I love this game but sometimes it feels like 95% of the land is unusable for troops.
What I mean by this is that their is basically no cover, so all troops go to the same locations over and over again...Battles after a while feel the same because of the limited cover.
The facilities also arn't very large, specifically the towers/BioDome, fights take place on the same Narrow doorways.

This is how it feels fighting on those small facilities which in my opinion are basically a small map for 8 vs 8 multiplayer....It really isn't designed to house so much players. The stalemates on those doorways IMO grow tiresome, sure you can make a lot of XP but they arn't fun.
I played this game since August, only infantry....and those Stalemates on the shielded doorway on the biodome are really some of the most horrible things on the game, really boring unless u have a zerg to muscle thru it.
Sure the scale of the game looks amazing because vehicles can use that open land but for infantry, is just horrible, it doesn't feel open at all.
I would wish for the team to make bigger/better design towers and facilities but that may not happen because it will be too much work.
However outside the facilities they need more trees like in ps1

I think that is easily doable and will turn that 95% unusable open space into useable space since Infantry could finally hide....
It Will create more unique battles.

Oh, it looks like you captured a pic of a VS AA max in action!
I don't disagree about trees but I think he Bio is fine and even more I think the Amp is horrible partly because it's too big.
At the moment I think the new outpost on test and South Saurva is about the right size and I'd like to see how that plays out.

Well Hossin fixes alot of these issues as stated by Clegg.

Well I will agree with you on more trees. That would give AMS's (Saunderers ) better hiding places. I remember how we deployed AMS's in between the trees at Forseral. man they lasted a long time not like the easily spotted AMS's of PS2. Then we had tree to tree battles.

Exactly I miss those nice battles that were kind of away from facilities since AMS could be well hidden with trees.
Is hard for that to happen in PS2 because of the lack of cover.

I agree with this. One of my main concerns in ps2 is every time I pull an AMS. I always end up parking them in the same exact locations, there isn't many options for good hiding places. Everyone already has it memorized were an AMS is likely to be in this game because of this.

You're saying that the facilities are not big enough.
You're entire post exploded into tiny tiny tiny shards of absolute stupidity as soon as you said that.
Facilities and bases in general are already too large and too decentralized, making them excessively difficult to defend.
Now, I would agree that there isn't enough cover in the open, but there also isn't enough room for vehicles to move around. THE MAP IS JUST TOO DENSE!
So if you are saying the game is "very claustrophobic", and the maps in general need to be larger, with less base clutter, and more cover for infantry and also more area for vehicles to move around in, I'd agree.
basically there are too many bases [for this size map]

The OP is correct. It may be the consequence of starting with a desert and a snow planet but even Ameresh lacks cover.

No. Really really really no.

No. Really really really no.
that's not what I am trying to say. We could have as many bases if not more as long as the distance between them was sufficiently wide and balanced so you could actually maneuver.

It's not that bad on Amerish and some parts of Indar, but on Esamir and most of Indar it's pretty barren. The bases are the only place that offer some real protection for infantry, and even there it's not the greatest.

There definitely needs to be more natural cover for infantry outside of bases. This cover should give relief from air and vehicle attacks.

I submitted a question to PSNO when the guy who designed Esamir was on. My question was "the original Esamir was a snowy continent but it also included trees so what was the thinking behind deciding not to include trees this time around", alas it was one of the questions that wasn't addressed.
ps I like Esamir and I had no axe to grind with the question, I just thought it would be interesting to hear the answer from a perspective of trying to understand the designers reasoning for the decisions they make.

Indeed, even Indar and Amerish could use some more trees to make actual forest instead of botanical garden arboretums...
Northern Indar does pretty good with dunes and various seabed fossils everywhere; sparse, but what is there is good for Infantry to hole up in to avoid enemy fire.

Esamir on the other hand could make do with more trenches, dunes, crevasse, and Crystal outcrops of various size
