Cmon Dave, you promised us a Q1 release. Already we are 2 whole days into the second quarter and Planetside has not gone retail. Dont turn this into another SB. I know that SB holds the record for most times delayed, but dave, no one here will think you are any cooler if you beat that recond >.<. Dave, Planetside this decade is all I'm asking for.
I think this is meant as a joike, the first post that is...

There's always the possibility that the game will be delayed yet again. However, right now, that possibility is very remote. The game is looking great. We just need to accomplish some optimizations and tweak some balance issuesin time to go live. Yes, we missed Q1, But it will only be by a few weeks and the delay has only served the good of the game. Just have some patience and keep some faith while we do the final polish.

This really ticks me off. They have said, since April 2001 (for those who can't count, 2 years ago), that they would release at "the end of Q1, the very end". And they are going to release at the beginning of Q2?
For those who are bitching, I would just politely say STFU.
I don't think that can be politely said.
But said it needs to be.

Well said Kiwi! This is the first time ever that an MMO dev team has provided estimations so early on and been so close to being right!
Now come Xmas time and it still aint here, then its bitching time :D but not now!

A finished game is better then a unfinished game. I think WWII:BlitzKrieg had something like had..they released the game before they fixed most the bug.

it's alot easier for the people currently in beta to get over than the rest of us

Dare I bring up Tribes 2? They released it to soon, and look what happened! I'd much rather have a smooth release later, than a bogus game sooner.

The mentality of people who post the kind of crap mentioned in the top thing will forever elude me.
The number of games released too early which sucked ass is too long to list...you can sum it up with a few choice ones (Ultima IX, Battlecruiser 3k, etc, etc, etc). Comparing Planetside to shadowbane is particularly funny, since shadowbane's original release date was BEFORE PLANETSIDE WAS ANNOUNCED. Ridiculous.

I don't see why developers don't automatically add 3 months onto their expectant release date, because something always happens to get it pushed back atleast once. So they'll either be on time, or be early, and no one would complain.

Sad part is, some do and still miss the mark.
Reguardless, PS is going to launch when ready, not before hand.
Look at the disaster that was Anarchy Online at launch, that game SUCKED.

Bleh.. Vaporware is a poor word to use, the fact the game is in beta disproves it's vaporware. Since freaking, the commodore 64 people have been complaining about release dates.. I guess it's just human nature.

actualy lately AO has turned out to be really neat. Ive played it on and off the last year and found that it is a really expansive story and game. i wish they had continued that 3d animated series as although it was crappy, it really made me feel like i was walking around in something more real in game.

Maybe some people actually like to patch a buggy game up repeatedly, knowing that they got it a few weeks early. Cmon, kids...quit complaining.

Exactly...Tribes 2 ended up being a pretty good game (despire the unhandled exception crap), but it lost a lot of credibility being so buggy at the outset.

Anyone knows Neocron? (www.neocron.com). Thus, it has one and a half year release delay! I was a pre-release fan of that game. Today? Nahh... they have spoken/promised about a FPS based RPG. ARGH... If someone here play's MMORPG's and wanna change to a MMOFPS like ps, he should first have a look on NEOCRON. This is more like a MMORPG with FPS elements.
