting pistols that you draw when you don't feel comfortable with your shotgun in a different game.
Albeit less powerful because a one-shot headshot pistol would be too much.

Would it be? Damn tough to land with that kind of recoil. I'm comparing apples to oranges here by saying that in BF3, the .44 Magnum one shots people to the head up to some pretty wild ranges. The gun isn't OP because landing the hit is A.) Clutch and B.) The follow up shot takes a long time so gunning down multiple people under fire isn't a strong point for the gun.
It might be a little much giving infiltrators such power in Planetside 2. But hey, it's 6 shots, doesn't reload very fast and can't be silenced. Not to mention it must be a headshot and it has heinous recoil.
If Aloeanda didn't make run-n-gun infiltrating look so easy to start, SoE might have gone ahead and made it a 1 shot headshot

Why is everyone commenting on Infiltrators walking up behind them and shooting three times with these new pistols? Far...far more efficient to walk up, shoot once->Instant knife and kill 3 times as many people before needing ammo, and more stealthily as it's far easier to miss the report of 1 gun shot, as opposed to 3.
People underestimate the ShoostKnife tactic, IMO. These pistols are why I didn't buy an SMG, I'll just Commission someone in the back.
Shotguns for Infiltrators? Boy, thats why I got me knife'n'gun.
