Actually, no. I wouldn't want that water, since that water would require me to use water in order to cool my GPU:p

That would be.... AMAZING. Too bad there isn't really beaches on anywhere except Amerish, which aren't large enough to have things like this.

The demo was rendered realtime on a GTX580. Given the current state of PS2's performance right now, I'd say we'd be drowning in low framerates. The only people who'd be able to run this would be those running at max settings with physx enabled and still aren't close to maxing their systems. I'd be willing to be even a 690 would choke running everything.

Is this where we say "Water is overpowered. Nerf water."?

looks great, and when see the basic form of how it runs looks so simple as well. would look great in planetside 2. imagine coming ashore from a small attack boat to run a raid on a base. that water would amazing with the lighting effects in the game atm.
on the question of frame rate? is only you Nvidia guys getting low frame rate? im at 60-70 in fairly big fights and 170+ when not alot going on.

I thought beaches where illegal on Auraxis. I can't get 100 yards near a shore without going out of bounds

That demonstration is impressive, but it's based on particles and there is a limited number of those the computer can handle at the same time, so an aquarium full of that kind of water might be able to render in real time, but a whole river or lake full of it is still a bit in the future.

If you go to Indar on the north east shore there is a tiny space between the outta bounds zones where you can actually drive to the ocean and get your feet wet.

This isn't physically possible in PS2 unless we somehow manage to move toward a game with point-cloud data models instead of polygons and particle effects.
oh wait
its a particle effect
LOL GOOD LUCK RUNNING THAT

This is my dream, to fly out over the water and smoke a cig and just watch the water splash on the shores.

If I could watch that at 60fps I'd be smoking more than just a cigarette

I wonder, is there any way to run that water off of PhysX? Then it could be optional and add no CPU load.

You wont be seeing this stuff in any game for at least some years. Way to taxing on current hardware. It's a nice proof of concept, but nothing more.
I built my current PC and its running 50 to 60 FPS on ultra. This forgelight graphics looks so pretty.

It looks great, but that's because it was the only significant thing being rendered in a very small environment.

That was PhysX, and it was on the GPU.

Exactly.
Double the size of the simulation, and things become interresting.

Id rather squeeze more FPS in big battles without pointless beaches. They are in restricted zones anyway.

we wont get this is PS2. no way. when water doesn't kill you in PS2, it will be like BF.
