just watched some FNO and basically every server is gonna have a machinima partner on there recording and everyone can join, and they are going to have a leaderboard of who captures the most bases etc between the 3 empires and record it onto YT, and it will also be featured on FNO every week :D

Hate to be cynical but is this just a bit of a filler while the dev focus is just on optimization?
It will be interesting to see how this is going to be any different to every other week in PS2.

I think it's cool. It's a 5 week campaign that will have a running tally on the accomplishments. It will probably have similar objectives as Alerts, but hey, it's a form of End Game.

I know we don't know a lot right now but that's because the official announcement is to be made at PAX. If that's your gripe it makes marketing sense to me.

Artificial events sucked in the original game.... alerts suck in this game.... not holding my breath for this.

Bandaid for the lack of substantial metagame while the 5 guys working on ps2 focus on optimisation for the ps4.

If this is their "major announcement" I've got to admit I'm more than a little disappointed. I was hoping it would be a triple station cash, double XP or Hossin announcement.

The overall gameplay is growing very stale, populations are plummeting and this is what SOE has to offer? I love this game but seriously, how many times can we fight over the very same bases without it feeling stale?

I think it has good intentions of moving focus off Indarside and if that happens then great! I wonder how they are going to score empire hoppers? Man I wish we had the old limitation of one empire per server but oh well. Guess we will now more from PAX in 2.5 hours or so.

So as per the email I tuned into PAX to see the reveal of this World Domination Series which is being touted as the Battle of the Year.

I might have blinked at one stage and missed it.
Can anyone fill us in on the big reveal that they had via the link in the email?
Is there a youtube clip highlighting the bit explaining or revealing this event?

Or will the OP link be updated soon to show what was revealed at PAX.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the gist that I got from all this is...

It's exactly the Ultimate Empire Showdown except instead of just 1 day where only X amount of people are able to get involved for X duration of the event, They want to spread it out across 5 weeks so that everyone is able to participate.

This time around they will have people from Machinima ( http://www.youtube.com/user/machinima ) on Youtube filming and recording events on all servers that will be highlighted every Friday Night Ops, I suspect something like (though I won't hold my breath) The War Correspondent PS2 Series that Robert Stoneman did if anyone remembers that http://tinyurl.com/pvv24wb . Each Machinima representative, one for each server, will also have a team of Machinima artists under them also filming, presumably to cut-down on the risk of people attempting to crowd the observer for 15 seconds of fame and photo-bomb.

Arclegger also explains that we will have access to a in-game UI to monitor the progress of the World Series Empire Showdown, (presumably coming in with GU15 this week?) that you can bring up similar to the Scoreboard or Alert progress status that comes up when you hit your TAB key.

This time around the Empire "Leaders" won't be some outside Youtube celebrity and instead be 3 of the game devs themselves. (I presume what faction there leading based off what faction they usually play as as far as I know) The confirmed faction leaders are...

-Arclegger (NC?)
-Malorne (TR?)
-Taylor (VS?)

It's unknown if you'll see them all on one server for all five weeks, All on one different server for each week, or each of them on there own respected servers for the whole event.

Official day/time of the showdown for each week have yet to of been announced. All we know is it's this Month starting maybe sometime next week after GU15 launches.

Announcements like this usually means that SOE marketing completely lost touch with its audience. Almost nothing major happened in this game that could give every player some depth, incentives or meta game. Im fan of PS world for more than 10 years but at this moment i feel same as i felt when they decided to release Core Combat in PS1. For me PS2 is on life support already...
