Even before the extravagant prices were revealed, I had no intention of getting the gold version. Gold is far too 'bling' for my tastes. I was going to get the black version but the price tag and the fact that it wasn't quite black forced my hand.

Personally I think the standard white looks the best.

Im waiting for the nerf hammer to come down on the revolvers before I buy one.. See if they are usable after it, if this was just to gauge how much people are willing to spend on guns... Does that mean we will be seeing $10-20 guns more often... I hope to god we dont.

Gold on armor I might pay premium for, but I prefer my weapons to not be so flashy. Really thought about getting the black version but I only have a few thousand SC left, and with the MAX update I'll be spending at least 1x GL, RL, and 2x Flamethrowers.

No, not gonna buy it. They way I see it, the proper way for SOE to address these combinations is by selling the base model of the weapon, then selling the Black and Gold weapon skins as separate aesthetics. They can be 700 SC apiece, but this would also force them to make black and gold trim versions of every weapon that already exists, or otherwise have some way to limit it to pistols for now.

I had put a small disclaimer at the bottom of it stating that I know that contributors of $100 get the gold name but didnt think I needed to and removed it.

They finally start making some kind of alternate gun colors other then camo and then charge outlandish prices for them. This pretty much crushes my hopes of the art team making new models skins for all these guns we currently have.

They seriously need to stop adding new guns and just add more depth to the existing ones. I'm getting tired of 90% of NC guns looking the same. There's almost no point showing a gun icon in the kill spam when you can't tell what it is.

Edit: This really strikes a nerve with me because since before beta I thought there would be far more variety in skins. All we have is camouflage. There are a couple off ones like Zebra, but where's the crazy, fun or plain skins? I thought soldiers would be able to make themselves all Blue, or Red. Maybe black with a Red Sash from shoulder to waist. I imagined Outfit uniforms could be this way, editing the sash to different outfit colors. Gold, Chrome, and Black finishes on weapons.

But if these guns are successful these things will never happen, without paying 2k STATION CASH!

Basically, if you buy the black or gold revolvers, it's only a matter of time before they start overcharging new camos.

They already improved the rocket launchers skin, maybe until the end of the year we can see more improved skins on the current weapons too.
All nc weapons looks the same? Try the TR, we got the tmg-50, and all the other 6 guns got the exactly the same look, maybe with a really minor detail in each one. Even the TMG-50 is the same weapon, but all write!

No I'm not stupid enough to pay more for something that I can get for less. And as I use camouflage on my weapons I went with the white. As no one would see the difference between the white gold or black one when it has camouflage on.

The way i see it is that people that buy it contribute to the games cashflow... it's not something i'd buy but hey if its your thing and it sells all credit to SOE.

I spent certs to get the commissioner, not because i don't have the SC but because i didn't feel compelled to spend actual money on it at 700SC. Personally i think SOE are taking the piss out of the standard SC purchasing people (those that buy SC out of the double/triple cash deals).

I also think the current buggy and broken nature of the game makes me not want to spend cash and unlikely to resub unless things improve (the timers on bases are a good start but they need to get on it)

So far i am $200+ into the game and it's still feeling like beta, now you may say what has this gotta do with gold pistols? well the more crap the player has to deal with the less likely they are to spend $20 only a gold pistol or even $7.

Does camo cover the gold? On the Facebook pistols the gold plate is in places that camo doesn't cover... making it still have gold showing.

Never been a huge fan of blinged out weapons. I did consider the black version for a long time before settling on the white. I run camo 100% of the time so don't really care... I noticed they seemed to change the VR room so it's harder to see what camo looks like... can you even change camo in VR anymore?

Other contributing factors: quality of the appearance.

Color quality on items in PS2 tends to change drastically depending on the lighting conditions. Most of the time the white one looks a dull light grey, the black one looks a dull dark grey, and the gold one looks a dingy, slightly metallic brown. If the special colored ones "popped" more (i.e. the gold was bright and shiny, even at night and the black was dark and shiny/matte, even during the day) more people might have bought them.

I don't mind silly stuff like that having silly prices in the shop. I honestly prefer that if the game is going to have gold weapons, they cost silly amounts of money and be statistically identical to their conventional variants. (It allows the people who spend on them to feel like they have awesome looking stuff, and allows me to be amused by that big, gaudy price-tag on their gun on my death-screen. ;))

I have an unfortunate feeling that this is going to be a trend in the future, which kind of sucks from the perspective of collecting all guns and auraxiums, but meh.

I would prefer the typical model with the 700/1000 SC/Cert release of one basic skin rather than the black/gold reskin choices, even though I did purchase one to show my support for the game and the company as a whole. It is not something I would want to feel compelled to do on a repeat basis though, especially for how steep I felt the black/gold prices were.

I could get with it a bit more if they were, say, 700 SC for basic, then maybe an extra 100-200 SC for the additional reskins, but jumping to 1400 and then 2000 was really pushing it I felt. Granted I don't have room to talk much since I did buy it, but as I said I justified it to myself as a contribution to a game and organization that I really love -- not a business model that I hope they continue with.

That said, if you do continue in this direction, I'd consider offering these alternatives for cheaper, especially since it's an entirely different gun by stat tracking purposes. I think 800-1000 would have been fair for the Black, and 900-1200 for the Gold. Perhaps maybe even keeping them at 700 but making them membership-exclusive, which is what I originally thought was going to happen with the revolvers.

I bought the gold revolver because I wanted to keep the gold pistol theme from my gold beamer.
