For the love of god, can we please get an option to turn that bullshit off?

I know i have only asked for that about 20 times in the past year, but as i don't see anything being mentioned in that regard i just have to bitch about it again.

Doesn't really seem like it would require much work, so:

LET ME TURN OFF THAT INSUFFERABLE XP SPAM AND SONIC-GOT-A-RING SOUNDS. PAALEASE!

i don't mind it; i can't hear it over the roar of my minigun and striker anyway.

I'm actually surprised anyone's even playing this game on XP.

I like it. Nothing's more satisfying than hearing a distant *boom* and then seeing 100xp pop up on your screen for that prox mine kill. :P

Well if you don't have a problem with that or even like it, that's fine for you and i really mean that.

But i find it absolutely intolerable (i'm not the only one after speaking to people in-game) and a simple checkbox "xp notifications on/off" isn't really much to ask for i'd say.
This game needs to be more userfriendly, and having options like these is part of it. Another example would be to choose your own friggin' crosshair color - the grey lancer one is a bad joke that can barely be seen for example).
It's simple stuff like that which doesn't require much work but would improve the quality of life for people.

How do you know it doesn't require much work though? Even something as 'simple' as getting a decal to display properly on composite armor is deceptively complex as T-ray's said. For all we know with the way they've gone about coding the game it might be a huge work load for them to do these changes. Maybe it'll be something that can be addressed after this next giant leap of opimization.

Oh, we're talking about experience. I actually thought... Nevermind.

Yes, I agree with this. It's an eyesore and not everyone likes having everything shoved in their face. I can understand why this might help newer players but give us the OPTION of turning it off. Nothing sucks more then noticing the XP and in that small time frame of letting ones guard down, getting capped because they were too busy being pleased with themselves (in other words, removing it might help with battle flow).

I would also like the option to remove crosshair myself as that would actually help improve my aim by making me learn the hard way. As I prefer.

Because somewhere are one, or at most a few lines of code that, basically, look something like this: IF player recieves xp -> display "% experience gained" AND play "xpsound".
And a simple checkbox option to turn that line off does not require much work.

Displaying textures (decals) correctly on different high polygon models (armors) is something entirely different and indeed requires a lot of work.
But there is no reasonable explanation as to why something as simple as an option to turn a display message and sound off would be "too much work".

This is a bit like the "Let me use keys to switch loadouts" threads i used to be doing untill they finally added it (thank god for that guys, you made my playsessions so much more fun by just that) - Simple stuff that just affects a couple lines of code but goes a looong way in increasing the overall gaming experience.

Lol, i honestly thought you were trolling with your first comment. :p

Is there any other metagame? Other then pretending there is one that is.

Oh ok never mind. BTW the correct acronym for experience is exp not xp like every kid today write.

Yes yes, I've got a lot on my mind and am not thinking as clearly as I should. Can we please move on now?

Since we're on the topic of things being shoved in peoples faces, or what I'm going to call the "I'M ON YOUR HUD AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT"... thingy (just got up. Cut me some slack) I think we should have the option of what friendly icons to disable. All those icons above every single vehicle in a zerg is just... Ugh.

Not my most constructive statement but it'll have to do.

Now that I brought it up though.. IS there anyone that plays PS2 on XP (I actually peaked my own curiosity).

This might just be the cynic in me but I doubt they'll remove or give the option to disable it until another form of "pat on the back" ding is there to replace it. Remove the experience dings and you'll probably wonder what it is you're actually playing for and realize how shallow the depth of playing currently is.
