Would like to try, but how?

Hello everyone. I come here because I am absolutely hooked into PS2. Clocked over 400 hours in the game, ever since I joined in Beta. I was first made aware of it by a friend who played Planetside, and we played together for some time...

but then, he left, but not before filling my head with so many stories about the first one you would not believe.

So I've been looking around, videos, stories, screens... and holy hell why did I not know that game existed

So yes, I would in fact like to try it out. There's noone playing? Who cares, even if it's just me and my friend, I'd still want to check it out. I'm sure I can convince some of my PS2 friends to come check it as well


...That being said, I am absolutely unable to figure how to. I have the launcher, and as expected, it's telling me I need a subscription. And that's ok.. but how would I do that? There's no mention of it in the SOE website, nor in account management, and the PS website is more of a showcase than anything else. I've even tried downloading the trial... but ends with a 404 error every time

PS1 isn't F2P until now.You should get back and give it a shot when SOE make it F2P.Then it will show you the real planetside.PS2 isn't a planetside game .

There is an attempt to have an event on the 20th of may to celebrate the 10th anniversary. That would be the best time to sub.

The subscription option should be found within the account settings iirc.

I am aware there is a sub cost... it's just that I can't find the option to sub at all

And nevermind, it appears that I had to dig all the way through the SOE site to find the "buy" option

Now to wait for the server to become avaliable!

You can usually find a few on during US daytime. It usually see anywhere from 1-4 people on at any given time.

/who nc
/who vs
/who tr

(only works for own empire now), shows the people on the same continent as you.

/who cr1 (cr2 - cr5) shows people of command rank

/who hoss shows friendly people on Hossin *can do that for every continent*

Again though, I doubt you will see many if any people on till the 20th.

Anyway, character name is Qyvalar, VS. I did meet someone today, but had to disconnect to fix my left key being stuck

I am still unsure how the warpgate travel works. In general, there's a butt load of stuff I still have to figure out... but flying a mossie is fun ^^

And damn I love that inventory system

Yeah... we miss the inventory system a lot. Some twats said they didn't want to "play tetris" and that "it was too hard for people to understand". (I mean wtf?)


For wargate, go to the center of it (cone of light), you'll be taken to the world map if it is a broadcast warpgate (otherwise it's just going to warp you through automatically since it only can go one way). Double click on a map, then click on the warpgate you want to go to. To get to the caves, find an active GeoWarp, go to the geowarp on the continent, then (if you spawned there by broadcast) go out of the gate and back in, into the centre of the warpgate.

Well it used to be part of the Aftershock expansion (caves with the Core Combat expansion), during the bending, the continent of Oshur was replaced by the four mini continents.

I did hear about issues with flagging for expansions earlier, apparently there were others unable to get into the caves. :/ Didn't know the battle islands were closed off as well... Probably a bug they're not fixing because there are too few players in game.

Yeah it's a bug. You bought the digital copy for $20 which came with a free month right? That comes with all the expansions so you should be able to get in osher/caves but something wonky is going on with the code recently.

My own preferred method of finding out who is on is:

/who a

/who o
/who u

That will get whoever has a vowel in their name, which should be MOST people except for a very small amount.

Planetside had some awesome features like looting out of corpses. Was great running out of ammo and finding a corpse bag to loot whatever you could to kill with, i miss that.

If only the devs who made planetside 2 actually played planetside... then they would understand how alot of these little features made the game what it was.
