View Full Version : The new camo interface makes it signifigantly harder to switch camo.

Its a step backwards in usability.

I switch my camo frequently - and I use different camo on different classes.

With the new interface i have to scroll trough all the one use camos that i have tried in the past before i can get to my permeant camos that i want to choose from.

You have to do this everytime. It kind of sucks.

Okay, so maybe a drop down box or the like may have been more useful but I like it (except when I'm fighting over biolabs on Esamir).
Previously I had to set up one loadout per cont, now it's whatever, whenever. Just factor in an extra ~10 seconds every time you switch camos out.

If you dont use the same camo on all your classes(you really shouldnt if you play inf frequently) it offers no functionality and wastes a lot of time.

I play infantry almost exclusively (sometimes I drive a bang bus) and like I said, with the exception of bouncing back and forth, in and out on Esamir, this option saves me tons of time. I simply change camos instead of changing weapons (and associated attachments)

Once you get on a continent are you really going to change camo that often?
This way instead of having a loadout for Indar, Esamir and Amerish (and their associated environs such as using an 'Amerish' camo on SW Indar') one can simply set it up and roll.

Without a feature like this I would need at least three times the amount of loadouts and at least twice as long to click through the UI every time I shifted areas and/or engagement range.

I simply don't see how you can say that this setup is more inefficient than the nothing we had to deal with prior to this.

I think its OK i only have three sets of cammo, desert, wood, snow. one set for weapons and uniforms. This new system is nice for me. :D

I seriously cannot fathom why you would possibly complain about this feature. The system from before its implementation remains, if you really want to back to that shit show and apply camos individually, go right ahead. Claiming it's "a step backwards" is ridiculous.

Significantly easier...

You mean one time camos exist as a selection box eventhough they are x0?

They are killing one time camos soon anyway so there you go

Guys, you don't get it.
He is not complaining about the global camo selector that everyone loves and was my suggestion.
He is complaining that when you will change camo for one item only, clicking on the camo, it shows all camos of the game, not only the ones you got, but all of them, even the single use ones!
Most of the times the camo you own will be on the top of the list, but sometimes it is bugged and you must scroll around all those camos and single use camos to find the one you have and want to use.
There should be a selector, like in the outfit menu, where you can hide the offline members, so you can hide camos you don't own!

glad I never bought 1 use camo's ;)

Yeah as Ruffdog said the dev's are aware of the problem and are already working on a fix.

No its not easier if in the past you bought a large number or one time use camos.

I have to to scroll through several pages of camos that I no longer have in order to get to the ones I do i have. And they look the same as the ones i do have exapet in the top corner it says 0/999 instead of showing the inifinity mark.

Its a pure head ache that doesnt help.

Who buys a single use camo to not use it right away?
>Logic.

Maybe they were on sale one day?

I personally love the new system. Drastically easier over the old system.

Is the point of you post to show that you cant use logic? Or just that you cant read properly?

The problem is even if you used up all the single use camos(as I did) the new interface keeps them at the top of your selections with a count of zero.

Ah, okay that makes more sense. My reading comprehension is not so good.
I haven't run across that bug, but I've only bought a couple of the single use camos.
Either way, I stand by my statement that a drop down menu would be more efficient.

Although the new system is a much needed improvement, it too can be improved.

I would like any, or all, of the following.

1. Camouflage management screen to lock those camouflages I have but don't use.

2. Camouflage management screen to sort camouflages by type, by name, or manually.

3. Camouflage management screen to assign camouflages to each of my individual set-ups and then save the whole thing to an assigned set. This then could be selected to quick switch via drop-down. Gimme three sets to save, and allow me to buy more.

4. In addition to clicking on the arrows to cycle camouflages, allow me to click on the camouflage box itself to get a drop-down or separate screen to pick the camouflage I want.

5. Smaller icons on the standard camouflage selection screen (or an option for them) so those of us who bought too many camouflages have less scrolling in our lives.

6. Options to auto sort camouflages by name, color, environment, most used, etc in the standard camouflage selection screen to aid in finding the right camouflage.

7. All camouflages adjusted slightly by pattern size, tint, contrast, orientation, etc so that each empire's camouflages are different even when the same camouflage is used between empires. (not necessarily a redder tint to TR or bluer to NC, but that wouldn't be so bad either)
