Id say its pretty random... You meet the specs and ur name goes into a great big bowl full of names... then they pick one if they need it ;)

My hypoth is that they're looking for people with lots of other FPS/action experience, especially those who know how to fix bugs. Remember the list of games that you said you've either played or beta tested in your PS beta application?
