View Full Version : Summer project - anyone willing to help?

From the beginning of June to the middle of September is my summer break from college, when I get to go back home and waste time doing nothing constructive.

I've had an idea for a long time. I really want to leave something permanent for the community in case things don't go our way with PlanetSide 1 (which is a very real possibility) or even if they do.

What I want to do is attempt a sort of historical project, an archiving of PlanetSide written in a way that combines several genres (narrative, images, blogs, reviews, videos, etc) that traces the history of PlanetSide from its earliest origins right up until the present day.

This will, in part, provide an epic source of nostalgia for those who took part in the game over the course of its ten years and will seek to preserve ANYTHING and EVERYTHING related to the first game.

This project would have its own website with links to all the primary materials (referenced links, articles, videos, forum posts). The material used for this project would be all inclusive, from the most formal SOE statements to the most ridiculous moments in PlanetSide history, which will be harder to do now that the official forums are gone.

So what I was wondering was if there is anyone willing to assist me in collecting these materials this summer? I would set up a webpage/forum post/email contact list/whatever in order to collect as much material as possible.

Should just do it here. I'll start. http://www.edge-online.com/features/the-making-of-planetside/

I know of another article written by a PS1 dev something about the original assets they wwanted to use but couldn't because of performance problems so they had to scale back? Can't recall where I read it. Edit: Found it. here: http://jratcliffscarab.blogspot.fr/2007/08/planetside-screenshots.html
