According to Higby on CC tonight, for one week until the 30th but they should holdoff one more day and do it on Halloween if you ask me. What could possibly go wrong?

In before it gets delayed again.
Well hey, at least it's coming out before PS2's one year anniversary.

Another thing he said that stuck with me. Someone asked about console launch and he said SOE has to make sure the console launch is absolutely perfect. I wonder where that attitude was back around November 20, 2012? I never have been one to believe the PC version was just a beta test for console but that one statement last night has me almost changing my mind (almost).

I have always stated this. Funny it took this long for Higby to indirectly support this belief.

Standard and to be expected, i would also look forward to an additional delay once it hits PTS because as we know QA don't spot shit.
20minute(no exaggeration here) striker locks attest.

He could have been referring to the rigorous patch/update approval process that SCE employs. They can't just hotfix at a moments notice for PS4 like they can on PC. This will definitely test their quality control process going forward. I can see the PC and PS4 versions getting out of sync due to this and that is the reason they have given for no cross-platform servers. So basically they have free reign on PC where things can be tested before submitting for PS4. So yeah maybe PC makes a nice beta platform.

Or they remain in sync and the PC version suffers from such circumstances occurring. Reminds me of another game...

Not surprised. Everything's always later then anyone says. It's a case of the devs setting themselves a goal which they try to achieve, but personally I'd set goals with time to spare rather then focusing on meeting the deadline. At any rate, a lil' longer won't harm too much provided the time frame is reasonable as it's better for things to be done right then rushed.

I'm curious to see what will happen after the first optimization patch: How many dev resources will they commit to optimization after that? Is it back to business as usual or still everything on hold for more game performance improvements?

November sometime I'd say. Anything prior to this would then be a bonus. I'm having fun playing the steam games I bought in various sales before and since ps2 beta

Funny re reading old threads back when this was first announced. :)
At least Smeds was right and as I said then this should have been added to the OP (http://www.planetside-universe.com/showpost.php?p=941861&postcount=94).

Quick comment - we have members of our tech team actively working on making PS2 play better on multi-core. We recognize performance is an issue and so we're working hard on it. This isn't an easy task. It comes down to rewriting some pretty important stuff. It's going to be a bit. My best guess? 2-4 months.
By the time its actually finished it will go very close to 4 mths imo.
I don't for a second believe that this "Oct 30th" patch is going to be the end of this optimization saga.
I do look forward to the 3x SC for PS4 release though that will appease me. ;)

Is there an over/under wager on how many new bugs pop-up and how long it takes to correct all of those bugs after such a huge task as the optimization?

Oh... we're surely heading to a time where there are going to be all sorts of bizarre rendering issues.
Doesn't mean they won't eventually get it right, but I actually expect the step backwards, before the two forward.
