It's beautiful and very atmospheric.
It's also clearly unfinished, we were only allowed to go to about half of the continent.
The bad? I don't think I can play there, it's far too gloomy and dark. The two mandatory items to equip would be a camo to make you look as dark as possible and nv scopes. :(
Also from the very little I could see, it would be no go for tanks. - of course I didn't see the whole cont, far from it.

very impressed with the whole aesthetic of Hossin, from the giant dead log tunnels, to the swamp gas fog areas that you can get lost in not to mention the Soylent green lake.... (it's people!)
The interlink is a crazy facility, it's going to be a cloaker & LA dream killing area.
One major thing that needs to be addressed before it goes live is some of the door shield areas needed to be recessed back so they aren't flush with the door opening, just allows people inside the shield to stick their guns out with no chance of being shot.
Also I'm not sure that having all those easy spawn exits literally everywhere is a good idea, I'm all for giving defenders a chance but they have to have some jeopardy in holding onto their base.

Things to say:
The new continent appears to be the most detailed of all, with Esamir taking second place.
The continent feels very much like the old Hossin, aesthetically at least.
As you can see to the left, my avatar is a swamptrooper from Star Wars. I'm a big fan of swamp levels, and the new cont makes me very nostalgic to my walkthrough of final levels of Jedi Knight 2
There's a circular highway in the middle of a continent, surrounding somewhat of Hossin version of The Crown. The whole continent is somewhat radial, I really like that.
Functionally, the new cont is going to probably the most random of all.
Now that you've read this, here's some nifty slideshow:

My gaming computer was stolen so I will not be participating in any test server festivities. Without the immediate funds with which to reacquire a suitable PC, I may find myself joining the console peasants on the PS4 in a few months.
If I do manage to get my PC back the first thing I plan on doing is going on the grand tour of the continent and taking notes.
Sadly without the means to access PS2 I won't be able to participate in feedback on Hossin or much else for that matter.
I was looking forward to the double SC coming up but I'm going to need that for other things...

Some Hossin impressions, having only explored a portion of the map:
- It kind of feels like Amerish 2.0 with lots of new type of facilities.
- Interlink is a fantastic piece and plays like an action movie set (it's bound to be a great infantry meatgrinder area).
- Feels like Amerish with lots of gigantic mangrove and buttress trees, vines, swamps but none of the jagged, mountainous crags.
- There's a dam in the middle  I havent' seen it in person yet but it's there in the map.
- Smaller bases have the normal tower walls surrounded by natural (boulder) barrier. It's much like Esamir walls but the the boulders aren't too high but it will prevent them from entering (and even shooting through due to flat ground levels). Whereas in Esamir, players will easily find an elevation with which to spam their tank/harassers.
- There's a shield-covered forward base around the middle of the map. Sweet!

From what I have played so far, it is awesome. The night actually feels somewhat darker which i know people have been wanting and the interlink facilities are very cool.
The one thing I have seen that I really like is the Energy bridges that connect the Charlie point to the rest of the building. I feel that this small objective is something we really needed in terms of base capture. It requires you to hold both C and the terms below. Hopefully this spawns a bit more randomness in fights, but only time will tell~

I am happily surprised.
Seriously, I did not expect to be this impressed by Hossin. The continent takes pretty much everything people have been annoyed about with base design and corrects it. If this continent is to be the premier fighting location of the continental lattice it needed to be 120% of what everyone wanted... and it delivered.
And ontop of that, it looks like an alien world. I mean that was one of those underlying annoyances about Indar and Amerish... Indar looks like West Texas, Amerish like New Zealand. Hossin... Hossin is like a mash up of Daegoba and Endor... it doesn't look like Louisiana, it looks... Alien. If this is the quality of work we can expect from Searhus and Eventually Oshur, I'm more than willing to wait.

The only thing is I've had a really hard time spotting VS (certainly in comparison to TR). Their dark colours kinda blend in with the background and with this fast ttk, it is very hard to compete once engaged.
Anyone tried using flashlights on their guns on this map?
Btw - those yellow interlink arrows, would be nice to know where they are pointing.

