Something similar to this is currently planned for squad missions. The driving idea is to encourage squad members to stay together and to give the squad leader the ability to actually command by moving the bonus around. By having to move the waypoint it also helps the squad leader keep it up-to-date so players in the squad are operating on the latest information and not stale waypoints. The current waypoint would still remain as a way to have rally points or to mark targets. And of course we are looking at making the Q-command wheel better so it's easier for a squad leader to update.
Additional ideas involve the ability to mark a friendly player or vehicle as the squad mission (for escorting or for aircraft/vehicle squads), possibly the squad leader as well as a low-maintenance way of folks staying with their squad leader.
The mission waypoint is also a bit different than the current squad waypoints. You can see the mission waypoint in the Tutorial. It is more visible, has some slight movement and has a buffered screen clamp so it is always in your peripheral vision.
That's just a part of the mission system, not the whole thing, and all of what I just wrote is subject to change of course. Please provide feedback!
