Thanks for the post. Had not heard of this. I won't get my hopes up for PS2 but still really neat.

woooowww !! thats cool man !
Would be really nice for dogfighting as you will have a huge field of view... Also i think we would get better fps because oculus rift doesnt use 1080p resolution :) but looks just as crisp due to its design..

i knew the devs ordered a rift devkit, great that it has arrived!
but i still don´t know how it is possible to find the right keys on the keyboard while wearing this eyeblocker. is there any integrated solution for this? not everybody can type blinded, and especially planetside 2 has some deadly keys directly beside each other, that are even confused often by people who can actually see the keyboard.
nothing more annoying than bailing to death from a vehicle when all you wanted was to reload your gun.

you could place little textured stickers on the different keys. That's what people do in order to get used to the razer naga.

They can't even support multi-monitor properly.

They can't even support multi-monitor properly.
damn so much negativity. They obviously had bigger issues to solve at launch than multi-monitor support when most of the player base does not use multi monitors to game. I'm sure that if they implement things such as the rift , they would also try to solve the multi-monitors and joysticks.

joystick is still broken?
damn, this should really be a high priority! joysticks are not an exotic controllertype only a few players own! the only times i tried to fly, my plane crashed immediately because my joystick seemed to have no deadzone. never tried again.
i feel like i am missing out on the best part of the game because of that issue.
but the uncustomizable keyboard mouse control for flying doesn´t fit, so i have to pass.
but back on topic, when the oculus is supported, and the final consumer version is on the market, i will most definitely buy one! can´t see the enemies on a 2m wide screen with beamer, maybe this finally helps ;)

Strange logic, I think rift is somewhat more niche than multi-monitor, and launch was almost 6 months ago btw.

Theyve done a pretty shit job supporting peripherals. Guys love their toys.

i always thought supporting peripherals like joysticks was the most easy part of gamedevelopement.
and yes, guys like their toys. girls also like their toys ;)
this is a pc only game, and the big advantage of pc is, that there are great peripheral devices available. the more the game supports, the more owners of such toys will try the game. just look at star citizen! they are going to support everything they can get their hands on! oculus rift included!

I'm extremely glad to see this, hopefully they continue to work on and support its implementation, would be a fantastic boon to forgelight.

VR is niche atm because hardware support has been extremely poor until the rift came along. The rift is still being designed, the thing that released in march of this year is a preliminary dev kit intended to allow studios and indie devs to begin work on software/hardware integration. Devs have over a year to work on support for the rift, it does not officially release until late 2014 with much further developed hardware. The current design lacks the positional tracking, external cameras, and a properly sized (smaller & higher res) screen.

There's some interesting art in the background, excellent whiteboard utilization, fast food lunch remains, and IDK WTF that white spiral tower thing is in the foreground . . .
And I guess the VR headset apparently being used to freelook around the cockpit of a Reaver is mildly interesting as well . . . :jawdrop:
Got my Oculus on order I CANT FREAKING WAIT!
Although using the Oculus within PS2 would need the game redesigned from the ground up including UI's etc. Just the way VR works.....
