Yes. Absolutely annoying.
EDIT: Just realized it said like or dislike... I mean no, I dislike it entirely.

I think it is useless. Most weapons won't deal too much damage, so you can see it from the hitmarker if you headshotted or not. And there is really no point in hearing if you get headshotted by enemy, it's more like annoying.

Ikr? It's like, Woopity doo, you managed to hit my head. Now stop making it sound like you're shooting clays every time it hits my head.

I'm fine with it. TBH, it does not really bother me.

There was a new headshot sound in GU7?

I actually really like it - now when some ninja bastard kills me in a split-second when I was sure I had the drop on him, at least I know for sure it was because of a string of head-shots... ;)
In other news: some people sure are good at head-shots :(

I like it. While you're dying it informs you that you were hit in the head once or twice before you died. Whenever you're killing someone, you're rewarded with the indication that you did successfully nail a headshot or two.
I hardly ever get annoyed when I lose a one to one firefight or if I get headshotted by a sniper as the hit indicator informs me what happened, and how I can avoid it in the future if a medic immediately rezzes me.

When I first heard the "ping" sound I couldn't help but think of Monty Python. Then again I do think about Monty Python quite a lot, in fact I'm thinking about it right now... Anyway.
Monty Python - Hospital Sketch - YouTube
I do find it humorous at times, the headshot sound not the video, to hear it and immediately go "thud" onto the ground. Other times it can be a bit irritating when all I hear is "PING!", which usually indicates that there is a hacker around... Which brings me to another point, it might make me more aware of aimbotters... Well, if I failed to notice the 10 people said hacker just killed in the matter of seconds with his/her SMG at 100 meters. So there's that.
Oh, but it has made me wanting to aim for the head more often. Not so much as to kill my enemies faster but to make sure that the last sound the bastards hear before they go "thud" is the same sound I hear before I scream out an assortment of swears... Especially when I get sniped when trying to revive someone, dirty snipers... Mash that dirty sneaky scum, kick 'em in the teeth where it hurts. Kill! Kill! Kill! The filthy bastard snipers, I hate 'em! I hate 'em! Aaargh! Aaargh!
So in conclusion; I have no idea why they added it in, besides just for kicks, but I'm OK with it. Mostly because I do like machines that go "PING".
I do wonder... What's going to happen when they add in hats to replace helmets? Is it still going to go "ping" and if so why do we all have metal plates in our heads now? Who tampered with the revival tubes to implant them, was it you Clegger? Did you Clegg it up!?

I assume its a sound that players getting hit hear?
Maybe Roy can extract it for us to listen to.

Well tbh I'm hoping for some more ping sounds in the gun fire, any time the VS or NC attack a TR position it should be a lot like this
Once you watch it listen again with your eyes closed to the sounds

Honestly, I like it. I don't feel as angry when I go down from a headshot. Now I know instead of asking how the hell he killed me so quickly.

I mostly dislike it because it's an abrupt annoying noise that happens when you are dying. If head shots were more random I would like it, but almost every time I die I hear "ping" it's loud and just sounds dumb.

I must confess, tis the first time I've 'eard of such a thing. I suppose I just haven't really noticed it, in the heat of battle, either inflicting or receiving headshots.
Well will be definitely keepin an ear out.

I find it really annoying. I wish rather there was a visual indicator on both ends of it. Like if the target's shield over their head shimmered, or you got a different crosshair marker.
And that the kill screen gave you a bit more info like % damage by weapon per hitbox. I don't need to know I was headshot as it happens, I just need to know soon after to why the heck I died so fast.
edit: basically what Hamma said, it just makes abrupt death more annoying

Basically my sentiments.
I love it. Being a Counter-Strike player, getting dinked is already a common thing to me, and I love it being in Planetside now. Especially because prior to this update, you had no idea if a headshot killed you or not. Now, when I die incredibly fast or feel that I should've won a fight, but I hear a ding, it's actually a good explanation for why I lost.
Overall, 10/10, great feature.

