Hi everyone, I just purchased a new laptop for gaming on, but I'm not terribly good at getting the most from it to make my playtime in planetside the best it can be.

The laptop is an alienware m17x
windows 8 64bit
intel core i7 3610qm 2,3ghz
16gb ram
nvidia 675m

I'm wondering what I should set my settings to to get a good FPS, and still have the game look nice.
One thing I notice is that there is a lot of dust/smoke/snow that makes it hard to see..but I'm not sure if that is something all players experience or if having that stuff turned on is a disadvantage against players that turn it off.

Any suggestions for improving my experience while not losing too much eye candy would be appreciated. I seem to get about 50-60 fps with stuff set to medium/low.

thanks again guys.

Welcome to the forum trapline!

This guide (http://www.planetside-universe.com/showthread.php?t=52189) will help you figure out what you are seeking. Just be prepared to do a lot of trial and error to get the kind of settings and FPS you desire.

50-60 FPS is probably about as good as it's going to get - most folks (myself included) generally get around 40 FPS in the most intense fights, and this has nothing to do with the GPU and everything to do with the CPU (as it says in the guide).

Since you have an NVidia card, I recommend you download the GeForce Experience driver addon (http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience) and let it optimize the settings for you.
