There is the mother of all NDAs in PS, ive never seen one this rigerous. Looks like they'll hunt you down and kill you if you let even the smallest word slip.

Has a major game ever gone into public beta without an NDA?

If you signed up for beta you would know there was a huge one. :)

Companies use NDAs now?!
Well, back in my day we'd just use good ol' fashioned threats of getting a whippin' with the ol' leather belt. Yessiree! After a few small leaks, no one dared to give out any info on pain of rears. You heard me right, you damn kids! THEY WOULD WHIP US WITH A BELT! I bet yous kids must be wettin' yourselves about now. None of this slap on the wrist legal crap. Just pure n' simple physical punishment. Works like a charm I tell you!

Hmm IF I make it to beta (and that's a big if), what happens if I tell people something about the game that someone had made a theory about earlier but they didn't say it was a theory, they said it was true? Would this be violating NDA since I thought that the info was already released but it was just a guess or would they let you off for that one time or what?

i think that would be classed the same, confiming info stillhas the same effect,
you know what these forums are like everyone puts their two cents in and listens to everyone elses theories, but ultimately none of us (apart from those in beta) know how it really is in planetside.
someone from a beta commin in and sayin "person x is correct" would give the same info as them posting a thread telling the info first hand.

So we couldn't even say if the guy is right? Oh well if I get in beta I will probably post less on the forum. However, I probably won't get into beta so I guess I'll stay here as long as not everyone leaves... which is probably what will happen.
Hamma is lucky. There is no possible way he won't get into beta...

You would probably get in troble for confirming info like he said, thats the same as coming out and saying it. I wish I were that confident about getting into beta. I feel I probably have the same chances as everyone else ;)

If you had the same chances as everyone else, we would all be in beta. :D

As a general rule if you have to ask whether or not you can say something about the game you are beta testing, it's best you don't.

Just make a new user name and post from a library, they cant get you then (make it a library two towns over.)

It is the same NDA as Tribes 2 and there was plenty of info going around about it's Beta. PS will be no different, stuff will start turning up. ;)
PS, Hello :D

NDA's are indeed essential now-a-days. It's not like a fascist thing; it's a beta and so is likely to have problems.
Say the client crashes on yoru machine every 2 minutes and is lagged to hell; are they gonna want you talking about that? It'd ruin the game before it's out!
So, NDA's are good... it's just resisting telling anyone about the damn thing that'll kill you. I'll end up with a hell of a nervous tick at work!
"You haven't mentioned Planetside for ages Tim! Are you OK? Not in the beta are you?"
"ME? Beta,... ohhh no no no no. Definately not. Not me. No sireee".
Tim smiles like a cheshire cat.
"You bastard".

You CAN say you're in beta as long as you don't say anything about it.