I like the idea of aural feedback, but the actual SFX could be tweaked a little. Perhaps 4.5-6dB down. I'd add a bit of a "ping" sound and maybe a little less less metallic can.

The good thing about the new headshot sound. Is it makes it even easier to spot aimbots!
Last night a guy was shooting me from 125m with an LMG. PING PING PING >> /report

If headshots were random at all a lot of people would not be playing this game.

That's exactly what my best friend says as well. He's actually an infil primarily and one of those people that get super frustrated when they don't understand how they've died at times, so once he logs in and notices it, I'm sure he'll appreciate the change on both ends.

Auditory feedback is a good thing as long as it doesn't become overbearing. In this case, I like that it's there, I just can't stand the tin-can sound. The head is not made of metal. I realize they can't make a lot of the common headshot melon-explosion type sounds due to the game being gore-free, but they could come up with something else that doesn't make me jump a foot off my chair everytime I get headshotted by a sniper.
It doesnt bother me, but I do use it for spotting aim botters. The other day a guy killed me like 6 times in a row with head shots, and from what I could tell he wasnt even aiming, and each shot he took hit square on. It seemed like no matter how I moved I kept getting hit in the head. So I reported him.

I think the ding sound is from the head gear being hit..... Sillly:D

lol said that to my friend when he asked what that loud ping was, told him it was bullet rattling around the inside of his helm when it was done rattling around in his skull
VS should make disintegrating sound though, energy weapons and all that.

At first glance I thought it was annoying and distracting and served little purpose, but after some time I now like it. Here's why:
I find it nice to know when I get completely obliterated by someone that they just chain head shotted me three times in a row. Maybe they're a good shot, maybe they're lucky, or maybe they're cheating. Nonetheless, it helps explain some random quick deaths.
More importantly, it made me realize that my typical "dance moves" that I've used in other server-side hit detection games (i.e. circle strafing and weaving crouches in between to help dodge bullets) only serve to hinder my performance in PlanetSide 2 - a client-side hit detection based game. Since the headshot sound was implemented, I realized more often than not when I hit that crouch button while dodging bullets, it would give the enemy a free headshot. This would happen because he is firing at my body and I am simply putting my head in his crosshair when I crouch, and with CSHD my movements aren't fast enough for his client to not register a headshot in that type of situation. Needless to say, I've been trying to break that habit for this game.

It sounds like a bullet ricocheting off of metal... Useful, but annoying.

I like having *A* headshot sound, but I'm not so sure this one is the way to go. I'd like something... MEATIER. I know this is SOE, and that means NO GORE (bah! I just took a head shot from a 150mm cannon... and I just fell over in one piece?), but none the less, "ping" just doesn't quite work for me.
What I'd really like is separate sounds for shield hits, health-damaging hits, and head shots... and make it easy to distinguish between what you take and what the guy next to you takes, even in mono.
They could even add empire-specific shield hits if they want to go crazy.
But as a first rev on a feature, this ain't bad.

I like it. It's good feedback as to why you suddenly dropped dead.
I also liked the helmet "tink!" sound in BC2 whenever you shot somebody in the head at close quarters. Granted it's the other way around in this game, I'd add that effect here too.
Anyway, I like it. Although I guess the volume of it could be slightly adjusted if so many have a problem with it.

Sorry worded it wrong, what I meant was if I didn't get headshotted almost every time I die.
I dislike it.
I have nothing against headshots being more evident, but the current sound is too different than the normal "getting shot" sound, so it's just jarring and annoying. To me, imagine if when hitting a weak point, instead of the thin-outer-red-circle that appears, the entire circle was just opaque-filled-in-red.
Noticeable? Definitely. Too much? Definitely.

i don't mind it at all, it is a nice indication of letting you know if you get hit or not.
although, it would be nice to see where you got shot, ala Max Payne 3 multiplayer, but i don't mind.
