So.. ive been stoped playing ps2 for about a month now.

I have a question for the community when you have herd about the optimization for planetside2, how do you feel ? right away i felt like it was a step in the right direction for once . but there was a undercurrent of nibbling doubt in the back of my brain that the PC audience and founders/Molders of this game are valued of less by Soe then the console audience. it only seams that these optimizations are coming due to the ps4 release and not because they are much needed for the pc crowd .

But these are just my opinion. What say you PSU community??

im sure they have been planning this optimization for awhile, I just think smedly finally saw the huge amount of complaints due to it and put the breaks on everything. The PS4 release also allows them to go back into the engine and look at it more, learn things from it and play with it so we can get even better things in the future. In fact, they keep saying that the PC and PS4 versions are handled by different teams so I highly doubt the PS4 is the cause of this switch in focus.

The only negative thought I had was: "I have to wait for the resource update again, don't I?" I'm largely happy with it, and while Initially I was worried this would turn into a shit storm, it's been well received by the majority of the community.

The whole: "SOE Doesn't care about PC Gamers, because they are now making a couple console titles" never really held up for me, since again, SOE is a company that for years and years, has specialized in PC Games. This is their first foray into the console market, as far as I know. Also, SOE is a company, and it doesn't really care one way or the other. It's the job of people like Smedley, to remain neutral on these such matters, because there is no future in only caring about the PS4 release of PS2, as neglecting PC gamers at this point would garner a ton of negative press... and Press is one of the entities that has most supported this game.

If you ask me this game was designed around the console gamer, look at the charactor class, user interface, even the F2P lay out. I mean look at PS1 and look at PS2 besides the name and factions they are totally different animals. Yes they did migrate a couple of weapon names and designs, but this game is designed around casuale gamers and you have to think what platform do the casual gamer play on the most PS or console.

Perhaps this round of optimisations was inspired by ps4 or perhaps it wasn't. I don't care what the reason is, if it is good to do it then go ahead and do it.

Do you recall the Napoleon quote? "Never interrupt your enemy while he is making a mistake". To me this is the opposite; "never interrupt anyone while they are doing the right thing".