Echo the comments there and of others for sure; especially ref. the designs based on what has annoyed most in the past. From the small part I've seen I think that the claustrphobic and muggy feel works for Hossin base design and while the drum of "underground corridors" etc. could be beaten I almost don't think it needs them here (obviously this is without mass scale combat and testing). The other continents yes as the terrain doesn't seem to lend itself to base design - however on Hossin it seems to visually look right on first glance with how you can just come up against a huge cliff or dam with a base perched on the side. Haven't had chance to look in the interlink facility yet but the few screen shots I've seen on reddit etc. look like it could be do with being more internally complex/interesting.
Wonder what the place will feel like when weather is implemented to the game - if they said that there would be dynamic water that formed rivers or something...
Would really like those arrows on the floor to take on a more base/installation design feel of the coloured Black Mesa style corridor transit lines; but thats nit picking on a first release pass.

good basedesign?
i guess i have to go there myself and check it out. i was kind of underwhelmed from what i saw in the video in this thread.
so do we finally have reasonable and defendable spawnpoint locations?
my main aesthetical problem with all continents is the stupid fog everywhere, that makes the game look aweful and even makes the FFI problem worse. at least on hossin it fits the environment because in a swamp you would expect some fog, but shooters are no fun if you can´t see shit.
now that hossin is the foggy swamp, can you please disable all fog on the other conts? and make it a local phenomenon on hossin.

I kind of like the more infantry focussed feel - the nature of the continent enviromentals give it that personality of "anti-vehicle" if they opened it up too much it'd lose it's identity and be no more unique than what we currently have to play on. We haven't seen all of the continent yet as only a fraction is playable so maybe it is less dense on the outer skirts and just gets dense towards the centre?
Thinking a liberator sized transport aircraft might be a good means of air travel - I have visions of turning a corner only to find countless galaxys tangled up in the vines and tree tops haha. On the road though I think that they'll have their place but its geared more towards Sunderer/Flash/Harrasser rather than the tanks.

i love the Fog on Hossin :) it's going to be harder to shoot people at but that's why we have HS/NV sights right? I don't even use them since months but i guess it'll make a nice comeback in my loadouts :D

nope they don't, while Hossin is very .... Hossin but it lacks proper rivers and only has a sizeable Dam (where does that running water go?). Guess they are still working on water technology, lots of waist deep water swampland is a step forward.
Cyssor for example had lots of rivers giving a small tactical advantage I wonder if Mags will ever get to hover on water or when Deliverers arrive if they can traverse water as a semi-amphibious assault vehicle etc.

You just have to give a whistle of appreciation for this lad. If you have not yet visited his channel, I strongly recommend you do. The stuff he has found/made, makes you wonder how on Earth or beyond, does he do it?

Ran around Hossin a little bit last night and just wow. The detail, base design and all the atmosphere is amazing. It feels like Amerish with how unfriendly it will be to vehicles, but there will be tons of crazy chaotic infantry combat. That is the part I want to see most. I want to see how battles flow with large amounts of people... it looks extremely chaotic, but in a great way.
Yay for hand-crafted continents! SOE has really stepped up their game with Esamir, Hossin and Nexus. Almost makes Amerish look bland now.

Probably a bit of that and the fact that Hossin, is much more triangular in shape and size and that's including the entirety of the Continent.
If we were to measure it with Indar for instance, I'm sure it would come close to its size, maybe not exactly but close.

only spent 3h in there so my opinion is still a WIP:
It's a pain to move around in vehicles as wel as it is for aircraft to do A2G, apart from bases.
It has a few nice base designs.
One thing I think will be fun there is galaxy dropping. With travel time as it is, and A2G limited: I bet galaxies will be hot transport on hossin.
Oh yea, and instant death water!
Devs = please add underwater ala Tribes2: where you could fly your shrike underwater to come up the other side of a lake or navigate underwater channels at high speed.

I was able to ask Matt some questions about Hossin that are somewhat irrelevant now since everyone can see it
But I asked him if they applied everything they learned from the Indar redesign and the Esamir redesign and he said they went back and retooled it numerous times before releasing what you are seeing now. Additionally it looks like they are going to do a "phased release" of the continent to get feedback along the way before full release.
I was able to observer cam around it a bit the day it released and I must say it was extremely impressive. It's not vehicle friendly overall, but vehicles will still have a role. I cannot wait to play Infiltrator on this map.
